Visited for first time en route to Mann music center for a concert. Obviously a "locals" bar tho we had good service. Bartender put Phillies game on tv near our table. We enjoyed chicken Florentine sandwich and chicken cheesesteak, both made to order, substantial but lacking some seasoning ( easily remedied by Chiluba and s/p). Beer selection was good, and beer was cold. Nice pub, definitely an upgrade from Chubbys steaks around the corner.

The Henry James Saloon might not be on any of your regular routes while exploring Manayunk-Roxborough. On the corner of Henry and Jamestown, this little spot has grown quite a bit from my first visit. From a fully renovated bar area to the brand new back yard / outdoor seating, I would recommend finding a way to fit in a visit. Food wise, they have a decent selection of better than average bar food. You can get burgers and sandwiches and several veggie friendly options as well. I love the Hank Jim and the Cordon Blue Burger is pretty amazing too. As for drinks, it is a bar that has you covered. They have a good selection on draft and a few bottles to pick from as well. I haven't tried any mixed drinks or cocktails, but I'm confident the bartenders can handle it.No complains on service. They are a friendly crew and willing to joke around with customers. And the overall appearance of the place is great - especially with all the renovations!

Perfect neighborhood bar with a good menu. Super friendly servers and first class service. Great place to watch a game or just hang. Comfortable outdoor area for nice weather. Nothing we don't like about this joint.

I have been going here for year. Service is always incredible, and they're draft list is great. Also, I'm a sucker for their hot turkey sandwich. They also always give good size oranges for there blue moons.

This is the classic neighborhood spot for good reason, great food, friendly/fast service, and welcoming dinning space with a huge bar. No matter what time or day, this spot always fits the bill. Whether it's a quick weeknight meal, football on Sunday or lunch on the weekend, the food is always excellent. They have a great patio outside during the summertime too! A few of my favorite bites here are the burgers, wings or the hot roast beef sandwich! The beer is always cold, and they pour a good pint of Guinness too.The bartenders are friendly, the waiters are kind and professional, and the clientele is welcoming to all new faces coming in.Add this spot to the rotation!

We got a Cheesesteak and paid the extra dollar something to 'pud' it. 'Pud'ing' it is putting hot stuff on it, Sauce and peppers. It came on a traditional roll. It had a decent amount of chopped meat. It came with french fries. The Pud stuff was hot but it was all on the bottom of the cheesesteak. I prefer to have my extras mixed in with the meat. What little cheese there was, was melted.

I absolutely love this bar. I wish I had one of their shirts that has "I love this bar" on the back, but they were out.I won't go to Philly (from Calif) without making at least one trip to this bar.It felt so homey, and I was so impressed with the place and its inhabitants on my first visit, that I had to buy a round for everyone. That was last fall. And I went another time or two on that trip.There again, with family, a few weeks ago. I was not disappointed.The Staff is/are? entirely terrific; the beers are cold and the food is hot.I absolutely love this bar! What more can I say? Oh, yeah. I can't wait till my next visit.
