This place has always been a 5/5 for me. I brought my in a laws in here and my grandparents. This time around, I did the sashimi bento special. I would totally order this again. I forgot to take a photo but it has sashimi, cooked fish, tempura, rice, and seaweed salad. It was all the things I wanted but in a combined meal. I would order this again.

Hokkaido has been a Bellaire staple for cheap, but great sushi for years now, I'm surprised I haven't written a review for here sooner. Ever since my early high school days, everyone knows that Hokkaido is the place to go if you're craving sushi, but don't want to break your bank coming here.Service is quick, order at the counter, and they bring it to your table. Pay with cash, and you'll get a discount too. They also offer miso soup, red bean dessert, iced tea, and water included. If you're wanting hot food, I'd recommend the katsu don. Sushi wise, I like the chirashi, spicy scallop nigiri/hand rolls, eel hand roll, Hawaii volcano roll, crazy spider roll, and rainbow rolls.Ambiance wise, Hokkaido is tucked away in the corner of the shopping center. It is a very calm, unassuming restaurant. Simple, but everyone loves this place. If you haven't been before, you're really missing out on a Houston staple, enjoy!

Hokkaido was one of the first restaurants I went to my first time in Houston. So for the nostalgia I had to go back. As always the service was great. The waitress explained the order process and gave us time to order. They have unlimited miso soup available which is one of my favorite things about this place. I ordered the Agadashi tofu appetizer and it was so soft and flavorful. I also had a Chirashi bowl and shashimi. Presentation of both were very neat and eye catching. The rice in the Chirashi was a little bit sweet and sticky and paired really well with the raw fish. It's medium quality sushi and great prices. Overall it was a good lunch. I wasn't able to finish everything, but I left feeling satisfied. The restaurant has plenty of seating and is well lit with decent isle space to walk back and forth to the miso station.

THE BEST PLACE FOR SOME SUSHI OR LUNCH!! Sometimes this place can get crowded, so you just have to come at a good time. Everything is excellent. You get free miso soup & red bean soup. I love the salmon nigiri!! Very fresh & creamy/buttery taste! My go to for when I want some sushi but I don't have the appetite for AYCE sushi

Salmon Maki: I really enjoy their makis because they contain less rice and a generous amount of flavorful salmon. The salmon has a delightful buttery taste, making it one of the best salmon makis I've had. Additionally, the price is affordable and reasonable. To top it off, they offer unlimited self-serve miso soup, which, although it's not outstanding, still tastes delicious. 10/10Rainbow Rolls: This is my go-to option at this place! I appreciate that they didn't overload the rolls with rice. There's a good variety of fish in them, which I enjoyed. However, I wish there was a bit less avocado, but aside from that, everything else was satisfying. I would definitely order this again. While it doesn't stand out as particularly special, it's still a solid choice. 8/10Service: The staff was friendly and nice, providing excellent service. 10/10

Hokkaido has been around for a very long time and has always been consistent with their food! The service is always quick. Interior is a bit old and outdated but that's what makes Hokkaido. One of the original sushi spots in Houston.

I can see why this place gets busy with long waits sometimes (depending on day and time you go). Short - it's delicious, 5% off for cash buyers, self serve. You grab a menu and a sushi menu by the register, pick any seats/table that you desire and decide what you want, then order at the register. Line may seem long sometimes but not to worry, the line go rather quickly (much faster than the line to get your complimentary miso soup). If you're dining in, they will ask you which table you're sitting at and will bring the food out to you. When you're done, you can just leave! Please me nice and don't make such a big mess. You can tip at the register.
