What a gem of a find! My only complaint: they don't offer Mac n cheese as a side! But I'm starting to think that is just a Florida thing. We came here twice during our visit to NC. Once we pick up and once for done in. The prices are super reasonable. They offer a daily special. Two sauces available: sweet or hot. If dining in you order at the counter and then wait for your food. No table service. If you need a drink refill just walk up to the front. I had the chopped pork both times and it was mighty delicious. Having never had chopped bbq, I'd describe it as pulled pork that is then chopped down to easy to manage bites! The hush puppies are so so so good! We even got some extra ones to go for later!

Loved this place. Fine chopped pork bbq plate. Hush puppies were the best I've ever had - I'm not alone, voted best in NC. Sauce was vinegar based - I had the spicy - delicious. Pinto beans with raw onions were awesome. Finished it off with vanilla pudding. They don't have a website - so you have to just go in. Totally worth it!

The food is always tasty and service is quick! It's a pretty spacious restaurant with counter service. They have specials during the week like chicken pie and half chicken. Friday features half chicken with barbecue sauce--it often sells out so go early if you are interested. My favorite hush puppies are from Henry James, especially with honey butter. I get the same chopped bbq sandwich each visit because it's always delicious! I would definitely recommend.

I got my takeout lunch today because they looked great. A little quiet, arriving just after opening time and with only one couple sitting at a table. They have an organized system of queueing around the outside, placing your order and then paying for it. I don't know if they do table service - I didn't ask.A large platter of pulled pork with cole slaw came with a bunch of hush puppies. Yes, I ate one of them and it was great. Though it would have been better with some butter.As for the barbecue, it was quite good. Certainly plenty of it though I found it a little salty and needing the sauce just a bit. Not great, but very good. I enjoyed it. Well if you are looking for a quick bbq bite and not breaking your wallet( i walked away with a full happy belly), this is a place to try. It is not typical grill/ high end bbq place, but definitely offers surprisingly good bite if you are looking for beef ribs( i personally am a huge fan of it), the price and food quality is far exceed than what you would thought. The entry is nothing fancy, open space, fast line for ordering, a few local folks were there for lunch when i was there. Menu is easy to read, service is great! And my 4 pieces of beef ribs were covered with good sauce and meat were falling out/ sliding out of the bones easily.Fresh slow without too much mayo, fries just regular fries. Before I leave, ordered another beef rib plate for dinner and that was how impressed i was!

Talk about a diamond in the rough. Driving thru North Carolina at 8pm starving and not much open to get a hot meal. We found Henry James in Rudolph County. If your not looking for it you will drive by. We stopped in and they were open till 9pm. The ordering and service area reminded me a little like a concession stand at a football game. This was not bad thing though.The family and I each ordered the pulled pork tray that comes with 3sides. I had the hush puppies,fries and pinto beans. The fam got mashed potatoes, barbecued beans and a side of green beans. Let me tell ya the pulled pork was so moist you didn't need any sauce. But I had to try their hot and regular bbq sauces. What a taste. The hot wasn't stupid hot and the regular was a little runny but so good. I think they may make it with malt vinegar,it went great with the hush puppies. Let's get to Those puppies. I would say pan fried. Like a good meatball crispy on the outside and so soft on the inside. You get an amazing corn bread flavor with every bite. And the quantity is great. I was eating them more then my pulled pork which I eventually took home. I want to say the mashed potatoes are made fresh because of the small pieces of potato but I couldn't tell. The bbq beans were to die for. Overall great fast food and a wonderful takeout restaurant. If in the area I would definitely look them up. Enjoy

This is our second time here they didn't disappoint. The pork ribs were off the bone greatness.

Holy hell, the beef rib special is an incredible deal. Less than $10 including for 4 gigantic ribs, one side and 2 rolls is phenomenal. You can't buy ribs from a butcher for that price!
