Stopped by here to get a quick meal because I love Greek food! We ordered at the counter and asked for it to go. We got one chicken gyro and their Greek Cuban sandwich. It took probably 30+ minutes for us to get our food despite people coming in after us getting their order before us. When we got home and ate the food it was quite good! Not the best ever, but I did like it and it was a good portion size. They also have a little market inside the restaurant with some Greek products that look really amazing. There's a good amount of street parking just in front, we tried to park in the back but couldn't find a spot/figure out if we were meant to park there.

My experiences with Elia Cafe have been for delivery orders only. I haven't visited the establishment in person yet. Food was fantastic and delish! You can tell it was prepared with pride and love. Everything was perfectly cooked and beautifully presented even though it was a takeout order. The homemade phyllo pies were delightful and one of my favorite items on the menu. They are about $6. All the flavors I tried have been tasty: beef, spinach and chicken pesto. The platters are great for when you are very hungry or want to share, especially the "feed me" platter. The meats are full of flavor and nicely cooked. Greek salad is fresh. The extensive selection of sauces and spreads are just terrific additions to the already tasty menu items. Everything I ordered so far has been delicious. The grubhub delivery experience was also good. The menu is clearly posted on the app and pictures are available for most of the items, so it is very easy to navigate and accurate. The only problem is that I want to order everything I see since it all looks great. Elia made sure to pack everything nicely for delivery and provided utensils.

Almost all the chicken was very burnt on one side. I love burnt food (lol) but this was a thick layer of burn that was bitter and not very chewy. Fries were lacking in seasoning as we got the seasoned fries. It was a very light dusting of cheese and other spices. I also got mild food poisoning after eating lunch here. Not directly saying it was this restaurant, but I hadn't had any other food since dinner the night before and no food after this meal.

Today, I ordered a variety of food to be shared at my office via Uber Eats! All I can say is WOW! They got it spot on, I ordered the Spinach Pie, Cheese Pie, Meat Pie & Chicken Pie, requested they be cut and half to share and my wish was their command! Asked if they could consolidate the containers and yet again my request was honored. Then ordered the specials BOGO on Uber Eats, Zucchini Fritters and Sausage and Peppers, one was even better than the next. Finally, the Spicy Feta Spread, just the right amount of spice and homemade!!! Came in less than an hour. What quality food, what attention to detail. I'll definitely be back to try the other menu items soon! So glad they're close enough for delivery to my office. Great Greek food!!!

I had been to the Peruvian restaurant that was housed in this location several times, and as Med food is one of my favorite cuisines, I was very interested in checking Elia out. Yesterday, I got my chance! The interior has been massively upgraded from the former tenant. It is clean and airy! They have a few tables and a counter where you can order. The counter has a small bakery case with tempting treats, and they also make smoothies there. We were greeted and chatted with the guy about his recommendations. We went with the lamb gyro (Larry) and the veggie wrap (moi). While waiting for the food, I checked out the assortment of products for sale. They have Greek coffees and teas, infused olive oils, floral waters and jams and jellies. Really interesting items; I had to look up "bergamot" on my phone (it's a type of orange - I love it when I learn something new!). The food was ready fairly quickly and we devoured it! I was especially impressed with my wrap. The wrap construction was absolutely perfect! Given that Pythagoras was both Greek and a contributor to geometry, the wrap superiority made me feel like I was eating authentically Greek! Seriously, the wrap stayed together until I had consumed it in its entirety. I can't stand it when the wrap falls apart and deposits its contents on my already stained and dirty clothing. As we were paying (two enormous sandwiches plus tax and tip = $23), we asked the guy behind the counter about the set up. When it was the Peruvian restaurant, there was a teeny kitchen and most of the space was set up for dining. Now, the kitchen takes up about 2/3 of the space. He mentioned that they did a brisk business in both catering and meal service. Good to know if you want a steady flow of healthful Greek meals delivered to your door!In addition to the small lot behind the restaurant, there is ample street parking for $3 / hour on 36th Street. In all, Elia ticked all of the boxes for me - a pleasant setting with great, reasonably priced food; fast, friendly service and available parking! A+

I had great expectations for my most recent visit, 05/08/21. So great that I didn't do the one thing one should ALWAYS do: CHECK THE ORDER! I'm a born-and-raised local and it pains me that standards have slipped so low, at so many venues. At Elia's, it was a case of a lack of active listening and, possibly, assumption.Cheese saganaki is just one of those dishes I wouldn't order for home or take out. I don't have a gas stove, nor a flame grill and the dish is too easily congealed by the time you get home. But CHEESE saganaki was what I received when I ordered SHRIMP saganaki (I'm pretty sure if the employee recalls our interaction, I didn't request cheese). With both items on the menu, I could expect my selection to be confirmed by the person taking my order just as much as the person taking my order "expected" me to check the order and receipt. Most upsetting is I was really looking forward to this dish, as SHRIMP saganaki one of the few Greek/Mediterranean dishes I haven't tried (and I already have a favorite Cheese Saganaki dish at Meraki). So, there I was, returned from errands that took me to SoBe, Downtown and Morningside before I checked my purchases and saw the inevitable error. Inevitable, it seems lately, because errors with client orders happen far more frequently than many local restaurants/cafes like to admit. Even more disappointing: I was the only customer for the entire time I was inside this cafe and it was quiet with no (I thought) distractions. And, of course, to compound the situation, Elia's is closed on Sunday. So here I am with a potentially wasted slab of cheese, wondering, "How am I going to reheat this?"

After dropping a girlfriend off at the airport, I was looking around to have some healthy food before hitting up the spa. I have tried the places a cross the street but never noticed Elia. I parked in the street, plenty of (you supposed to - paying) spots. I walked in and was welcomed. I looked around at what they offered and only noticed the menu on a printed paper at the counter. There is no display of their food menu. In crayon there is a beverage menu but I had to assume it is for their smoothies by the names, no details given anywhere on what is exactly in the smoothies.I ordered the Elia signature wrap with grilled chicken, arugula, tomatoes and their signature feta spread. It looked beautiful in the tomato wrap. Super healthy! And a large amount of chicken in it that is perfectly seasoned. On the side there was also a delicious citrus light dressing that matched perfectly with the wrap. The only thing I missed was a water station. There was none and as soon as I had my food everyone disappeared in the kitchen. I assume they don't offer water so you would buy one of the waters, teas or sodas?....There is one table of four and then also two high top tables that provide condiments and napkins. The food was ready fast and delicious. A Greek radio station was playing American eighties hits while I was devouring my wrap.

Yikes, the food here is really bad. We grabbed lunch here thinking it'd be decent.First, the yuca fries are soft and not crispy at all. Plus, they have no salt. The cilantro sauce that comes with it is flavorless. Not to mention that one order comes with about 7 small pieces, it is not worth it at all.The chicken souvlaki gyro is one of the worst things I've eaten before. Absolutely no flavor at all, the chicken is hard and super dry, and the yogurt sauce on it is tasteless. Really terrible gyro. Don't come here if you want food with flavor.
