FINALLY made it Gu's!I'm a late night dinner guy and always in Midtown for lunch, so finally remembered to get here and try some noodles and dumplings.Being a Pescatarian did limit my choices which I'm sure are far greater in popularity and expertise than what I got but nonetheless I can easily see myself getting back up here for lunch! The vege dumplings were good (I wish they made a shrimp version) and the dipping sauce was nice.I've been obsessed with the Chengdu Cold Noodles ever since I had them years ago at their Krog St location. So I had to get those! (Again, wish I could have added a protein like tofu, shrimp or squid, but they hit the spot!)My GF got the thick noodles which had a fun texture and very similar if not identical sauce as the Chengdu noodles. Also got egg drop soup. Very tasty but would have loved a richer broth. Seemed a little watered down from either a chicken stock or mix of vege stock?Just nit picking here.Looking forward to getting back and trying the green beans I saw arriving at everyone else's table. The service was quick and I appreciated the nice cutlery and chop sticks.

Gu's Kitchen is a family-owned casual restaurant in Chamblee featuring Szechuan food. They have other locations at Krog Street Market and Alpharetta. I have ordered dumplings from Gu's via delivery, but took advantage of Chamblee Restaurant Week to dine in. Gu's Kitchen is close to the intersection of Buford Highway and Chamblee-Tucker Road and is MARTA-accessible via the 39, 126, and 133 buses. Gu's Kitchen is intimate, bright, and airy, with classical music playing in the background. I also appreciated learning about Szechuan and its cuisine from the menu and the table numbers. We were greeted and seated immediately. Food and beverages came out very quickly, especially considering it was during Chamblee Restaurant Week and there was a steady stream of to go orders. We were well taken care of at Gu's Kitchen, as the staff was friendly and attentive. We ordered the Handmade Sweet and Spicy Thick Noodles, Zhong-Style Pork Dumplings, Stir-fried String Beans, and Spring Rolls. I love, love, love Gu's sweet and spicy Zhong sauce. The noodles had a new chew to them. The noodles are more spicy than sweet, but very delicious. Gu's dumplings are one of my cravings, and I have eaten them several times. The dumplings weren't as tasty as I have had them; I could have used a little more flavor inside the dumpling. But they were still good. The string beans were delicious. The minced garlic and pickled Chinese cabbage really added complexity, and the string beans had the right amount of crisp. The spring rolls were also tasty. My husband is a spring roll connoisseur, and he remarked that he didn't need the dipping sauce to enjoy the rolls. It is great to have so many tasty vegetarian options!I can't wait to go back, as I want to try the Dan Dan noodles, crab rangoon, Szechuan French Fries, and the Instagram-worthy Chengdu Cold Noodles.

If you want spice order these noodles. It comes as vegetarian and meat option. Other reviews have explained so much. I'm just going to agree with all the positives. Plenty of parking, quick service, specials, small space but they maximize on seating, and friendly service. You can order online for pickup. This food, service gets a thumbs up and return visit.

My favorite Sichuan restaurant in ATL that has a plenty of vegetarian options. My favorite is their cold noodle, and has been my staple go to. Another favorite menu item is their vegetable dumplings, the spicy/sweet sauce over the dumplings is truly my favorite. It's a great place for take out or dine in. If you like Sichuan food, this is a place you should try!

How have I been to Gu's Kitchen so often but never sat down to write a review???Actually this is the second Gu's I visited, the first being with a friend at the Krog street location when they first opened. I was not a fan of that location, but this one, is infinitely better.I'll focus on the order I took away today:Spicy crispy beef: $20.90Dan Dan noodles: $15.40Spring rolls: $4.40I really love the spicy crispy beef, which is usually fried crispy, as the name suggests, and has dried red chili peppers, cilantro and garlic slices all throughout. You can punch the spice level up if needed, or you can choose no spice at all. Decent sized portions, although it's a little pricey for what you get.Dan Dan noodles are pretty good! These come topped with ground beef and green onion. The spice level here can also be modified if necessary. Call me crazy but I often steal some of the garlic, cilantro and peppers from the spicy crispy beef and combine it with some of my noodles. That makes the Dan Dan noodles really stand out to me.Honorable mention, because I didn't buy it today, but I do really like their porkbelly fried rice, if you're looking for an alternative to noodles, it's a winner! The spring rolls regrettably are nothing special, and you're better off getting the dumplings.Located off of Buford Hwy, in the Orient center (next to Pho bac for reference), parking is pretty easy, and there's a number of exits in and out.I've been to Gu's Kitchen for years and it'll likely remain a staple in my go to places to eat. Come here first before going to any of the other Gu's locations.

Anybody who knows anything of the legend and lore of Buford Hwy can tell you about the greatness that is Gu's. Known for their dumplings and noodles and Sichuan goodness, this location is back in business and will serve you up some happiness in a bowl rather quickly. This Gu's location has a very streamlined menu that is designed to facilitate fast service and easy take-out. I was in a rush, and asked the lady behind the counter what would be the fastest thing to prepare. She told me to get the Dan Dan noodles. She was right. They reached my table lickety-split. and I descended on them like Godzilla taking out Tokyo. Next time I want to try the sweet & spicy thick noodles. Holler if you're coming with.

The fried rice was white without much flavor. I paid $16 for two cups of fried rice, and an additional $16 for 1.5c of broccoli chicken. Definitely not at all worth it. Never returning here.

Honestly amazing. Everything was fresh and came out piping hot. The Kung pao was delicious and I want to try their allll their other options like the Dan Dan noodles and pork belly fried rice. I'd probably get the pork dumplings over chicken next time but everything was so so good. Well worth the drive.

Great food. Limited menu but what they have is fantastic. Not a lot for folks who can't eat spicy but if you can, this is the place.
