El Jalapeno Mexican Cafe

I had the flank steak with the cheese enchilada and both are good. Rice and beans were kind of seem like they came out of a pack, but the Staples well marinated the cheese is melted and it tasted like your garden-variety Tex mex place. Again I give it 2 1/2 stars not because it's bad but because it's average if you like Tex-Mex and you just want a normal menu or something that's not gonna go to super creative we're not gonna recognize the dishes this place is for you. The food comes out with great portion size decent prices however, you're not gonna find some of the authentic stuff that you may be craving because you live here in Texas but if you're looking for a solid meal at a decent price this is not a bad pic. Don't let the two start for you. It's just because it's ordinary and a lot like other chain offerings that I don't rate it higher !

Went to meet my sister and aunt for lunch. I haven't been there since I was a teen. My sister and Aunt both had menudo and I had beef enchiladas. I made the wrong choice! I got some menudo from my sister and honestly, that's the best menudo I've ever had! You can drink the broth alone because it has a delicious flavor. The tripe was very moist and not rubbery like other places as well. That's all I'll be ordering from here on out. Very legit spot.

So dinner started off ok. My partner and I got to the restaurant before the other couple we were meeting. We were sat pretty quickly and someone came by to ask for our drinks. We opted to wait for the others since they'd be there in a few minutes. Once they arrived, they came back to get our drink orders in decent time and and with the food order after that. But that's pretty much where the service ended. Refills pretty much didn't happen. We had to get someone's attention every time. My partner spent most of the meal with an empty glass. There were times even if we tried to say "excuse me" and get someone's attention, we were ignored. It really wasn't that busy either. There were like three other tables. My food was good; portions were decent. I had the mole enchiladas. The sauce was had just enough spice and a good flavor. I was happy to be offered queso fresco as an option when I ordered instead of the regular shredded cheese. I didn't see the bill so I don't know if it was an up charge or not. My partner wasn't very thrilled with his torta; I didn't try it so I can't comment. It was huge, though. The michelada was on point.Someone came by and started taking plates without asking if we were done. We were, but my friends weren't. Even took the chips and salsa. We definitely felt like we were being rushed out, but had to ask for the check three times and wait long periods in between before they finally brought the bills. It was four of us eating, two couples. It's not like it was hard to divide up. The art on the walls was really cool. I'll give them that. Honestly probably won't be back. The food was ok, not worth the drive and the wait.

Stopped by for lunch. Ordered the mIxed fajitas. It was delicious. I asked for blackened veggies with it and they weren't to my liking . But the place is good and definitely come back and try again.

Food tasted old didn't even eat much and still had diarrhea plus the two other people I had with me.

We have been trying out all of the local Mexican restaurants in our area, and this is by far the best we have found. We have been ranking them on individual items starting with the margarita (good standard traditional margarita, but you can jazz it up with a extra tequila shot of gold), the queso is good homemade cheese sauce with added peppers and onion (not out of a can). The rice and refined beans and Borracho beans are nice, note to the good stuff...try the ribeye tacos! Excellent! The cheese enchiladas are really good (I suggest adding onions to them) and the traditional beef tacos are the best in the area, really good flavor (not overly seasoned or salty like other places we've been). The portion sizes are large, so you get more than enough for for the price you pay. Over all, we will be back to try some of the other daily specials.

I went to have breakfast here today . I ordered the posole . This bowl hardly had any pork only a few pieces it was all hominy. For $14.50 I would expect more . It didn't have much flavor either . I was really disappointed n felt ripped off . I didn't get my moneys worth . My husband had the barbacoa n it was really greasy n didn't taste like barbacoa. The salsa ( that's what they call it ) is a watered down mess . They had the music speaker right next to us so loud we couldn't even converse with blaring music . The can soda $2.95 ! I'll just go to Alamo Tamale when I want some good barbacoa .

SO so so good! Very cute and welcoming on the inside. They have it very well decorated and nice music playing. You cannot beat their prices!!! Everyone was so friendly. We went back two days in a row here. It's just right down the road in a great location!! The food was very yummy.

No offense to anybody but because I didn't speak Spanish I was treated incorrectly by one of the waitresses who attended me for a to go order, around 5:30 pm today, the reason why I didn't speak Spanish was because I had my lady on the phone, and my lady's original language is not Spanish, her language original language is English.Thank you.
