Supporting another local business in this Pandemic ride out. For $38 we ordered the mixed three person fajita, with grilled onions and peppers, a container, large, of rice and another with beans, homemade flour tortillas, a box of pico and guacamole. Plus 2 drink cup sizes of salsa and queso. Plus, a bag of fresh hot chips. Food is always good at El Jimedor. We had enough for two days. Definitely worth it..

If you follow my reviews, you know I'm not big on Tex Mex. We however eat a lot of Tex Mex, especially when we visit Texas. I know the difference between good Tex Mex and crap. This place has good food. The service is very quick and friendly. Drinks are reasonable.

I love El Jimador, BUT they started charging for green salsa. $2.95 for a small cup. I've never paid extra Inside or take home, and I order take home a lot, I asked what's the extra charge for? Oh salsa! Then I get home and I have no green salsa. They'll be making good on that. Be careful! charging for salsa........there are MANY good Tex Mex places to choose from that don't charge extra, just a slight different route home for me!

Delicious watermelon drink! I ordered mine with Vodka bc I'm not a tequila fan and it was yummy! Very accommodating staff - I wanted a special variety of enchiladas and they offered it up with no issues. Meal was great - especially the spinach enchilada.

I have read the negative reviews and as a pub owner with years of experience in the food industry I can tell you they flat wrong. I have eaten there several times and have always found the portions to be generous, the salsa to be wonderful, and the service is almost too attentive. I question whether they are involved with a competing restaurant that may lose money with another successful one. You don't go here and compare them to Pappasito's. They appear to be a family run business. You're going to knock them for a parking lot they didn't design? You know when you start reading a negative review and there has to be more to it than what they're writing.I did order the beef fajitas once and shared them with my wife. There was no shortage of onions and I have not seen ANY mexican restaurant be liberal with bell peppers in years. The beef fajitas were good, but a friend ordered the pork fajitas and they were fabulous! Most restaurants these days have cut way back on the portion of beef due to skyrocketing cost. They trim so small that by the time you cook on the grill and then bring out on the hot plate, the beef is getting overdone. If you order their Matamoros dinner, you get a beef fajita enchilada and you get the flavors, tenderness and can taste the good beef. They do need to work on their chicken. Sometimes, very moist, sometimes dry. My guess is they are boiling then grilling, or simply overcooking. When I have ordered their combination type dinners, I have been pleased overall. I don't eat at places I don't think are clean and I sure don't go back for bad food. I will give a place a second chance if I think they are having an off day. When you read other folks reviews, go look at their profile. See if they really had a bad meal or just enjoy writing bad reviews. I have no affiliation with this restaurant but we also don't have many choices in Hockley. That's not going to make me give one a free pass, but I think Mr. first to review is not happy about a lot of things in life, much less where he eats.Give this place a try, don't expect Pappasito's, you sure aren't paying that price. I love the fact they give you queso and pickled veggies like they do chips and salsa. You may have to try different things on the menu to find what you like, but when you do, you will really like it. By the way, I'll bet you a lot of money, most restaurants are using canned refried beans... lol Shocker. By the way, awful does not have an e.

Our local greasy spoon. Not sure how this place continues to do business. The beans taste like the rice, and the rice tastes like the corn chips, and the corn chips taste like the queso. Oh and the quail tastes like crap. Everything fried in the same grease. There is a great opportunity to run a quality restaurant but these guys just can't get it right.

I stopped in for an early dinner and chose special dinner #18. Two beef tacos, queso and a creamy chicken enchilada. The meal started off wIth lots of chips and salsa. Salsa was served warm and slightly chunky. Tacos were basic, ground meat, cheese, lettuce and tomato. and a queso puffed tortilla The chicken enchilada was very tasty. No rice or beans came with the meal. Not special, but good homestyle tex-mex food.
