I had a disappointing service experience at this restaurant, despite the amazing food they served. Our waitress, Shirley, didn't make us feel welcomed or appreciated as clients. It was my first time trying out this place, and I couldn't help but feel unsure if she was having a bad day or simply didn't care about providing good customer service. When we entered, we were given the option to sit at the bar or at a table. We chose a table, but Shirley insisted that we sit at the only available two-top table. When my friend asked if we could sit at a different table, she immediately shut down the idea and insisted on that specific table. We decided to request an outdoor table instead because the one she wanted us to sit at was crowded, and we would have been seated next to a baby with a high chair.Once we were settled, Shirley approached us and asked if we were ready to order food, without even considering if we wanted anything else to drink besides the water she brought. Another uncomfortable moment was when she came to pick up an empty plate and stood there for a few seconds before asking if she could take away the plate I was working on in front of me. I kindly informed her that I was still working on it and didn't need it to be cleared just yet.To add to the awkwardness, while we were still enjoying our second dish and bottle of sake, Shirley interrupted us and asked if we were ready for the check. This was surprising since the restaurant wasn't busy, and there was no indication of a wait time. The only time I saw her smile was when we paid, which left me wondering if it was because we still tipped her 20% despite the poor service or if she was simply happy we were leaving. In conclusion, the food at this restaurant was excellent, but the service fell short of expectations.

When I heard another concept was coming from the same team behind Handies Douzo, Aiko, and Kokoro, I knew I had to check it out. However, the ownership of this place is a little different. Even though it seems like the same team, Daniel Lee and Patrick Pham are not the head chefs here and I could tell. The nigiri was a little less inspired and the flavors a little less vibrant, which is why I did not rate this place 5 stars. However, it is no doubt still a very good sushi place. We enjoyed our dining experience here, although I was not blown away. The crudos were the only standouts, similar to the crudos at Handies and Aiko. I admit I did not order any of the rolls, only nigiri, so perhaps their rolls is where they shine. The restaurant is cute and clean on the inside, albeit quite small. There is apparently an upstairs although I didn't see anyone going up there. The restaurant is located in the Stomping Grounds so plenty of parking. The service here could be better. There seemed to only be one waiter for lunch on a Saturday and he wasn't super on top of his game. He was very soft spoken, was slow getting our bill, and also split our bill wrong on a few items. I would come back if we were in the area, but probably wouldn't go out of our way to come here.

I kept hearing on the Oak Forest about this place and was excited to try it out. The ambiance is nice and it does have indoor and outdoor seating. We were seated pretty quickly and staff was friendly. For dinner I tried bgb saketoro (REALLY GOOD), amberjack (hard to find and really good), hotame (ok) followed by the shaggy dog. A solid and well executed sushi set - especially nice that it's close by.We also split the karagi which was perfectly balanced - crispy without being soggy and over oiled. The other cool thing is it is BYOB! So you can bring your own bottle of wine if you don't want to buy one at the restaurant. Cork fee was a fair price.

First review of the year! From last year - haha. I got knocked out from the flu Anyways, here's to the less formal yet still as spectacular as their sister establishments (Aiko & Handies Douzo). Honestly, if you're craving some fresh fish but you are not dressed appropriately for the other 2 places or they have no more available reservations, Himari is where to go! You get the same menu with a slightly different take. This place has more traditional sushi rolls whereas HD is known for their maki rolls and cheery ambience and Aiko is more decendant. So let's ROOLLLLLL & go through some my top rolls:What we got We felt less rice-y and more fresh sahami and ordered the three cold crudos:1. Tuna with PINEAPPLE & black garlic2. Salmon with sliced apple 3. Red snapper with citrus & SUNFLOWER SEEDS** there's more flavors in each but I just listed the ones that stood out to me here !We also had to get some rolls obviously so we did the NEGITORO roll which was super fresh. totally recommend you have to incorporate this roll in your tastings somehow. And other one surprises me because I normally don't like fried - the Crispy Tuna. The idea of frying the rice than topping with fresh tuna is splendid. There are many other rolls I'd of loved to order but here's for always next time! The service was awesome! Our waiter was cordial and respectable of our time.

Everything was amazing. I came here for an entrepreneurial event and had a set menu. Every dish came out amazing the freshness and quality of every dish kept you wanting more. The attentiveness and service was great despite us having quite a large group. The ambiance gave a pleasant calming sushi experience and they also have additional tables upstairs. The area the restaurant is in is quite unique and has plenty of other unique restaurants to try from. I will definitely be coming back here.

Himari is a great place in the Heights to enjoy sushi. Their sushi is very fresh and delicious. My favorite nigiri is their salmon and kanpachi. This was the place that changed my favorite fish to kanpachi from salmon! Absolutely love their interior design. Owner is always there and he is very attentive with the customers. It's also located in the Stomping Ground complex, so you can enjoy a little ice cream or wine after a good sushi.

Himari is a super cute restaurant - imagine a sushi restaurant in NYC, with a little more space. The menu offers tons of sushi options and 3 omakase courses. Our group ordered a ton of dishes but the most popular items for us were the A5 wagyu nigiri (MUST TRY!), salmon curry roll, and sake toro nigiri. The service was quick and friendly; the waiters were helpful and patient through our decision making process. I would definitely come again to try more of the menu

I really loved this location for a family outing. It is surrounded by other restaurants with a grassy area in the middle that plenty of kids were enjoying. The fish was very fresh. I wish there was little more flavor but overall a good experience. Check the happy hour menu in the pics!

Himari is extremely high quality sushi hidden in a small, new area in the heights. This has become a repeat stop for us, especially now that they've added a "social hour" menu with some great sushi sets for a reasonable price - (available weekdays from 11am to 5pm I believe) The service is great, it's rarely busy, and this is also a great spot for lunch (in my opinion) as it's not overly formal.Would highly recommend the tropical tuna and hamachi special (pictured) as they're not found at just any sushi place. Their akami roll on the sushi special is also great. Be sure to get some pieces of madai (sea bream) too!
