Ground Up Cafe & Coffee

Ground Up Cafe is a great neighborhood spot. I go regularly for their sandwiches. I like their chicken salad on either a wrap or croissant the best! I also order the tuna salad sandwich regularly. And sometimes I order the BLT or bacon, egg and cheese on a croissant...both of those sandwiches are good, too! The think I appreciate the most is the consistency of how the chicken salad and tuna salad are made. You always know what you're going to get. It's not like some places where the consistency or flavors change day by day. So hats off to the Ground Up team for doing what they do so well! Ground Up has a solid base of regular customers, which I think speaks highly of the cafe. Also, I like the music they play - Whoever picks the music has great taste!

I had high hopes for this place because of how cute the outside is. The coffee was subpar because my hot dirty chai and iced mocha just tasted like espresso. I was hoping for some spiced flavor. The long sandwiches were kind of mid and bland. I had to drench my sandwich in hot sauce for some flavor. Compared to all the cafes in Philly, I just know there's a few with better coffee and sandwiches.Also, there were a lot of flies in the seating area, although it was inside and in the back. I did like how each table had a cup of cute questions to ask your companions.

I was so impressed with this establishment today. I think the name of the shop is misleading since it is so much more than just a coffee shop. While they do serve Elixir coffee and other drinks, they have a full food menu unlike most other "coffee shops." They have sandwiches and granola and a variety of pastries. As someone who always is on the hunt for the perfect egg and cheese, I was so excited to try one where the egg was fried (not baked) and the cheese was perfectly melted on top. This seems like the perfect neighborhood spot and they offer takeout as well. Service was timely and they have books for adults/kids to occupy you while you wait (such a clever idea!)

A cute coffee shop with a cozy vibe in my neighborhood. I love the music playlist. All the staff are friendly and sweet. The coffee is delicious, and the parfait is yummy. It's my new spot to get my work done

Ground Up is a cute coffee shop on East Passyunk with nice indoor seating and one outdoor table for two. We came on a weekday morning and they had a good crowd. I think they use Elixir coffee which I always enjoy. We each ordered iced oat lattes - both were good, but the ice was mostly melted before walking out the door. Not a huge deal as we just added more when we got home. They have a great selection of flavors to add, including white chocolate and toasted coconut - our choices today. Would return and hang out in their space with some food next time.

Absolutely loved this little cafe. The ambiance is very homey! Seems like a place I'd enjoy studying or working remotely from. I ordered a coffee, a croissant with ham, cheese, and egg as well as some pastries. Everything was enjoyable and fresh. The service was quick and kind! Would return any day!

Eh. I tried again and again to love the food, but it's mediocre at best. Same goes for the coffee. Meh.

The perfect little coffee and breakfast sandwich spot. I love coming here on weekend mornings, ordering a coffee and sandwich, and sitting with my boyfriend playing the conversation game they have on the tables. It is the perfect way to start a great day.

Great breakfast and coffee! I ordered the lox bagel and a vanilla coffee and both were great. The breakfast sandwiches are very large so it's a good deal for the price. We ordered on a delivery app and it came pretty quickly. I would definitely order from here again! Solid coffee and food.

New review: similar to my old one:I LOVE ground up! The owner, Jen, is so sweet and an incredibly hard worker. To see her make it through the COVID pandemic is more than wonderful. They are fast and their food and coffee is EXCELLENT. For breakfast I love the wraps, the hoagie with potatoes on it is *fire* and if you want something extra yummy and greasy you got to try the ham and egg croissant with an egg on it!!!! The pastries are great. They are what you think of when you get that type of pastry- I love the chocolate scone- especially heated up a bit. For lunch the chicken salad is maybe the best I've had. Also, I would bring in my dog, Winnie, and she'd always give a treat and a pet. Please check out ground up- they are also excellent for ordering online for pickup or delivery. My wife orders on Grubhub and they are pretty quick and easy for delivery. Just check it out. You won't be disappointed! My older review:Ground up coffee shop is my #1 go to for coffee, morning treats and breakfast in this area. During this crazy pandemic small independently owned businesses are struggling. Ground up is being incredibly safe and the owner is the best! I just send her a text with my order and walk on over to pick it up. I have my dog with me and she always gives Winnie a treat (she asks first the first few times, but now knows it's ok). She takes payment using Venmo, so it's so incredibly safe and easy! Her pastries are standard morning staple pastries, and all delicious. I don't know why but I'm addicted to the chocolate chip scones. My daughter loves the croissants. The HAM AND CHEESE CROISSANT WITH AN EGG is the best! I don't know why more people don't put an egg in a ham and cheese croissant. It's so delicious! She also makes killer egg and cheese on long roll breakfast sandwiches. I am usually there for morning coffee, but I got her chicken salad sandwich the other day and THAT WAS DELISH! She also makes her own pumpkin bread, highly recommended...Before the 2020 coronavirus pandemic Ground Up was such a sweet, quiet nice coffee shop to sit in (and I can't wait for things to be safe for that to happen again soon!).
