Expansive and exciting menu. This is my second day here and I just can't get enough of this place. The staff are so nice and welcoming! I went to Japan at the end of last year and I've been obsessed with Japanese food ever since then. Most places you go to are sushi restaurants that may have a few other Japanese culinary offerings as well... NOT THIS PLACE! Yes, they do have sushi, but it's not even on the main menu. What they DO have is 6 pages chock full of fried, grilled, or raw delicacies that you just have to taste to believe.Coupled with the old Japan aesthetic, you'll come back to this place again and again. I hate that I'm even giving up my new little secret favorite place, but I feel the works deserves to try this place!

No frills izakaya with very good food. We actually went twice in the last 30 days and tried a myriad of their dishes. Some of the highlights:* Very good: renkon chips (fried sliced fresh lotus roots), fatty tuna (toro), salmon carpaccio, shrimp and vegetable tempura, shishito peppers, king oyster mushroom, pork yakisoba, shiitake mushroom, salmon sashimi, plum fish flake onigiri, deluxe sushi assortment, and their rolls in general* Just OK: gyozas and ramen* Weak: tonkatsuSo all in all, Ginya Izakaya definitely delivers. We're very familiar with izakayas in Japan and we deem Ginya Izakaya to be both authentic and delectable.

I like Japanese food! From traditional, to fast, to Kaiseki, to Izakaya. Ginya and J have a love hate relationship. The interior is typical of a cool spot in Japan, menu looks pretty awesome! Beer is cold and food is warm. However some things here are amazing (sashimi), some things are meh (yakitori). Some nights are great and food is good and some are mediocre.Overall I would recommend it but really hope you land in a good night!

My experience at Ginya Izakaya was not great unfortunately. Maybe Sunday night is the wrong time to dine there. Maybe I chose the wrong food. My friends recommended it after a Friday night dinner they were enthusiastic about. Based on my experience the salmon avocado roll was just ok. The rice was not sticking together. Did not like the udon that much, we've had much better in other places. The place is beyond casual and to me the ambiance does not match with the type of cousins. Service was kind of slow and inattentive. Not worth the drive.

This place reminded me of the izakayas I visited in Japan - same interior decor, style, and of course, the food! The okonomiyaki with noodles was delicious. Others in the group I went with enjoyed their ramen and skewers as well. The Izeko jelly sparkling sake (yuzu) was delicious and refreshing. They didn't have the yuzu chuhai I originally wanted but offered orange instead...and I was handed half an orange and a citrus juicer to prep it myself which was an entertaining experience. Wasn't quite the yuzu chuhai or highball I loved while I was in Japan but the other food and drinks were great! There is a separate alcove in the front for groups that requires shoes to be taken off. There is plenty of parking available as this restaurant is located in a little plaza of sorts.

A group of colleagues and I visited Ginya Izakaya while in ATL for a work trip. I was surprised to see that they had a corner booth large enough to fit our group (10 people), but it was perfect! The restaurant had a casual atmosphere and was comfortable. We ordered a variety of drinks, appetizers and main courses once we were seated. While there, I tried: - Warm Sake: Something interesting to try, but wasn't something I'd order again- Cream Soda: We thought this would be like the cream soda you buy at the store but instead it is melon soda with vanilla ice cream and whipped cream. This isn't something our group liked or that I'd recommend. - Beef Skewers: I wasn't a fan of these as they tasted like charcoal from the grill but some others in the group enjoyed them- Pork Yakisoba: Absolutely delicious and something I'd order again! The service was good, but I didn't realize they had already added in a 20% tip for themselves as it isn't very noticeable on the receipt. I didn't realize until I looked back after the fact to realize they had gotten two tips then.

My sister and I stopped in during a storm and so glad we did!We went in without any idea of what we wanted but the huge menu gave us so many options! We opted for some takoyaki and gyoza starters. Then for our entrees we got a bowl of ramen, grilled eel, and sukiyaki. Everything came out pretty quickly and definitely delivered. Our waiter was super nice and patient with us since we could not make up our minds what we wanted. The vibe of the place is cozy and warm. Extremely welcoming considering there was a crazy storm going on outside. The only thing I didn't like too much was that my highball was pretty flat and weak. Though the small can of sake we also ordered made up for it big timeee. Probably going to be one of my future favorites.

If you love raw fish, look no further! Growing up eating sushi made by my dad, I'm extremely cautious and mindful about where I'm eating any raw seafood. Since Ginya is always busy, and you can see the chefs preparing the bowls, I felt comfy grabbing a sashimi don bowl here. My first experience was great, and for $20 I couldn't resist this tuna, salmon & eel bowl. I've come back more than a handful of times now and every time the fish is high quality the tastes so fresh. The appetizers are also great, my favorites are the squid legs and chicken karaage. The agedashi tofu left much to be desired, and I wouldn't recommend. The breading around the tofu was too soggy, and the sauce was lacking in flavor. The vibes of the restaurant are very cozy, yet open. Great place for a date or for moderate sized groups!

After 6 years of coming here, I had to write this review. This is one of the best budget friendly Japanase restaurant in ATL. Never disappointed and has been incredibly consistent. One of the few that survived the Pandemic, for a reason. Keep it up, we'll keep coming back.
