Amazing home cooked food. No frills place that delivers delicious food. We travel through Wharton frequently and were looking for something besides fast food and we are thrilled we found this place! Someone in that kitchen sure knows how to cook, and portions are huge. Looking forward to our next trip through Wharton! Thanks Freddie's!

Was lookin for a local place to eat, so my friend referred me here. I decided to order the bacon cheeseburger and fries. Since this was my first time here I was a bit confused on the order and pay system and followed along. If you dine, You'll order, grab a drink from the cooler if you wish, and pay after you eat. The burgers are made to order so I waited for several minutes. The hamburger patty is super thick, still quite moist, and loaded with bacon. It was so huge and messy, I could've used a knife but didn't bother looking for one. If I'm in need of a good burger when I'm around, I'll definitely stop here.

After a late night exploring Wharton and sleeping soundly at the Teepee Motel, my friend and I were in dire need of a good breakfast. We'd noticed Freddie's the previous day and thought it looked promising so we dragged ourselves out of our teepee and headed over. Well, I'm certainly glad that we did! We walked in and were greeted by Freddie himself. The whole place smelled like bacon. It was amazing already. "Y'all want me to cook you some breakfast?" Freddie asked. We said yes and within moments he presented us with one of the most delicious breakfast sandwiches I've ever had. White bread, American cheese, a fried egg and copious amounts of bacon. I could say that I was surprised to be served something so simply fantastic at a half restaurant/half convenience store in small town Texas but I wasn't surprised at all. I knew as soon as I walked in that Freddie would uphold his sign's promise of being the right place to go When You're Really Hungry. My friend and I blissfully ate our sandwiches, flipped through that morning's local paper (WHS ended up winning the previous night's football game- go Tigers!) and contemplated the merits of moving to Wharton (and trust me, the merits are many).Freddie had disappeared into the back so we didn't get to thank him before we left so Freddie, if you're reading this, thank you for making us feel so at home and thank you for existing to serve the hungry folks of Wharton and even out-of-towners like ourselves. We really appreciated your hospitality.

A true gem!Wish we would have tried it sooner.It's a small, extremely reasonable priced, clean place and they are as nice as they can be.We ordered cheeseburgers and fries the first time. Delicious, huge and lots of fries for just and $1 extra.Couldn't finish it.Chocolate cake was delicious too.Today we ordered turkey & dressing with mashed potatoes & green beans.Hubby got the chicken and dumplings with pinto beans and cabbage. Huge portions too.

Freddie's cheeseburger baskets are very tasty. You can eat off this burger three times. I will recommend this place to anyone.

Im hardly ever in Wharton but when I do go anywhere near there, I make it a point to stop by Freddie's. You simply cannot go wrong. The food is awesome as is the owner.

Amazing food! I wouldn't change a thing! The cheeseburger is huge! The fries are seasoned perfectly! The tea is to die for I'd give it 10/10 if I could!

By far the best cheeseburger in Texas. The everyday buffet is amazing too. If your looking for a great home style meal this is the place to go

Freddie's has an old fashioned meat and 2 sides lunch Monday thru Friday. Everything is awesome, I have never had a bad meal there. The cheeseburger is huge and most of the time I can't finish it. A must for lunch if you are in the Wharton area.

The food was good, but the menu didn't list all of their prices and it was really expensive. The portions were really big, but it was messy. If you do a lot of work and need to eat a lot for it and have extra time, this place is for you.
