It was pretty busy when I arrived, and a little too hot to stand inside, so I waited a moment outside before ordering. As it began to clear out, I got in, ordered my food as suggested by someone at the Chicago Sky game, and was out in about 10 minutes. Which I had not been expecting because everyone kept talking about how long the wait is and such. Eating it, I think I would have preferred to have the sauce on the side. I wasn't a huge fan of the mild sauce, but that's how I was told to order it to fully get the experience of a Chicago staple. It wasn't bad or anything; I just enjoyed the pieces that didn't have the sauce a little more. lol Overall, I'd say it was a pleasant experience and I'd return to try out a little more on the menu.

Harold's Chicken Shack in the South Loop offers a unique and flavorful take on fried chicken. One of the highlights is their willingness to accommodate customized requests. Whether you prefer your chicken extra crispy or with a specific seasoning, they are attentive to these details. The food itself is quite tasty, with the chicken being cooked to perfection--crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The sides are also well-prepared, adding to the overall meal experience. However, one downside of dining at Harold's is the heat. During peak hours, the restaurant can get uncomfortably hot, especially while waiting for your order. This can detract from the dining experience, especially during warmer months.Overall, Harold's Chicken Shack in the South Loop is a solid choice for fried chicken enthusiasts, with its delicious food and willingness to cater to customized requests. Just be prepared for the heat if you visit during busy times.

A 40 minute wait on a Friday night!!! I wanted to avoid going into details but I think I should explain this:- Poor preparation by kitchen staff- Poor communication by customer service- Poor food planning by managementIt's Friday night. When I place my order they told me 15-20 minutes. I had my toddler in the car with her grandmother while I thought this would be a sufficient wait time even though she was hungry and it was past her bedtime. Okay context is given so you can understand my frustration. It broke my heart to see bags of orders being placed to the side while customers waited in house to pick up the food we placed in house OR called in advance. What's the point of calling in advance if you still must wait 20 minutes. I didn't call but I felt the pain of those in the moment. And the food delivery comes first now?! What world is this post pandemic?!Then a 75 wing order from someone clearly from out of town (she asked for tartar sauce with a southern drawl) was not ready when they arrived. This makes me think that all 75 wings were dropped when they arrived. This is probably exactly what happened which doubled my wait time. See points above. I finally get home and rush to feed my child before putting her to bed because now we are all frustrated and cranky. My husband who is an educator and had a bad day at work, the entire reason I stopped for fried chicken which is supposed to be comfort food, immediately tells me to never eat there again. His 6 wings has sauce on 2 of the wings. So not only did we wait for nasty food but they cheated us on the sauce and I should not have to pay an extra $2 for my food to be sauced right. That's the one thing that should have been easy to do!! Not to hate on the ladies working late night but maybe there needs to be some more energetic and vibrant folks with the ability to expedite orders with the necessary care in order to meet minimum expectations cause Betty and Sojourner moved slow - Epic Fail!!!Don't waste your time or money. There are 100 Harold's in Chicago. Find another one or go to Uncle Remus. Our family of south-siders might have to convert for our own sanity!

Bring from out of town my friends and I heard that we had to try Harold's Chicken. There are several locations throughout the city. This location was closest to our hotel. There is no parking lot but there was parking on the street. When walking in we're warmly greeted by the cashier. She kindly explained the menu to us due to us not being from the city. We placed our order and found a table to sit at. The restaurant had a full bar but there was a mildew smell. The chicken wings were okay not the best but nicely fried. Their signature mild sauce was very good. I would like to try other locations one day. But this a nice one closer to the downtown area.

Good Food but they play games by locking there doors over a hour before closing. They clearly focus on going home on time instead of making there money.

Fresh, crispy, seasoned to perfection what more can you ask for. I visited this location over the summer after leaving the Black Women Expo at the McCormick Place and have been hooked since! The customer service is great and the wait is reasonable. I only time I can receive chicken on this level is traveling to the south side to 87th & The Dan Ryan, I highly recommend this place. I usually order in person to go but the last 2 times we ordered through UberEats and chicken was still warm, fresh, tasty and secured perfectly for delivery.

If you want service come an hour after they open or else they will just stare at you through the door. This may be why they removed the hours from their door. I watched them open the doors for customers they felt like opening the doors for. The prices are ridiculous now. $10.25 for a 4 wing dinner with no drink. Don't bother phoning ahead either. Work on customer service as well. The food is still good and the place seems clean.

Downtown location.. Wasn't crowded, everything was cooked to order... Food was fresh and hot, ordered a bucket of wings, fries, and a side of grapes and bananas pudding. Wings and fries was really good with the mild sauce on the side and the banana pudding was really good.. Great service and everything was takeout.

So my husband picked up our wings. I got 4 and he got 7. The bill came to $36.82. WTH. I asked to see the receipt and saw that there was a $7 "misc" fee. I tried to call and ask what was the misc for - you know there was no answer and the mailbox was full. AND the food was trash. And they didn't give me coleslaw. Check your receipt!!! I guess they pocketing the extra money.

This one is not as good as the one that was on 14th St. and state the chicken legs are the smallest I've ever seen. The seasoning is mediocre. They serve no waffles my opinion it doesn't meet the great chicken that Harold attended for it to be.
