El Regio Mexican Bar & Grill

Sometimes you stumble upon gems. El Regio Mexican Bar & Grill is just that. After grabbing dinner close by, we were looking for a spot to grab a drink. El Regio came up on Yelp, had good reviews, and was open so we made our way. Despite it being a Sunday evening, the restaurant was almost fun. We sat at the bar in the corner of the restaurant. I'm always a fan of Mexican spots that offer jumbo margaritas in several flavors at affordable prices. El Regio has just that. And when you have a jumbo margarita with your choice of beer added to the top to make a Coronita, that's really all I need. El Regio is a casual spot but exactly the type of place I'd be stopping by regularly if I lived in the area. While we didn't try the food, a couple next to us went with a mixed paradilla with a bunch of different meats on a sizzling platter. It looked and smelled delicious. And it's exactly what I'll try the next time I'm in Sugar Land.

I don't have any right to call this authentic, but if I had to take a guess, I'd say this comes pretty darn close. From the moment you walk in, you're greeted with warm and friendly service, and they waste no time in getting you seated. While you contemplate over the menu, you're served fresh and crispy tortilla chips alongside two salsas bursting with flavor. My personal favorite is the creamy verde (green) salsa with it's true spicy kick, but the red one is just as delicious.My usual order revolves around the street tacos, which consistently deliver on ample portions of protein, and come in a numerous varieties from lengua (tongue), barbacoa, carnitas, seafood, etc. The beef fajitas, sizzling hot off the grill, are always a tasty choice. Their quesadillas are generously stuffed with cheese and protein, with a satisfying crisp. And when it comes to the soups like menudo and pozole, they're all hearty and delicious.As for beverages, I'm a proponent of their agua frescas tamarind. If you want something warming with spicy yet still refreshingly cool, get the horchata.

this is an AMAZING authentic and EXCELLENT Mexican Restaurant! It is a gem and you need to go there and order a special side dish that is not on the menu. Nagoles de la Mexicana. I may have not written that perfectly but it is cactus cooked with a bit of jalepenos and onions. You might want to order a side of fabulously home made corn tortillas to go with it. We also ordered from their luncheon menu Fajitas which were deliciously made!I forgot to take a photo of the Cactus dish.

Great local Mexican spot with fast, friendly service and delicious food. This is a no-frills establishment, so you know they are serious about their food. There was a good sized crowd here late on the Friday night when we came, so those that know, know. I got their beef fajita quesadilla (basic and boring, I know) and it was delicious. Others at the table had a variety of their tacos and I had food FOMO - they looked great.

This place is the best for Mexican food!!!I give them a 5 star rating not just for their food but for their hospitality in greeting customers and treating people equally.We love eating here. Sometimes we dine in and sometimes we get it to go thru their drive thru.

Been here twice. Service is ok. The restaurant gets busy on a Sunday afternoon. It's not that spacious and the seating arrangement will have you sitting quite close to other groups.FOOD AND DRINK:Limonada (5/5) - Best to order without ice. It's not super sweet. Perfect sugar level for me.Chile con Queso (3/5) - The meat appears to not be ground beef. The white cheese is nice. Needs more flavor overall.Chicken Flautas (1/5) - The flautas needed more flavor. The 'guacamole' was just smashed avocados. The rice and beans was meh. I've had better. Don't recommend.Parillada Combo (3/5) - Ordered beef, chicken, and shrimp. Comes with a side of charro beans, pico de gallo, salad, and tortillas. We got a mix of flour and corn tortillas. The corn tortillas were handmade. The shrimp was butterflied and overcooked. The beef and chicken was ok. Could use more flavor/seasoning. The rice was fluffy and flavorful. The charro beans had great flavor. Enjoyed the rice and beans the most.Had a side of beef short ribs (can't recall the name in Spanish) and that was also a favorite for me. 5/5. Well seasoned and lots of flavor!! Highly recommend. Better flavor than the beef fajitas.If I return again, I would like to try their desserts and tostados.

I hate to say this but this restaurant needs a evening chef that cares about the quality of the food they prepare. A 15.99 shrimp dish with un veined over cooked tough shrimp very un flavourful. The Chipotle sauce wasn't glazed onto the shrimp like it should have been on fresh cooked Camarones a la Diabla just spooned over. Served with ffries mexican restaurants shouldn't do that. The Fajitas meat was tough and over cooked. Service was ok and the ambience standared. The Cadillac Margarita was very small size weak and lacked flavor of a good Margarita for $16. With Mexican restaurants a dime-a-dozen here in Texas By anyone's standards this restaurant is subpar.

The food is okay not really good nor bad it's just okay, for the food to be okay I feel like the prices are way to expensive

So good and not greasy at all. Tortillas de harina taste homemade and were really good. Salsas were a nice touch and not too spicy. My husband tried the menudo and he enjoyed it as well. We ordered and picked up through the drive though super quick. Will definitely be back!
