We pass by El Ranchero all the time and finally got a chance to try it out. The inside was surprisingly nice with cow-hide sofas, large booths, and nice lighting. They have an extensive menu with anything tex-mex you could want. I love that their chips are thicker than most places and their salsa is one hot bowl of goodness (although spicy). My husband and I shared the mixed fajitas on a sizzling platter for one, which was enough for both of us. The beef was tender but the chicken was slightly dry. Their corn tortillas weren't as good as Teotechiuan, but everything was still delicious. You get rice, charo beans (we asked for refried), pico de Gallo, and guacamole, but no sour cream. My kids enjoyed their enchilada and quesadilla meals. Generous portions for a kids meal. It was all very affordable and service was prompt and polite. Would go again in a heartbeat!

In an unexpected Meyerland location you will find this nice family-oriented traditional TexMex restaurant. We went on a Friday night, and it was pleasantly lively with many happy children as well as adults. We sat in a booth and noted there is a small bar in another room. My carne asada was accompanied by lots of peppers and onions plus rice, beans, and guacamole on the side; the steak was very tasty, and a large portion so I brought half of it home for lunch. J had a combination plate with a taco, a cheese enchilada, and one of those "puffy queso" things - she ate everything on her plate.The menu is very large, multiple pages, many choices. Unlike so many other places , they were definitely well-staffed! We will be back when we are in the neighborhood.

The food was really good. They have done a lot to make this little neighborhood restaurant into a great place to go! The fajitas were on point and the portions were really good. I was also really impressed with the chips and queso. Don't forget to get a margarita- they normally are on special and they are really good. Definitely will be back!

Came here with co workers during work. Food is typical for a Mexican restaurant. I Ordered food and placed my credit card in the card holder sleeve to close out the order after eating . Waitress picked Up the card holder and receipt and came back 6-7 minutes later saying I didn't have my card in the sleeve. Spent the next 15 minutes looking around for my lost credit card in the store front. Asked them to look at their cameras and to let me see too, they didn't bother. I ended up calling my bank and locking my card. I still closed my tab out with a secondary card, even though they lost my card and didn't offer any service for what was their fault. Rather odd that with hardly anyone else there at the restaurant at that late hour, my card just vanished within minutes of it being put out to charge. Take it as you read it, odd staff really.

I don't know why I didn't try this place sooner. After many years of driving by this restaurant, we finally tried it two months ago. We go once or twice a week now. The staff is amazing... always so friendly and remember you. They have great food that comes out super fast... like SUPER fast! I have tried several dishes, but I usually get one of their combo dinners so I get a little bit of everything. Their warm salsa is probably my favorite thing about this place. They also have a large bar, plenty of seating, and TVs. If you are looking for a great neighborhood spot to grab a quick meal there or to go, definitely check it out.
