El Charro Mexican Restaurants

Not serving the same amount of food. The last I went there was to pickup a fajita order for 2 and with nothing else and it over $ 50.00 This restaurant went under new owner/ management couple of years ago and it's not really not the same anymore.

HORRENDOUS! From start to finish! Saturday, 10/15/22. My mother and I stopped at this location since it was the original and we LOVE the OTHER location so much. We NEVER should have came here. At 11:03 we proceeded to open the door twice, and it was locked. A man came to unlock to door, but not open it. Being a former MGR for Pappas I'm HUGE on hospitality. The fact that he couldn't simply open the door to make sure we knew he had unlocked it was strange. When my mother walked in, her being extremely classy and polite said, "sorry we are the first ones here" Why did my mother feel the need to apologize to your staff to do their JOB. After we walk in it smelled like someone had left a dirty diaper in the trash can all night or they need the best plumber in town. We sit down, I order 2 SMALL Frozen Margs with sugar.The margarita machine wasn't prepared, so we had to wait a additional 30 minutes for our drinks.When we get the drinks he brings it out in the GRANDE size when inSPECIFICALLY asked for the small. I thought he was going to upgrade us for free since all the mishaps happened. When he took our order, my mom and I split the queso flameado. I asked for flour tortillas. Most restaurants give you the option for corn or flour.My mom had actually asked him if those were the large margaritas and he said, Yes, we have NO small glasses for small margaritas." He said it jokingly. Mind you yet, I'm LOOKING At the smaller glasses for margs hanging at the bar. I didn't say anything until I got the check. I got the check and he had charged us for 2 JUMBO Margs, and a side order of flour tortillas.I went to the 15.5 year old you have working the register, and she is despicable. I explained to her what happened and her response was, "ma'am, we are going to lose money if we do this" In the most crude and disrespectful tone then raising her voice with me while saying this is my fault. I asked where the MANAGER was, and she said YALL DONT HAVE ONE. Let me make ONE recommendation. I HIGHLY suggest you, whoever YOU are, decide to HIRE someone to MANAGE that place, or, get new staff. The male server came over and he said what's the problem? I said, you took my order and brought me out whatever you wanted, you didn't write, repeat, or review my order so you charged me for flour tortillas that literally COME WITH THE MEAL. I said bc your child wants to dehumanize me, I shouldn't have to pay for my margarita, or the EXTRA GREASY queso flameado. In order to make sure he got paid, he changed the receipt to 2 smalls margs (what I had ASKED FOR IN THE FIRST PLACE) and also took off the tortillas he tried charging me for when it COMES with the meal. I don't know if he was acting that way because we are two White Women and maybe he thinks we aren't going to say anything, but I guarantee you he will NEVER try that with white women again.

This review us for the Huffmeister location. The restaurant is just below average. Nothing to write home about. Food is ok. Service is ok. If you're looking for great Mexican food and strong margaritas, this is NOT the place.

Service is horrible!!! Salsa taste like sugar! Rita's we're so nasty we sent back! Takes 20 min to get more salsa... still waiting...! Ask for no refried beans anywhere... chimichanga came piled with it! No respect, food was nasty my 6 year old only ate French fries! Sorry but can't come back! No Thanks

First impression as you walk in to a self serve soft ice cream machine with an "out of order" sign on it, you are quickly greeted by a very friendly hostess. We went on a Wednesday at lunch time 1 pm and the place was empty, maybe had 2 tables when we walked in so we were sat immediately. We didn't wait long at all for our waiter to take our drink order. The restaurant is pretty big with traditional Mexican decor but no anything tacky. Looks family owned and it seems that they care about cleanliness which is nice.We ordered 2 sangria margaritas for Happy hour $8 each. It was just a regular frozen Margarita with a shot of melon liquor pored into it that we stirred vigorously to mix, not exactly sure where the "sangria" part fits in as there was no wine, brandy, sherry or fruit present but maybe it was not made correctly or possibly it's just a fancy name for a melon flavored margarita? Initial taste was not good but only because it was a gulp of melon liquor, but after mixing it well, you could enjoy the slushy-like frozen melon margarita at its best. I will note that it did not have the artificial lime flavor that you would expect from the popular margarita machine mixes, but instead had a very fresh homemade ingredient type of taste, like fresh lime (rare now in days so this was pleasant). I will also note that they had a full bar with a long list of beers, flavored margaritas and other well known "cantina" specialties. The green enchiladas came with 2 enchiladas stuffed with seasoned chicken and smothered in what seemed to be a tomatillo and sour cream mix sauce with melted cheese on top, served with traditional Spanish rice and refried beans. The beans were good, the rice was ok but could use a bit of improvement, nothing special. My enchiladas were also decent. I did get a small bone and a whole bay leaf in the same enchilada but honestly, no big deal, I just moved it to the side and slowed down a bit Incase another bone came up. The filling was seasoned correctly and this does come with cooking chicken on bone and adding fresh herbs such as bay leaves while it simmers so seriously no big deal for me. The Sour cream enchiladas seemed to be the exact same thing but without the tomatillo sauce, just sour cream and white melted cheese sauce (still good flavor) The bill came and the enchiladas verdes were charged as a dinner plate but when brought to the attention of the waiter he quickly apologized and fixed it with no problem. All in all the service was great, the food was decent and I would return. A quick suggestion, maybe have a happy hour list with prices so people can have an idea. No prices are listed on anything alcoholic and when asked the waiter didn't know the difference in pricing if regular vs happy hour (again, not a big deal to us but others might want to see the actual differences)

They have a very welcoming hostess that is always greeting us as we walk into the door. Unfortunately, their ice cream machine is out of order and that was one of the best perks my children looked forward to after eating their meal. We like going to this place either for a date night or a family dinner. Friday evenings are usually one of their busiest days of the week so be prepared to wait a bit longer if not come back another day during the week. Despite post-COVID they still have the same employees working here. That is what you call a family restaurant! As we tend to be escorted to our seating location the servers recognize us and greet us with waves and "hellos". They are fast in bringing chips and their warm red salsa is very tasteful to the table. If you like the green salsa, they do have it you just need to ask for it.They are a family-owned business and they have a Mexican traditional décor display around the location. They are aware of their plumbing issues due to at times the smell can escape from their restrooms. But other than that, it is well kept up and clean. I really enjoy their Margaritas and they are not shy about spiking it up. Love that it is also affordable and with one margarita you will sure have a good old time. They do have flavors available if you would like to add it to your drink. They also have a HAPPY HOUR if you want to start early!I tend to order the fajita enchiladas with charro beans. Their charro beans do not taste store-bought! They are homemade which gives them a home flavor. At times I do tend to other their stuff avocado and their portions are big that I struggle to finish my plate. One of my kiddos order the chicken fingers and they love their big fries. At times my other kid orders their kid hamburgers and when I asked if his burger was good his reply is "It was SCRUMPTIOUS!" My husband at times orders their shrimp cocktail and he likes it. If we are on our date night, we always get the Mexican parillada for one person due to the amount of beef and chicken it can feed BOTH OF US! The flavor of the green bell peppers and the bacon is a great combination. At times we even struggle to finish this meal between both of us (we are not skinny people either) that is how much meat that one plate has.We have also introduced this place to family members, and they do enjoy eating here. They all mentioned how great their margaritas are at this restaurant. Let me not forget to mention if one has a birthday bring them here to EL CHARRO, they sing their own version of "Happy birthday" with a complementary sopapilla dessert.When you are done dining in as you walk out, they are saying their "byes" and "hope to see you next time." You are greeted walking in and out!

This food was AMAZING!! Everything we got was great. I don't see how there is so many bad reviews. If you want some great Mexican food in the area go to El Charro!!

They have really gone up their prices and cut back on their servings. I have been going there for over 30 years and I have to say enough is enough. I recently went inside the restaurant on a Friday night night and there was no customers. It's not the same place anymore. Doubt if I ever return.

The food and service was fabulous as always! I don't know why they are not packed all the time. Prices are really reasonable too.
