I've been looking for a good Indonesian place. Watching a lot of Uncle Roger videos lately and enjoying egg fried rice will do that to you. Just happened to drive past here at lunch and got compelled. It's basically a street side stand in a small building... exactly the type of atmosphere I love. The woman running the place immediately recommended the Nasi Padang combo since it had a little of everything. I went with it. It's basic. It's straightforward. And it's excellent. Nothing hit me as amazingly good, it was just all really good if that makes sense. I would eat more of that chicken on its own. Sometimes the best food comes in a plastic container from a street corner.

My last Philly trip had that old familiar heartbreak: unexpected place turns up on Uber Eats, reviews suggest it's a unique must-try, then I just miss closing time. Today, I ordered from the train station before I got to the hotel. The Nasi Padang Combo, only $11, offers a stunning range of spices. The vegetable curry has a respectable mid-level coconut-based sauce. The incendiary sambal is best enjoyed in small doses on the fried chicken or the egg. The most fascinating topping of all was the red one adorning the tofu, fiery but also with some sweetness.

This place has a lot of great to-go indonesian foods such as nasi goreng, etc. right down the block fro indonesia restaurant. You can go in and order an item like nasi ayam goreng (rice w/ fried chicken), but it is primarily for catering, and it supplies food to other restaurants, churches and private parties. Their prices arent posted anywhere and there isnt anywhere to sit down, just a glass window where you place your order.the main purpose of this buisiness is to provide food for private parties, churches or other restaurants and shops that serve indo food. you can get something yourself, but its not true-ly a restaurant.

THIS is the authentic stuff. The menu is hand-written and taped up to the bullet proof glass, there's no seating, and this single woman behind a worn out kitchen gives you food in a styrofoam case. As a south-east asian, this is where it's at. The food is seriously authentic. You'll whiff smells that will make you uncomfortable. You'll eat flavors that you didn't know existed. You'll pay so little that you wonder if this is against the law.I honestly don't even want to post a review, out of fear that some hipster will read this and think it's all trendy to visit this place and hipster up the place.PLEASE HIPSTERS, DON'T RUIN THIS PLACE LIKE YOU RUINED HARDENA. GO BACK THERE AND ENJOY YOUR 9 DOLLAR SOUP and 4 DOLLAR PIECE OF MYSTERY MEAT.

Fan's cafe is definetly one of the best Asian food restaurants in all of Philadelphia & even all of Pennsylvania. The food is aromatic & very flavorful. I would highly reccomend Fan's cafe to anyone who wants great take out food.

Stopped by here today with my brother on one of his whims. There are definitely no places to sit, so calling it a "cafe" is a bit of an over- exaggeration. There really isn't even a takeout menu (in English anyway). And the woman behind the glass doesn't have the greatest knowledge of the English language. However, the list of specials DID have a description of the platter, and prices were pretty damned reasonable. Overall, we paid $13.50 for two entrees and a side dish. And you know what? It was pretty friggin AWESOME! I wish I could identify what the lady fed us, but it had something to do with shrimp, beef, a peanut dip and some fried tofu and boiled egg. Whatever it was it was GOOD. We completely housed it down and had some leftovers for later. Not bad for $13.50.

Real original Indonesian foods with very reasonable price. Had bala-bala, empek-empek, batagor, fried flat rice noodle, and literally everything tasted exactly like how you would get them in Indonesia. The lady was also very nice. Seeing me coughing, she right away gave me a bottled water, and didn't even charge me.Will come back for sure.

Personally, this is one of my favorite places to grab a meal at in the city. Friendly Staff, great food, and super affordable prices. Really makes me feel both welcomed and with a full stomach every time I leave the place. Would definitely recommend to anyone who is looking for a great meal at a great price!
