Before my brother in-law and sister in-law left Philly to return to the West Coast, their final dining request was Her Place. So my husband and I stalked reservations right at 6PM when they opened on a Sunday night, and we were able to snag some before they left town! Only the 8:30PM time slot was available which was not ideal for a diner given a medication limitation. I emailed Her Place, and within 24 hours, our reservation was moved to 6PM to better accommodate. I was blown away by how easy and accommodating the staff was! We arrived a few mins before 6PM, and as mentioned in the reservations, the doors open promptly at 6, so we waited outside for a bit. Once we got inside, we were instructed to select a table for our party of 4 - we picked a nice 4 top close-ish to the window but also with an adequate view of the kitchen. The vibe inside the restaurant is very much dinner-party-esque. The art work and dining sets are eclectic, and the intimate dining room with an open kitchen truly makes you feel as if you're in someone's home. Having a pre-fixe menu was ideal, although I did appreciate the ability to add on a variety of menu items as you saw fit. The wine list was extensive enough, including both bottles and glasses, although the cocktail list was fairly small (limited to 3 options). I started with a glass of wine, while the rest of our party got cocktails - all were solid! We split a bottle of wine during our dinner, selecting a natural orange wine. Loved the variety to choose from! The menu changes often based on what's in season (and what Amanda wants to cook, which I love), so we got some nice spring pieces for our meal. Prior to serving the dish, a staff member rings a bell to give you the run down on the dish, including where the ingredients came from and how it was prepared. This was such a wonderful and thoughtful touch - you can tell that the staff truly loves what they do and are passionate about the food they make. As the restaurant is reminiscent of a dinner party, the whole room is served each individual course at the same time, which is a unique feature that adds to the ambience. Each dish was impeccable in its concept and execution, and the flavors were incredible. The standouts from our meal were the fried skate cheeks with white asparagus, the mussel toast, and the taleggio francobolli with bone marrow and peas - but not a single dish wasn't divine! My husband and I expected to be comfortably full from the anticipated course (we predicted correctly), so we didn't add anything on, but my sister in-law opted for the charcuterie board addition, which she really enjoyed. We never felt rushed throughout our meal, but I was also impressed that they kept to schedule and had us out of there by around 8PM so they could prep for the next group. Her Place was a special and unique dining experience, and I am so grateful we enjoyed a meal there before our family departed the city. I am also thankful at how flexible they were with reservation adjustments - it makes a huge impact on hospitality. While Her Place is certainly not cheap, the overall "dinner club" experience and the fresh, innovative, and quirky plates in a classic yet eclectic Philly row home make it a meal to keep on your Philadelphia food scene bucket list. Thank you for this wonderful last hurrah with our brother- and sister-in-law, Her Place!

it's a good vibe, fun place to experience once, but not a return spot imomenu changes every 2 weeks so you might not know what you're eating when you book which could be disappointing but part of the riskoverall the food is executed well, but the flavors are just a bit off. fav thing was a pickled tomato + melon salad. the zucchini bread was too greasy (zucchini sweat down in butter, then layered on bread, covered in butter), the steak tartar + eggplant could use a bit of mustard (maybe even that peach mustard from the pork chop!) we got an extra corn ravioli dish ($30 on top of prix fix) bc im a corn fiend which was delicious, but honestly they only needed either the mushrooms or the truffles, not both.main is a pork chop which is saved by the fact that the meat itself is excellent. they give you a mini cookie (1 inch diameter) on the way out and a handful of chex mix. serving sizes are too small LOL ate lunch at 1 pm in prep for 6 pm dinner, added that extra pasta portion, and still we were barely full. every single dish on the menu that you see is 1 plate shared for 2 people, which is insane given the price tag.3% service fee added on, $160 pp after tax, tip, 1 prix fix per person + 1 drink + 1 extra ravioli to share.

I enjoyed dining at Her Place, I definitely felt like I was having a meal in someone's home. The restaurant is tiny and every table has a view of the kitchen. I dined by myself so I was placed at one of the two window seats. My back was toward the kitchen and I had to turn around each time the chef was describing the dishes. The menu wasn't something I would have normally chosen for myself, it was very seafood focused but it was all around tasty. The main dish was a quail and morels. My favorites of the night were the chicken liver pate with radishes and homemade Ritz cracker. They really did taste like a Ritz but much elevated. My other favorite of the night was the dessert: the rhubarb, cream cheese semi freddo, and meringue was to absolutely die for. You could really taste the cream cheese. Also notable was the sauce Americaine in the quenelle/lobster dish, I wanted to scoop it up and lick the plate. I see people complaining how it wasn't enough food since you had to share, I didn't have this problem, as I was solo and was able to eat full plates of everything. I enjoyed the final touches at the end, giving out cookies and a bag of Chex Mix. Bravo. I'd maybe come back if I were to travel to Philadelphia again. $120 after tax and tip.

Well worth the hype! We've tried to get reservations here many of times and finally lucked out around my birthday time. They went above and beyond with a special card, sang happy birthday, and had a cute little birthday hat. Menu changes every two weeks and we can't wait to go back in the fall. You can tell they are passionate about their food and put love into it. Each dish was amazing but the clam toast and corn ravioli were the stand outs.

Such a unique dining experience! Fun flavors and very "farm-to-table" vibe. Delicious food and intimate environment. Definitely on the trendier, non-traditional side. There are add ons that you can purchase throughout the meal that are "experimental" menu items for the next season. For us, that was cheese stuffed zucchini flowers and skate. A little bit pricey, so I won't be rushing back. However, good experience that I would recommend to friends if they're looking for something different

Was looking forward to dinner at Her Place Supper Club for some time now and have to say this place is overhyped.7 courses are normally a good amount of food, but not at Her Place Supper Club. The first four courses were pretty much all served around the same time. The problem is that the portions are small, and these plates are to be shared. The croquettes, beef tongue + potato salad, beets/kumquats/cheese & seeds salad dish were okay. The smoked whitefish course was probably the best out of these 4 courses. My husband and I also ordered one of the specials for an additional $20. It was an order of 4 lightly fried oysters, served atop creamed spinach in their shells. They were pretty good, but I have to say it was too much spinach in each shell. It felt like the restaurant was trying to justify charging $20 for 4 oysters by stuffing more spinach into the oyster shells. The fifth and sixth courses were the most enjoyable. The agnolotti was skillfully prepared. The skin was just thin enough to hold the potato leek soup. For an additional $20/person, we opted for truffles with our agnolotti. The truffles managed to kick this already tasty dish up a notch. And what a delightful warm dish to serve on this chilly night. The pork cheeks were incredibly tender and cooked to perfection. I wish we could have more of it. Dessert was a pistachio crème caramel to be shared again. Before we all left, we were all given a bag of duck fat Chex mix to take with us. I have to say, I expected my belly to be stuffed after a meal like this. Not including drinks, we spent $120/person, and it was not very satisfying. The shared plates could be bigger. The portions of the fifth and sixth courses could be bigger as well. Homely food should not cost $90-$120/person.

Reservations are released every Sunday for the next two weeks (different in 2024 than in the past) at 3pm PST (6pm EST) and the menu is different every 2 weeks. Amanda has really done something special in Philadelphia. Coming here was such a treat. It's a small restaurant so the atmosphere was very warm and cozy, but the size wasn't what made it cozy, it was the head chef. I have never been to a restaurant where the whole restaurant was silenced so that she could walk through every little detail on the menu. It was so great to hear about every pairing and ingredient and she also presented the add on options that are available for the day. Certain items come in pairs, and it's done like that on purpose so it can complement one another. The first course was an orange salad with fete de moines (funky cow milk cheese) and hazelnuts. It was delicious. If you don't know, oranges and cheese pair very very well together. The crunch of the hazelnuts also added the extra layer that elevated this appetizer. What came with this was the English muffin and a foie gras spread on top with spots of fig jam. The sweetness of the fig jam complemented the foie gras very well. It was delicious. The second pair that came out was the fried skate cheeks (fish) with a tartar sauce and a celery root slaw. This was like the fish in fish and chips. The batter was very light and crispy and the tartar sauce was also full of flavor yet not thick and overpowering. But the star of the show was the celery slaw. It paired so well with the fried fish. You get the taste of celery to know that you're eating celery, but it is soft and easy to eat and feels so refreshing when eating something fried. What came as a pair was a broiled scallop with a trumpet butter gratin. The bed of gratin that was so good. I added the beef tartare and hands down it was the best tartare I've ever had. They fermented/pickled peppers from the summer and that was on top of the tartare as a kind of sauce. It was amazing. The tartare was so flavorful and fresh and tasted like summer because of the pepper sauce. What came after was one of the main courses. It was a potato ravioli and the chef described it as a campbells soup but better and I would have to say it's definitely better. The spinach was so sweet and the tomatoes were so fresh. So yes, I guess campbells but way fresher and better ingredients. Another main was the duck breast with red wine sauce. I actually thought this dish was one of the worst ones of the night (worst of the best). What this was paired with was the star though. It was a duck leg confit salad with nuts, pickled, and shallots. It was so delicious and the ingredients worked so well together. For dessert there was a pavlova dessert with citrus sorbet on the inside. A pavlova is a meringue based dessert. And this one had this as the shell with the sorbet in the middle. I paid extra for a crepe cake and it was definitely worth it. Many delicious layers with a chocolate sauce.

I've got a major girl crush on Her Place Supper Club. WOW, just wow! I'm in absolute awe of the dining experience I had last night. Truly a gem. From the music soundtrack, to the amazingly attentive service and all female staff, to the intimate dining setting, to the passionate chefs who took the time to ring the bell and explain every single dish in detail, to making every single person dining in that room last night feel so welcomed and last but not least, to the thoughtfully curated dishes and empty plates left behind begging to be licked - what an epic dining experience + one that both my husband and I will never forget. So happy Presidents Day (Monday) allowed me the opportunity to make it to a dinner during the week. EVERY SINGLE dish I tried, I absolutely loved. Not one bad item on the menu, not a single one! One Recommendation: Get all of the add-on specials, there is no 'going wrong' at Her Place. Try it ALL. Showstopper Dish: Chitarra w. Clams A big round of applause to Amanda Shulman. Truly impeccable. I'm telling everyone I know that I love her and 'Her Place'.

tl;dr this self-described "supper club" achieves a balance of sophisticatedly innovative and comfortably cozy, and it is certainly one of my favorite restaurant experiences in the cityIn the midst of the pandemic, Amanda Shulman signed a temporary lease in Rittenhouse Square to showcase her "supper club" concept: a rotating, locally sourced menu in an intimate and personal setting. Fast-forward 2 years, and Her Place was a resounding hit: the biweekly reservation drop is a challenge that rivals Zahav, Her Place's sister restaurant My Loupe has opened just blocks away to critical acclaim, and Shulman has garnered back-to-back nominations for Best Emerging Chef from the James Beard Foundation. I've lived just around the corner of Her Place since it opened -- and I'm glad that I finally had the opportunity to give it a try.Even though Her Place is the new kid on the block, it feels infinitely timeless and effortlessly comfortable. Marble tables and mismatched wooden chairs are pressed into the tiny space, and each table has a fresh flower and a live candle. The whitewashed room has forest-green trim and plenty of artsy framed posters. The sizzle from the open kitchen mixes with the low hum of instrumental music and 2000s hits. To kick off the meal, Shulman greets the room from the open kitchen in the back, and she invites the guests to introduce themselves to each other. Then, she gives an in-depth illustration before each course and supplement. My partner and I pounced on a reservation right when they were released on Sunday evening. When we arrived, the staff immediately made us feel at home. We dove into our meal with an amuse-bouche: a crispy cheese sandwich with rhubarb jelly and foie gras mousse. The strong sweetness of rhubarb complemented by the characteristically rich liver well. Next, we received a giant beef bone, sliced in half to easily access the marrow. The herby marrow melted in my mouth, and the springy fava beans perfectly complemented it. The accompanying focaccia was drenched in brown butter and toasted until crisp. Further, the simple side salad offered some acidity to cut through the rich marrow. Next, we received grilled asparagus with ramp-based ranch dressing, which we upgraded with a fried soft-shelled crab. Everything was crisp, and the lemon nicely offset the substantial ranch. The pasta course consisted of pillowy ricotta gnocchi, enveloped in melted cheese and served in a creamy crab sauce. For our main course, we were served buttery, perfectly charred scallops with a sweet-and-salty sweet onion "cream" and crunchy lovage. Across both, the combination of flavors and textures was masterful, and each bite was as mouthwatering as the last. Our meal concluded with an almond shoehorn pastry, schmeared with strawberry whipped cream and lemon curd. It was light and flaky, with occasional crispy sugar crystals mixed throughout. My partner and I were floored by the meal, and we would have been happy if it ended there -- but Shulman herself visited each table to drop off take-home baggies of duck fat "Chex Mix".Dinner for 2 ran just over $200 (after tax, tip, and our crab supplement), and we agreed that it was worth every penny. As my final supper before moving permanently to Los Angeles, Her Place was an outstanding occasion to celebrate my near-decade in Philly. If I were to list the best fine "special occasion" restaurants in Philly, Her Place would no doubt rank among the top -- go ASAP before Shulman moves on to bigger and better things.

Delicious and creative food and well worth the price and time to secure a reservation. More than enough food and so carefully crafted. I always share the meat dishes with my husband because I do not eat meat. Still, I never leave hungry. I also love the atmosphere and the guest books at the end. I look forward to dining at Her Place!Amanda is a brilliant and remarkably intelligent chef! We really appreciate her culinary brilliance and her kind and straightforward professionalism. She is a gem and it is an honor to watch her in action. There was one meal in particular which reminded me of when we frequently dined at Le Bar Lyonnais/Le Bec Fin under George Perrier. He would definitely enjoy Her Place and My Loup! And Amanda reminds me of him in many ways: his diligent selection of fresh local food, his incredible creativity, and his care for his customers like family. Her Place is a very special place for all!
