Family Spot Jamaican Restaurant

Woke up with a craving for some good ackee & salt fish. Being as though I'm not from Philly I had to rely on Yelp! This was the only place that I could find nearby that was open at 8am. Stopped in and was greeted and order taken immediately with a few options given. Unfortunately, there were no fries plantains so instead I had to get the boiled banana. Instead of the boiled dumpling I decided on the fried ones and received 3 large dumplings. This large portion(at least for me and it was a small) was only $9. Ok on to the taste. It really wasn't bad at all. I wasn't expecting much flavor but there was and it was fresh, didn't taste like it was just warmed up. Small lil cozy place. Not sure if I'd stay and eat but the food was good.

Was searching for a Jamaican spot and came across this place by googling online.I Never been here before so I was worried it wouldn't be good but boy was I wrong this place is delicious. This is a hidden gem I would definitely go back. I had the fried chicken sweet potatoes Mac and cheese and festival and my hubby had the jerk chicken white rice with peas and the Mac and cheese. This was the best Jamaican food I had. I would definitely go back again.

Ordered oxtail, rice and peas, and cabbage via Uber eats .. oxtails are basically black, didn't give the correct rice or side that I ordered nor did they call to mention the substitutions.. also asked for no gravy on the rice to which they put all over the rice. Edited to add my food also has hair in it

So I got the cabbage and Oxtails boy o boy let me tell you in my Terminator voice I'LLLL BE BACCCCKK

I absolutely loved this place. I was skeptical bcuz there weren't any reviews or nobody mentioned this place. I ate the curry chicken and it really hit the spot. All of the food was fresh and BANGIN! Curry chicken, rice and peas, cabbage, beef pattie and plantins ALL GOOD. Will definitely go back, it wasn't too crowded either

I ordered from this place for lunch one day because a co worker said they had good food. I got the curry chicken with cabbage and candied yams. Let me just say I was extremely disappointed! The food was not seasoned! The yams were not sweet and dry, the chicken was the color of the curry sauce but lack flavor. If you grew up on Caribbean food, this food is honestly a zero! I have it two stars because if you aren't use to island food than maybe it's good. I will never order from here again!

I've been here several times. Consistently the food has been appetizing, hot and delicious. The oxtails are toothsome, and falling off the bone. The rice and peas, yams are lipsmakingly good. I'll be back many times.

Ordered a bunch of different trays for a work party after the recommendation of a friend and they did not disappoint!! Every single thing we ordered was absolutely delicious and the portions were more than generous!! (the plantains were to die for!) Will definitely be ordering again for future events!

It was wonderful. Simple unassuming place with a few tables. I had the curry chicken and the portion was enough for lunch and dinner. On Broad Street Just north of where Old York Road branches off, I might have never found it without Yelp but I'm glad I did.
