Heart and Soul Soul Food and Lounge

Well...every place can't be a winner!My family shared they wanted me to sample the food at this establishment..so I was down to see what Heart & Soul was all about!Sadly, I was disappointed in many of the items offered: ox tails (fatty); yams (bland); collard green (not bad); baked beans (so-so); wingettes (not cooked long enough & sauce added afterwards & saved the ribs for last (very tender..but they should bake the sauce in vs. adding sauce afterwards) IMHO!I am hopeful that maybe the other offerings are cooked with more love and seasoning!

Amazing local place you have to try! The wings were crispy and flavor full and the jerk Mac and cheese is a hearty helping and very tasty! The service and vibe inside the restaurant is great too!

My friend and I were really hungry and love soul food and this place was right around the corner from where we are. They didn't have collard greens they weren't doing the mac and cheese bowls but they had mac and cheese which didn't make any sense to me. This is my first time coming here I felt rushed to order as I was looking over the menu. It took 35 minutes for them to prepare two appetizers for me. Both of us appetizers were $7.95 a piece. I ordered a drink and got soda out of a 2 L bottle that was flat. Having once been a server myself I always and give a few dollars but I don't know why because I felt like the service sucked and they could have done so much better.

Look at my past reviews the food is amazing however the service is lacking. I ordered a to go order and repeated my order 2x my husband was sitting right next to me and heard the order as well. Upon arrival I was given a full order instead of the half I ordered..no big deal but I was also given the wrong item. I was expected to still pay for the meal. I asked if I could get what I ordered and the female cashier became aggressive. Another employee called the manager and the aggressive female cashier told many lies as I sat there and watched. I stated to her that I repeated my order twice why are you not being honest..at that point I went to the car and allowed my husband to handle the resolution because there is no way I'm going to argue over food that I'm paying for. I expected this at some point as the first time we visited the same aggressive cashier was arguing with her co worker I believe her cousin. My husband just called and said they were resolving things so there is a bright side however too much drama for food. I'm goodI had to come back because I'm not going to lie the food was so good! I really wish the cashier had a better attitude but my husband said the manager was really professional and fixed everything.

Southern cooking doesn't get any better than this! Black owned, excellent offerings of food cooked with perfect seasonings and love of their culture.Fried pork chops, oh my! Macaroni and cheese, heavenly. Chicken gizzards, wings, I could eat here everyday.On weekends, the line runs out the door!Glad it's close enough to work to order carry out lunches!You really can't be disappointed with anything on their menu.

Even though it's 9:30 pm and their website and door both say they close at 2 am AND their open sign is still on AND they had a family dining in, the woman at the back counter yelled across the room at me and my family that they were closed and then went back to playing on her phone. Pretty crap business model you got there.

On Saturday I was craving for some soul food. I decided to go order takeout. When I arrived the 2 young ladies who worked at the place left their heart out the door. No one greeted me and when I was ready to order no one asked me. I decided to take my hard earned money to Noma sushi .The 2 'young ladies' need to go to customer service training

Anytime we're looking for a home-cooked meal that I don't have to cook, we're headed to Heart and Soul! It's a small, family-owned restaurant that makes you feel as though you're going to your family's house for dinner. Some people may be turned off by the setup of the restaurant, but for us, we love it. Small metal tables with a roll of paper towels, so you won't ever need to ask for napkins! The servers have always been friendly to the point that you almost want them to join you at your table. We've never had a complaint about the food either, the pork chops, ox tails, turkey wings, fried ribs, and their potato salad and fried okra!!! THE BEST!!! Oh... and dontforfet to get some Soul Juice for your drink!!

The service was great. The food was good. The place was clean and not greasy smelling.

Food is always good, but the staff, particularly the younger ones, ruin this place. If they are family, they DEF need to be sent on their way. Unprofessional, Rude, Mess up orders, and don't seem to care in the slightest.
