Food is ok here. I recently moved to the Allegheny area of North Philly, which is rundown and in need of gentrification. The outside of this Chinese Take Away is very noticeable with its bright colors. The order area is encased in bulletproof glass because of the sketchy area. I ordered Happy Family and Wonton Soup; both of which were flavorful and not greasy. The only downside that I see to this place is the lack of acceptance of credit cards. There are atms inside, but with all the sketchy people around, I wouldn't risky using the atm inside. Arrive with cash ready!

The issue here is that this is the best place in the area, but if it were near Temple's main campus it would be very mediocre. Having said that, its still good and cheap. The people who work there are really nice. You get a lot of weird people in there, though. Its usually pretty busy, as its the most popular place around. About the menu? They have the same as any other chinese takeout place. I happened to like their beef dishes a lot, while the chicken ones weren't that great. Don't waste your time with eggrolls or wonton soup because they don't jack inside.

Some of the best Chinese food in this area. And apparently, they are 1 of the 100 Best Chinese takeouts in the US. At least thats what all the signs say inside the store. I give them a star for cleanliness, a star for service, a star for taste, and a star for healthy food options. Don't know how healthy those options really are but they're there. -1 star for the sketchy clientele that often hangs inside the store late at night. I would probably call ahead if its too late.

This place used to be one of my favorite chinese food take outs near my house. The women who usually took my orders were very pleasant and always made my food exactly as I ordered. Part of my order usually consisted of "fried chicken wings without flour." At times I would by-pass all other stores just to get my food from here but tonight (11-18-2016) that all changed. Tonight the pleasant chinese women were absent and only this kid in the photo below was taking orders. When I asked for the wings with no flour, this boy said he didn't understand what I meant so when I tried to explain it to him, he told me to get out of his store and go order some food some where else. I've never seen him working there before tonight and his attitude towards me and other black males that came into the store was demeaning and disrespectful. Why do people from other countries, especially the chinese who own stores in our communities believe that they can come to this country and act like animals. I understand if it is expected behavior in their own country, but one would assume that they are each told before they arrive here to not act like an animal or disrespectful the people who buy their food. I will be boycotting this Golden Dragon Chinese take until he has vacated the premises. Unless you want to experience Raw ignorance, I suggest that you do the same.. Nothing outstanding;overall mediocre Americanized chinese food. Restaurant has a tendency to skimp or simply leave out many essential ingredients in many of their dishes (e.g., no red or red bell peppers, minuscule pieces of beef, shrimp or pork, etc.)Look out for the mushy fried rice and over fried & flavorless chicken wings!Best dishes: shrimp & broccoli , general Tso's chicken and chicken noodle soup - caution: many of the dishes listed on the menu - are for show only , they aren't actually available!Service is relatively quick and prices are reasonable! Wide selection of snacks and beverages! Ambiance - what can I say ? Ample on street parking is usually available

North Philly is an automatic -2 stars. If you want chinese food, and go to either temple med or temple dental, this is your only choice. Variety is good though. I mean there are all the food carts and stuff around, but if you want "sorta" chinese food then, again, your only choice. It's not bad. Don't expect real chinese food. This is american chinese food. This place is pretty ghetto. They have bullet-proof glass up. Its North philly...But I mean its pretty cheap, and the quality is decent. The service is amazingly slow, and honestly you don't to be staying there longer then you have to, so perhaps call ahead.I would not go there alone. Unless you are physically intimidating on the outside. I feel uneasy being in there, but I'm 5'6" and asian.Food will probably give you a heart attack, but it hits the spot.

I recently moved away from North Philadelphia, and I cannot say Golden Dragon did not play a part in that decision.

Came here for chinese donuts. The place is located along the little strip of stores near Temple HSC and hospital. Looks safe during the daytime. The lady up front was nice and friendly. The inside looks clean and the menu was standard takeout. One thing special was that they serve meat on rice platters and noodle soup. Pretty cool and the prices are on par with other chinese take out resturants. Now the donuts were $.50 more than what I usually pay but whatever. Service was fast and when I opened the container, the donuts were lined up nicely and it was awesome that the chef let the donuts sit out so the oil drops out. That way the sugar doesn't clump up. Overally it's pretty good quality for donuts. Will try something from their lunch menu.
