Very good Mexican cuisine. I enjoy the tostada de ceviche and the tamales..... with a she of tequila! Always friendly staff, clean and cozy.

I agree with the reviewer from 9/24/2024. The new concept/owner/menu/whatever is not an upgrade. Old faves are not on the menu; all prices have gone way up; the food was just okay. I'm glad at least some of the wait staff remains.

Staff is friendly, service is fine, but the food not so much. We recently moved here from AZ, so could be a regional thing, but what we got was not a chili relleno. It was just some hamburger plopped on a spread out bland chili. Our beef burrito was pretty much dry, crumbled hamburger in a tortilla. My mojito was quite good, but my wife not impressed with her margarita. Ask for their hotter salsa, it was quite good.

The food was not only fast but good quality food. We had a celebration and it didn't disappoint us. We had a few people who don't normally eat Mexican and they adjusted the order.

This place has the best Mexican food in durham and this location is better than any of their other locations. Their salsa isn't puréed but isn't super chunky and it has cilantro thank God! Good is always hot and fresh and the service is excellent! I highly recommend this dish you'll likely overlook on the menu Pollo Selinoa or something like that I'll post a pic! The place is always super clean too!

The serving sizes were excellent, the food was hot, everything was really good... I am a business man constantly on the road, and it's not every night you get a good meal... A lot of times it's actually like a potluck. I highly recommend, it was a great meal, you get a lot for your money.

I've eaten here a handful of times and am always pleasantly pleased when I get the total at how affordable it is. My favorite dish is the veggie sinchronizada which really just seems like a quesadilla to me but it's so delicious. Their queso is delicious and I love hedonistically pouring it over my dish. It comes with a separate dish of rice, lettuce, tomatoes, jalapeños, avocado and sour cream on the side for toppings. All this for $10 (queso is extra). I've tried the veggie burrito and it was fine but I would have preferred a regular tortilla instead of wheat. Just because I prefer to eat primarily plant based doesn't mean I want a "healthier" version and wheat tortillas are always so tough. I'd get my again if I could switch the tortilla out next time. I would also love some vegetarian enchiladas on the menu too. The chips and salsa are perfectly respectable as well. Would recommend for sure.

So just to let people know this is a review of the new company that has taken over El Rodeo aka Mi Cancun. We absolutely loved El Rodeos original menu as it was vibrant and traditional whereas this menu is not. Here is a list of things that we saw that utterly pissed is off while we were there.1. Horrible/loud music: please turn it down. It sounded more like a rave than a restaurant.2. Waiter was too persistent: I am not talking about our first waitress as she did the best she could and was extremely patient with us. The one that was borderline rude asked us what drinks we ordered despite us already ordering our drinks from the prior waitress. Even after we explained that fact to him he still demanded to know what drinks we ordered. I nearly lost my temper with him but remained cool and told him what we ordered. Despite doing this he never brought us our drinks.3. Terrible food: the old menu was not perfect but it had a traditional flavor that complimented it very well. I especially loved both the burritos Diabla and the Mocajete. With new menu we didn't have the burritos but we did have a diabla sauce for shrimp as well as the mocajete. First major turn off was the diabla sauce is SWEET like candy which is disgusting as diabla sauce should be spicy with little to no hint of sweetness. Second the mocajete was served with no flavor added to the meat so it all tasted like it was boiled in a pot of hot water with no added spice. In addition the sides (rice and beans) tasted like they were already spoiled. 4. Lack of focus on food but on drinks: as this sentence states I feel like this restraint cares more about the amount of alcohol they can sell than the quality of their food. Open coming into the restaurant we noticed an entire table filled with multiple different drink cocktails that looked more like something you would see at a tacky tropical restaurant than a Mexican one. When we actually got the main food menu I did a quick comparison between the main menu and the drink one and the drink menu contained almost half of the amount of selections that the regular menu had. On top of that the drinks did look particularly well put together but had little to no actual alcohol added to them but are priced in the 17-25 dollar ranges. When I can get a better put together drink from top golf for cheaper than this place that should tell you something. I do believe that this restaurant does want you to buy there drinks first before getting any food so you can try to get drunk and not truly taste the food when you get it.Needless to say we did not finish nor take leftovers home with us. We felt like this rebranding was a major flop in terms of quality. As of this point unless Mi Cancun leaves and El Rodeo comes back we will not be back ever.
