Me was dry.. but not to expensive good bang for the buck. It's less than average potatoe salad was good

It's been about 15+ years since I've eaten at this establishment. It was formerly located on the frontage of US59; a change in the on-off ramp affected this business. Decided to get off US59 and drive the less than 3 miles to the "New" location. It's definitely smaller than the original. The staff was attentive, pleasant and took our order quickly. It's order at the counter and it's delivered to your table service. I had the ($13.45) 2-meat plate with 2-sides. I saw on a different Yelp review that their onion rings were GOOD! I ordered them and they ARE! You don't get a bunch for $3.60? , but they were very tasty and I was glad I ordered them. The building itself will remind you of an old Texas restaurant. Clean tables with advertising on them and the staff is quick to clear off the tables. With major road construction going on, if you're heading US59 South, you'll need to take a detour to get back on to that highway. Other than some uneasy feeling (repeated gas/belching) from either the sausage OR the onion rings (gulp). I enjoyed the meal. ;)

great food, especailly the sunday only turkey & dressing. love the family atmosphere & good ole eating. great bbq from ribs to brisket to chicken fried steak. oh and not to mention the bomb.com home made pies.. yummmmmm

Stopped in to try, not bad. Brisket was full of flavor but a bit dry. Onion rings spectacular. Mustard greens out of the park.

The food not as good as it was. The bbq chicken has lost it tasty bake beans not up to standard potatoes salad also not tasty once was the best bbq around they has lost a step

I definitely enjoy the food at Hinzes. Every time I visit the staff is friendly and welcoming. Always a pleasant experience.

Very interesting place. It is really a hole in the wall in my opinion so don't go by the looks. Their bar-b-que is very good. Great variety and great taste ! They were prompt and service was great. I would definitely try it again

I was disappointed with my barbeque chicken today. Normally it is barbequed to perfection. What I received today was very light tan colored chicken with NO flavor. I travel to Wharton about once a week just to get one of my favorite foods there. Today was disappointing. I do not know what happened with the chicken today. When I got home an opened my plate, I was shocked at how it looked and when I tasted a piece it was bland. I literally seasoned the chicken myself and placed in my oven.This is my go-to on a regular basis, so yes, I was very surprised at the cook and flavor.
