Hiway Cantina

Ambiance is casual. We were greeted immediately by the server. We chose the bar seeing how it was wide open. Daniel, our Bartender was very friendly. The Beef Quesadilla was great as well. I would most definitely come back.

Would like to give this place a better review yet still feel generous. Our server seemed very annoyed with us the whole evening. There were four of us and we all did order different drinks...we wanted different things. Opted for two orders of beef fajitas. The beef was decent. The tortillas were kind of all over the place; some were great some were extra crispy. Our beans and rice came out all wrong. Usually no issues but again our server was quite annoyed that we wanted what was ordered. I asked for the bill and when I asked for an itemized she again was quite perturbed. It was us and three other tables on a Tuesday. Went to check out half price fajitas but would rather pay full price most other places. Agricole Hospitality needs to give this place a hard look - nowhere near on par with other concepts.

Loved this place! Their soup was delicious and their fajitas were even better. I really enjoyed the beef, but the chicken was also delicious. The carne asada enchiladas had great flavor.The service was excellent. Dimas did a great job!

We had a great lunch at Hiway Cantina! To start off, the complimentary chips and two kinds of salsa were delicious--obviously freshly made.We had an order of the combo beef and chicken fajitas, and both meats were excellent, very tender. The tortillas, rice, and beans that came with the meal were great as well. And both the regular house and frozen margaritas were tasty as well.The only thing I didn't like about Hiway Cantina is that they only serve three tortillas with a big order of fajitas and charge extra for more tortillas--I just don't like being nickled and dimed when I'm paying a lot for a meal already.

Gabriel was super attentive, great communicator and awesome at service! Would come again. Sorry we came 15 mins before closing! Foood & drinks were delicious !!

Sad to say we will not be back. Food was below average. Queso was okay, but mostly because it was warm and we were cold. Worst margarita EVER! So much ice and why is there egg white in it? If you are going to open a Tex-Mex in Houston, bring your best! We love Coltivare, maybe a second location in this space would work out better. Maybe we ordered wrong, maybe this is a fajita place. The margaritas however were a fail and no matter how great the food could have been, there is no redemption. Good luck! Service was great. That is why there are two stars instead of one.

Great drinks-watermelon margarita, hell fire margarita, and the regular margarita were awesome! Food-table salsas are delicious (red and green)Campechana was really goodCarne asada enchiladas were very good and the rice and beans were delicious! Food was quick, atmosphere nice but casual. Alan was an awesome and friendly server who recommended live music in the building connected in the back. Highly recommend!

I wish I could give this place a lower rating. First they don't have happy hour, which is okay but the margarita that I ordered had too much ice. When the bartender made the drink she mixed the margarita mix with ice and then poured it into this cup full of ice which made the $12 margarita taste like water. The green chile chicken enchiladas seem like they would be good but unfortunately for $22 it was not worth it. Not sure what they actually used but it felt like they mixed in sour cream with the chicken and cheese. I got bites of mostly creamy cheese than chicken. On top of that I got mushy rice that was so overcooked. This place is charging crazy prices for way below average food and drinks. This is my first ever yelp review and I just felt I needed to let y'all know!

So we went to Hiway because it was on the "hot and new" list, not realizing it was the new concept by the same restaurant group that owned Indianola, which was previously in that same location.I have to say, I did not find this place very "hot". The concept has been done a million times before, which is fine, I love Tex Mex, but this could have been better.1. The serving sizes are huge and priced accordingly. So you're committed to spending more for your meal. I would honestly plan on splitting a meal with someone. 2. There are no a la carte options which was disappointing. I was full after the appetizer so I just wanted one taco but that wasn't an option.3. The drinks are great! I had a regular margarita. 10/10.4. The server was cool and gave good suggestions, including a warning about the big serving sizes.5. The smallest fajitas order you can get is 0.5 lb? It should be 0.25 lb.

The food was absolutely delicious. World class Tex Mex! And the drinks were original and tasty.
