I missed my Singaporean food. Found this place while vacay in Philly . Food was delicious not really spicy but tasty. We packed the small portion rendang , medium portion Sayor lodeh, small eggplant sambal and rice all for $30. I can't wait to try the jackfruit lodeh next visit.

There's a lot to love about this Indonesian hole in the wall. It's homemade cooking from East Java made with love and a mixed rice plate can include all kinds of options so you have your choice. Tofu, tempeh, rendang (coconut infused beef), gudeg (jackfruit stew) and more. I have been at least four times over the last five years and always enjoy my visit.Prices seem to have gone up as they have earned more recognition. Not sure that is warranted compared to other great Asian restaurants that have better ambience and real cutlery. They serve food on single use plates with plastic. That's too bad.

This is easily one of the best restaurant experiences that I've had in Philadelphia. This no-frills establishment serves excellent Southeast Asian food.Be prepared to stand long line as many people come here to get food. With a few tables available, you can expect a little bit of weight if you want to eat, eat at the restaurant. The restaurant serves everything by the scoop. Prices of the scoops vary between 2 to 7 dollars. You can get an extremely satisfying meal for around $20-$25 here.Every item here is exceptional. I highly recommend the egg and tofu curry, the beef rendang, and the potatoes in coconut milk. Make sure you get a scoop of their spicy sambal sauce. The first scoop of that is free.Service is exceptional. There is one woman who owns the place that runs the entire thing herself.Trust me when I say, this will be one of the best meals you get to eat in the city.

This is by far my favorite place to eat in Philly. I've been going since a plate of rice and three sides were eight dollars! During my most recent visit, I was surprised to see that they were charging by the side dish instead of the plate but I understand why. What used to be eight dollars was now 21 and honestly it was completely worth it. The flavors are perfect. One of my go to is the jackfruit. You may find it hard to get a seat in this tiny space so consider takeout. Lastly, I love the family who owns this restaurant. They are so friendly and warm.

When I went to Hardena, the food is already prepared, and it is served cafeteria style. Each side is $2-$8 and my food was around $24, not including my drink, which was $7-$8. For my mixed rice plate, I ordered the bakwan (corn fritter), terong balado (eggplant in sweet and savory red pepper sauce), ikan (fish of the day), rendang (beef stewed in coconut milk and spices), and rice. I also got the cendol drink (homemade pandan jelly, coconut milk, ice and palm sugar syrup). You're supposed to mix the drink since the palm sugar syrup is at the bottom and they give you a spoon to eat it with instead of a straw. If you do not want rice, I recommend telling them at the beginning of your order since the worker scooped rice automatically for my plate. The corn fritter was delicious and perfectly crispy. The eggplant was flavorful and not spicy. The fish was tasted like curry fish and the beef was very tender. Overall, it was a lot of food and the portion was generous that I was able to split it into two meals (lunch and dinner). For the drink, I do not recommend getting the cendol. The pandan jelly had an almost mushy texture (overly soft) and I'm not sure if it's because of the palm sugar syrup, but my stomach hurt after drinking it, even though there was not any dairy. I went on a rainy Thursday afternoon and the place was pretty packed. In the restaurant, they only have 5 tables, but luckily I was able to grab a seat. Overall, the workers were friendly and they were gave me a container to take my leftovers when I asked. I would recommend coming here again for Indonesian food!

Hardena has some of the best Indonesian food I've tasted in all of Philly. From their eggplant to their chicken skewers, they're selection is amazing. On the other hand their service is lacking and restaurant is very small. Beyond understanding what the individual taking the order is saying, it's difficult to identify what is what from their menu. A chicken skewer order results with a large box containing five chicken skewers. However, we thought they were asking for the number of chicken skewers. They also did not clear out customers that completed their meals so that upcoming customers have a place to sit.

I'd heard great things about Hardena, repeatedly from a wide spectrum of folks. It lives up to every good word that has been said. Located in an unassuming corner spot in Point Breeze, you order from a layout of amazing options, with rice as the base.
