First and Last, located at the intersection of 3rd Ave and Roosevelt Street in the RoRo neighborhood, is a modern American restaurant that embodies a commitment to quality ingredients and a sense of community. Owners Ashley and Robb have thoughtfully created a welcoming space that caters to diverse tastes. The menu is dynamic, evolving with the seasons to showcase the freshest ingredients, complemented by an intriguing selection of wines, creative cocktails, and a curated tap list. My experience began with a perfectly crafted mezcal Negroni, setting the tone for the evening. The Heirloom Tomato Tartine appetizer, featuring fennel, gorgonzola crème, and fig vinaigrette, was a delightful start. For the main course, the Grilled Swordfish, paired with fermented tomato gazpacho, cucumber, and salsa verde, was a highlight. Each dish was not only beautifully presented but also exquisitely flavorful. First and Last is a must-visit in the RoRo neighborhood, offering a superb dining experience that stands out for its dedication to quality and innovation. Oh - and don't forget about the Amari bar located in the basement - open Friday and Saturday nights - but call first as they sell out fast.

I have been here twice and both were for special occasions. The first time that we went there was with a big group of friends to celebrate birthdays. The restaurant prepared our combined table in advance based on our reservations. We started with some cocktails which were delicious. Some of us had pastas, and main dishes, and others also had appetizers such as fries and veggies. The pasta was outstanding. We couldn't stop thinking about it.The second time that we went there was to celebrate our anniversary. We made a reservation and sat at one of the lower tables in the corner. It seemed very cozy and Instagram-able, but it was not very comfortable to our likings. We had some cocktails, pastas, and calamari. The cocktails were good, and we liked how the bartenders did the riff of the classic cocktails, such as gin martini and Manhattan. The pastas were good, however it was a bit chewy and savory this time. The calamari was fresh and lightly breaded. We were hoping to check out the speakeasy within the restaurant called Little Ritual, but they were booked out for the night. I wish we could find out about this information online somewhere so we knew how to plan our trips in advance. But we definitely want to come back and check out the speakeasy in the future.

This place was great. We had a reservation for 6pm and it was busy, so I'd recommend making a reservation. We ordered the Gas Pedal (espresso martini) and Cat in the Dark. They were both great. We also ordered the Whipped goat cheese which was absolutely incredible. So creamy and came with slices of Noble bread. I highly recommend it! We sat upstairs which was nice but the atmosphere was fun, bright and happy!

Tucked away in downtown Phoenix, First & Last is a hidden gem of food magic. The ambiance here is laid-back cool girl who loves nature--super inviting and relaxing. They have a great selection of alcoholic options and non-alcoholic choices like custom mocktails, which were delightful. The starters are all creative and unique in their own ways. The whipped goat cheese? Absolutely delicious. There are so many drool-worthy options for entrees that we ended up asking our server for recommendations just to choose. They also provide gluten-free substitutes and pasta options, which is a big plus.Took an absolute wild flavor journey tonight! Would recommend 10/10.

Had an exceptional experience at first and last! This is a must try restaurant in downtown phoenix!! First and last is perfect for a nicer dinner out, special occasion, date night etc. The inside is intimate and vibey. Sat at the bar and recommend making a reservation because they fill up. Was seated promptly and service was good. The food and drink here was spectacular! Tried the sunrise to my sunset cocktail which is their version of a chocolatey espresso martini and it's one of the best I have had in town. Got their delicata squash appetizer which was perfectly roasted and flavorful. The star of the show was their cacio e pepe with a truffle breaded jammy egg on top. I still think about this dish. Everything about the noodle shape, the thickness of the dish, and the egg on top was perfect. One of my favorite pasta dishes I have tried in the Valley. Didn't get the chance to but have heard wonderful things about their attached speakeasy little debbie's downstairs from the restaurant, so will make sure to check it out next time. Get here ASAP!

First off, the Service was amazingly great. Waitress did a great job explaining/describing the food, provide a relaxing mood, and kept everything in a good flow. The food was delicious and light. The menu changes regularly. The broccolini we had was served on a refreshing green goddess sauce. The Calamari was the lest of our favorite, just was okay due to flavor and the batter that just fell off. My wife and I ordered the seasonal halibut that was a riff on fish and chips. It was light and flavorful, with all the textures you want. We also ordered the carbonara and followed suit. Flavorful from an egg yolk sauce with mushrooms and peas.We finished with a tiramisu that left us satisfied. I liked the mezcal cocktail served in the cactus glass but the bourbon with banana left an artificial taste. Over all we would go back in a couple months to check out the new menu. Maybe sit at the bar for a little bit of entertainment.

We visited First & Last once before and wanted to bring our friends along this time, as we thoroughly enjoyed the food and ambiance, and thought they would too. The restaurant has a beautiful vibe, with low lighting and impressive artwork, as well as an open kitchen where you can watch the food being prepared. Our server arrived and took our drink order, offering helpful suggestions about the menu. We opted for the steak and grilled broccolini, while our friends also chose the steak and grilled asparagus as well as the bacon sourdough bolognese. Everything was delicious, especially the flavorful and tender steak. We will definitely return to try more of their dishes as they rotate their menu weekly.

Very cool vibe- mid century modern, relaxed. Whatever the new trendy term for hipster- that's this place! The service was great, and they are very conscious of food allergies! The drinks and the food were both delicious. We got the oysters to start- absolutely perfect! I got the summer squash and ricotta pasta and it might be my favorite meal ever. So creamy and summery and delicious. My husband got the veal parm. It was HUGE. So good- he ate as much as he could. Great presentation!! Would recommend this to anyone.

Came here for restaurant week and it's a beautiful restaurant. Got the mocktail man's best friend and it was delicious. For starters I got the cy's salad and it was good. My friend got the asparagus and she liked it. I got the cacio e pepe and it was the best one I ever had. So much flavor. My friend got the Mary chicken and wasn't a fan so she sent it back and got the rabbit and wasn't a fan of that either. For dessert we got the tiramisu and it was a good balance. We both loved it. We also tried the strawberry lavender panna cotta, wasn't a fan of this one, tasted like soap.

Loved it all! From the time you are greeted by the host and seated...until you walk out, it's first class. Service was on point, food was excellent! We enjoyed their clams as an appetizer, it was lovely but the grilled bread made it perfect. We shared the grilled swordfish and the pork belly. We weren't sure which was better, we loved them both. Can't wait to return for a second try soon!
