El Catrin Mexican Grill

Walking in from the outside made it a surprise when I got inside and saw the murals, nice tables, and how well the location was put together. The prices were reasonable and when I found out I could order breakfast I was happy and satisfied because even though it was lunchtime I wanted breakfast. The waiter was very helpful and attentive. He made sure my water was always topped off and my food was correct. I'll be back when I'm on this side of town next week.

Food is cold, burrito was loosely made, it fell apart after a few bites. Staff is just as cold.

Love their shrimp ceviche. Service was quick and pleasant. Beautiful decorations too.

I've been there twice. Service has been great on both occasions. The food comes out at a reasonable time. It isn't ready to go. Nor is it a long time. Guacamole - It was freshly made, zingy, a bit spicy. French Fries - They came with the Shrimp brochette. I finished every single fry. They were crispy outside and tender inside. They taste either double or triple cooked. Ropa Vieja - Very well prepared and generous meal. I like mine more tomato forward. Plantains were a bit sweet for me. That being said, this is preference and not quality. Shrimp Brochette - generous portion and fresh. Rice was outstanding. The Shrimp, bacon, Jalapeno combo were very tasty and a bit spicy for me. I like the place. It's good fresh food with good service.

The food, service, and ambience was great. Very friendly staff, and great prices. The owner is a local to the island of Galveston and it's always good to promote our local businesses. Will return again and again.

Horrible service, since my friend and I didn't order big plates we were dismissed as paying clients. We order from the sampler menu since my friend is a gastric bypass surgery.The other server was nice enough to bring paper napkins and refill our beverages.Food was tasty and the ambiance was really nice, you can have a conversation without everyone else knowing your business.
