Tbh, the amount of choices you'd have to make is a bit overwhelming. But prices are decent and portions are generous. I got a single scoop of Nutella and on receipt it's labeled "kid size", but it was a very generous scoop, which I thoroughly enjoyed. Location may be out of the way a bit, and the streets are not all lit at night, but it was worth the 15 min walk from where we were staying.

This is what water ice is all about! Super delicious. Great service as well. Highly recommend if you're in the area!

My running club does water ice Wednesday and this is our spot!! We came here last night and there was just a short line. This store is super popular so it is rare to come here without a line. After explaining what water ice and gelatis are to several new club runners from other countries (lol) I put in my order for a (new flavor) peach gelati. It was huge, delicious and $5. Everyone in our group left a satisfied customer. (note: I do not recommend running a mile home post gelati ice eating)

Middling to poor experience with Fairmount Flavors. Let's start with the positive - menu options are solid, lots of variety and uniqueness. The location is convenient. The server was nice, if a bit disinterested (she was wearing AirPods). The negatives -- 1) The prices are exorbitant. Two scoops goes for $6, and if you add a few standard toppings you're paying $10 or more. Wild stuff. 2) They did not clean the spoon prior to scooping my ice cream. Tons of orange looking ice cream / water ice mixed into my flavors. Really hated to see that.3) My ice cream had a bunch of ice chunks in it, and really everything was just generally kind of icy and not smooth or creamy like the best ice cream spots.Could have just been a bad day, and I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and come back again - will confirm one way or another. Really wanted to like it here but came away disappointed!

As the other Yelpers have mentioned, the sweets here are a bit of a splurge. But to me, they're worth it.Personally, I'm addicted to their slammers with lime Italian ice. I'm also a huge fan of their popular gelato custard with vanilla ice cream and mango Italian ice. On a hot day, there's nothing more satisfying than having a smooth, silky, and refreshing vanilla custard ice cream along with the sweet and tangy mango Italian ice. Service here is pretty quick. Even when there's a line, they don't take too long to serve each customer. And since it's a take-out only spot, don't expect to get a seat inside their shop since there isn't one. Fairmount is a beautiful neighborhood with lots of scenic areas to enjoy your icy treats though.

I'll be honest, the ice cream here is not great. It's icy, not very creamy, and isn't flavorful. It's homemade and yet tastes like the Turkey Hill you'd get at the grocery store. However, Fairmount isn't exactly teeming with ice cream places. If you want something in the neighborhood, this is really your only option for a proper store that's in Fairmount proper (not a truck). They do have plenty of flavors and different options (sundaes, milkshakes, water ice, etc.). But it's not cheap, it's not good, and there's always a long wait in the summer since there are no other options close by. Fine enough if you want to support a local spot without traveling to a different part of the city with better options, or are so hot that you need to cool down, but if you're looking for great ice cream, this isn't it.

This ice cream shop located across eastern state penitentiary usually has a line outside anytime apart from Winter. There's no seating, all to-go. The gelato (pictured left) is nice and refreshing - it's actually more like flavored ice with soft serve. That's a small! Recc to order the kids size!

Stopped in before a tour at Eastern State Penitentiary and it was the perfect thing to help me cool down. There was a line out on the sidewalk and people were called up to the window to order. This place has a huge menu with what seems like something for everyone. I got a small half mango/half watermelon Italian ice. The small size was $4 and was huge! Way more than I actually wanted but a good value. The favors didn't stand out. My husband tried the new Fairmont donuts with Nutella. They're basically zeppolis with Nutella on top. They were hot, fresh and delicious but also cost like $13 for a pretty small portion. Not sure I could recommend at that price but I suppose they're there if you're looking to try something different!

A general ice cream parlor. Service is bad, the flavors are basic and not great. I feel like the ice cream is just a generic off brand of turkey hill. If there were any other ice cream spots in Fairmount this would be out of business in a month.P.s. always check to see if your order is correct. It seems like purposely miss stuff.

Context: It's summer in Philly. Extremely hot outside lately. We just got done with a full week of daily mid 90s temperature. Last night (Friday), I walked here for ice cream. The woman at the window asked for my order, before placing it, I asked her clearly "do you all have rainbow sprinkles?" to which she assuringly replied "yes".(In the past I've ordered my ice cream with rainbow sprinkles only to arrive home and open up my ice cream drowning in chocolate sprinkles. And that sucks)I ordered a large choco-chip cookie dough with rainbow sprinkles to-go. They package it for you in a brown paper bag when it's a to-go order. When it was ready I took my brown paper bag and walked home. I wasn't going to open my ice cream until I got out of the sun; didn't want it to melt on me.I got home and I immediately opened my order. It already started melting. There were no sprinkles on it. Immediately, I called the ice cream shop and the same woman who I ordered my ice cream with answered. I gave her my order number and told her that my order had no sprinkles on it despite asking specifically for rainbow sprinkles and having it on my receipt. She asked me if I could come back immediately. I said no because it was a long walk there and back. She asked me to return the next day (Saturday). She also asked me to bring my receipt so that she could rectify the incorrect order and fix their mistake. I agreed to give them a chance to do the right thing.Today (Saturday) I walked back to the ice cream shop. It's still hot outside, mind you.A different person greeted me at the window. (She's very kind and she cares about customers.) I explained to her that I was told to come back today with my receipt because I was served an incorrect order yesterday. The person who dealt with my order yesterday was standing right behind her. Her coworker said "hey Rafa, do you know what this is about, your name is on the receipt so you should."Rafa approached the window and looked at the receipt and it seemed like she was embarrassed. It was like she didn't want her others to see that there was a mistake made and that she promised a customer that they could come in the next day and be taken care of. I was confused and I didn't see the big deal.Rafa asked me if I called yesterday. I said "yes, it was me that called and was told to come in with my receipt so that you could fix things with my incorrect order." She then asked what was wrong with the order. I explained myself yet again. She walked to the back of the shop. Then she returned with a cookie dough ice cream with rainbow sprinkles.I kindly reminded her that it was a to-go order, because she didn't pack it to-go this time. She rudely said "normally what is supposed to happen is you come back here and I just give you sprinkles." (That's stupid - why would someone ask me to walk and sweat to come and collect sprinkles after they are responsible for making the error?)I kindly asked her to clarify what her attitude was about. I reminded her (again) that I specifically asked for rainbow sprinkles yesterday and I walked all the way home and it wasn't until then that I opened up my order and saw that there were no sprinkles on it. I then kindly reminded her that I immediately called and reported the issue upon discovering it and it was her that asked me to come back so things could be rectified. She told me that she should just give me sprinkles as she accused me of eating the incorrect order from yesterday - a false accusation which I took offense to. That was extremely rude. And when I told her that she is incorrect in accusing me of eating an order that I didn't even order, she smirked at me so as to call me a liar. She went back to put the order in a paper bag and the other person who was kind was sent to speak with me outside. Before she got to speak, the Rafa woman came back with my ice cream in a bag and as she handed it to me said "there it is, you wanna open it and check it this time?" with a disgusting sassy attitude and she walked off. Very rude. Pitiful customer service. For crying out loud, they serve mid ice cream. Even if it was gourmet, no customer deserves to be treated with disrespect for the shop's errors. Rafa's attitude was gross, uncalled for, offensive, micro-aggressive, passive-aggressive, unkind, rude, all the things. The customer service has long been something I've been weary of from this establishment but it has simply reach a new all-time low. Absolutely pitiful.
