Genos VS Pat:: Did I just eat two cheese steaks in less than one hour? Yes I did, I will be taking no further questions at this time....I was told to come here by my boss (native phillian)..is that even a word; whatever....and try it in comparison to their rival across the street.I freaking wanted to not like it because A) the girl at the counter was SOOO barren of any happiness, literal desolate of any emotions (maybe this is just the character she's playing for this place to be memorable? Lol) whatever the case, and B) it's my Bosses favorite. You got to always agrue with the boss or are you even doing work right??Some would consider me a contrarian if you will, but I like getting down to the honest answer *slams fist on table* and not just believing the hype!Upon first unraveling this was JUICY overflowing with cheese. Listen I already had a whole fucking cheesesteak 15 minutes ago, I was not hungry; Until I saw this. Geno, you won. I didn't want to give it to you!....but you won fair and square. It was amazingly cheesy and the steak was juicy. Goddammit I didn't want this lol. YOU WON OKAY. Probably won't be back in Philly anytime soon but if anyone asks me, I am now able to give my opinion of the old age debate of Pats VS Geno. *shakes fists aggressively in the air*

Philly was most similar to NYC, easy parking unlike Boston, had an enchanting, most splendid, fancyPhiladelphia Museum of Art (fascinating Asian Art, featuring Ai Weiwei), giant statue of belovedSly Stallone's Rocky in front of PMOA, and OMG-epic, over 100 merchants food hall and market, Reading Terminal Market, a mecca for desserts, sweets lover. Most magical 2024 Philadelphia Chinese Lantern Festival (and Philly's Chinatown) was not at all on my Philly Road Trip itinerary, walking distance to Reading, and there's still time to see it until August 31, 2024. It's the Year of the Dragon, and Philadelphia Chinese Lantern Festival grandly celebrates Asian heritage with a lucky 200-foot long, 21-foot high, 6,000-pound fire-breathing dragon lantern! Ultimate WOW! Most majestic, 3D life-sized lanterns, a sight for sore eyes, lush and boldly colorful, intricately elegant, special shades of Asian art and culture.I want to talk about Philly Cheesesteak, nearly everyone's favorite Philly Cheesesteak must-spot Geno's Steaks, and how amazing Geno's Cheesesteak was. Pat's, directly across the street, accepts most payments while Geno's is cash only but Geno's was the more crowded Cheesesteak Restaurant, signaling a better cheesesteak, obviously.Geno's was Philly Cheesesteak glorious! Ingredients are all top-notch: sophisticated, discreet American Cheese, beautiful beefsteak, soft bread, caramelized onions- invariably, unbelievably good. I'm also a full-on fan of their tasty French Fries.

I visited during a recent business trip to Philly. Several years ago, I tried Pat's when they were featured on Good Morning America, so on this visit, I decided to come to South Philly again and try their neighbor and hated rival, Geno's.I ordered their pepper cheesesteak, which is $15. Their menu prices include tax but show you the breakdown in case you want to see or care. Cash, only, of course. I chose provolone. This sandwich was pretty food even though I just had a late lunch 2 hours earlier. It was on the dry side, and I distinctly remember having a cheesesteak at Pat's, which was super greasy, but that was many years ago, and they may be made differently now.Anyways, I enjoyed the sandwich, the curbside dining, the lighting of the seating area, and the condiment station. Their setup is a little more modern and nicer than their southern rival. The customer service was not the best as both ladies at the window are short with you, like they either hate their job or were annoyed. I was holding a phone in my hand while ordering. I know they serve many customers a day, but customers notice the little things about restaurant employees. I didn't try their fries because they're frozen, and I had just eaten frozen fries 2 hours previous to my visit. I also ordered a root beer, which was good but pricy at $4.

Very famous to eat when in Philadelphia. So I tried pats and Genos. Both are very similar to me. You order at the window and your get your sandwich at the next window. Parking around the restaurant is limited. Seating is all outside. There will be homeless people around. When I was there, a homeless guy was laying on the floor next to the pick up window. The meat was bland. No seasoning. I was not impressed. I won't be back.

We tried Pat's and Geno's on the same day. We each had a half of each sandwich. Geno's is slightly better, but not by much. Legends but not the best. Dalessandro's is light years better than either.

Docked a star because they only take cash. Only waited five minutes in line but people were hogging tables before they were ordering so we had nowhere to eat our food. Sandwich was good but not memorable.

So I'm in Philly for the first time and I am a huge Philly cheesesteak fan, back in Cali. My wife and in-laws sit down across the street at... you know the other place. My wife sends me over with instructions to get one with provolone and I do. The next guy behind me orders the cheesesteak with whiz. He didn't even say cheese whiz just whiz and I'm thinking "what..."BTW, Geno's is cash only and they have one window for the sandwich and another for fries, drinks, etc. So I get back and I look at the sandwich my wife bought and it has cheese whiz. "What happened" I ask, and she drops that she ordered the original way. Both were good but I would stick with the cheese whiz [I'm not cool enough or a local enough to order just the "whiz"]. You can't go wrong with either place and Geno's was very delicious. Heck thinking about it, I don't think I've ever had a bad Philly so I may not be that discerning critic. Like across the street, there are some metal picnic benches and tables. Everything seemed to be clean and well maintained.

What is this, a spite store?! Of all the locations in Philly, Gino's had to open across the street to a place with their title being the "King" of steaks?! I can picture in the business meeting:Let's make our cheesesteaks a dollar less AND accept credit cards! We'll stick it to old man Pat! HahaHey, if you want a cheesesteak then you've come to the right neighborhood. Ginos is like the cola wars, either you like Pepsi or Coke. These options are good to have in the world according to me. And I'm sure there are people like myself who bought from both locations and had a taste test. I did like the packaging from Ginos. The cheesesteak, once again Gynormas! You can feed a family with this sandwich. Me personally? I thought the meat was a little less seasoned than the other spot.Overall, it's a clean spot that accepts credit cards and is a dollar cheaper. There are tables outside if you wish to enjoy your cheesesteak. PS - the Italian market in Rocky II is around the corner.

Geno's Steaks is an iconic Philly Cheesesteak stand across from Pat's. They only accept cash and the line moves quick. There's street parking and a few tables to sit at outside if you're looking to eat the cheesesteaks hot. The cheesesteak was okay - I'd recommend going at least once to experience it while in Philly!

I was visiting from California and was so excited to try their famous Philly cheese steak. First of all, I asked for mine with provolone cheese and oregano, when I started eating it I noticed it had no cheese and definitely no oregano, don't know where the miscommunication happened. But the whole sandwich is flavorless, I MEAN NO FLAVOR!!!!! The meat has no flavor, the grilled onions have no flavor, obviously the lettuce and tomato have no flavor, I added mustard and mayo and still not good. I did not like it at all. Sorry
