Stopped here while passing through town and was pleasantly surprised- great food! Taste just like home (or what I feel like a homemade meal would be if my mama was from the south). The portion sizes were huge and prices were extremely reasonable. Friendly service. A hidden gem.

Warm welcome, smells like home when you walk in and the delicious food just caps it all off. Love this little local spot. I just wish I could get there more often.

The real deal! I'm from NC and this is how a fish camp bbq joint should be. Delicious food and friendly service!

Under rated! The food here is fresh & home made, everyone is very kind and easy to work with, prices are super reasonable - what more can you really ask for? I placed a very last minute catering order for Easter and I was so impressed with a quick response and such prompt service. They took care of everything from food to utensils and made sure the food was sent protected and HOT. Everyone was so impressed with the food and I have Home Plate to thank for making me look good! Will definitely be back for lots more. The area is very fortunate to have this hidden gem!!!! This isn't a pretentious overpriced FAKE southern food joint like many you'll find in more popular areas of Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill (the Pit in Durham and Raleigh serves dry and salty "bbq" for twice the price!) This is the real deal and if you don't like this place you probably don't know much about country cooking. They also have a Durham location which I understand serves breakfast and I'm looking forward to trying that as well. Thank you again to everyone at Home Plate!

A hole in the wall restaurant with really great country cooked food! Can't beat the prices! It is cafeteria style service, where the portions are overflowing. Meat and two vegetables for around 6.99. Not a four star restaurant but one we like. Eat in or carry out.

We're new to the area and enjoy trying out the local spots. Craving some down-home Southern food, I decided to visit home plate and was pleasantly surprised. I learned the menu changes daily (open M-F only) & have my favorites. I like the fried & baked chicken, cabbage, & red potatoes. The deviled eggs are also great! My husband loves the country style steak and chicken & dumplings. The service was also good, friendly and fast! It's quickly become one of our go-to spots for lunch & sometimes dinner!

Strange place. Can't decide whether it's a buffet place, a seafood restaurant, or just another country food joint. I'm reminded of Hotel California when I eat there. You may or may not see a server, and chances are good you may or may not see another customer. Makes you wonder if you'll be able to leave after you've eaten. Not easy to find if you're not familiar with the area, and you haven't missed much if you don't find it. Like most restaurants, it has it's own clientele base who keep coming back. Like Starbucks, it's an acquired taste.
