Major points for having the best local ice cream, la michoacana. The tinga burrito is also solid, and fries are a refreshingly casual side. Not the best burrito around, but a worthy place to stop and eat something cold or hot.Update - upped from 4 to 5 stars because honestly, they make you feel at home. Tough to do. Great service.

If you're in Phoenixville looking for a fast, cheap, hole in the wall Mexican place, this your spot. They were very helpful and friendly. The service was very fast. You get complementary chips and salsa. My husband and I split a chorizo burrito and a steak torta. The torta was huge! I liked the burrito more, but they were both good. I tried a bite of the steak burrito and thought the chorizo was much better. It's cash only. The check was also hard to read and figure out the way it was written out. We were trying to split between multiple people and it was hard to tell how much each item cost. I'd come back again when in the area.

In a word: Meh. So look, the chips, salsa, and guac are great. Really no complaints there. As far as the other food goes... Meh. The tacos were okay, though dry. They need the chipotle mayo that comes with it, they don't really stand on their own. The gordita is just a pita pocket with Mexican ingredients crammed inside, which was disappointing. I've had authentic Mexican tacos and they are exactly as they describe their gordita, so I was very disappointed when I saw the final product. The burrito wasn't anything special and also had slices of tomato and avocado hidden in it (not listed on the menu). The tomato slices are just weird, and I'm sure some people would like the avocado, but I'm not one of them, so I wasn't happy to see that in there. No idea why they don't mention it on the menu. Also ordered a sope, but it was just soggy and pretty unappetizing. It was also a fairly lazy attempt at making one. It was takeout, to be fair, but I've had take out sopes elsewhere and they still arrived crispy and delicious. And actually a sope, not just a standard tortilla. Didn't get a photo because I just tossed it out. There are far better options in this area, so don't even bother. Unless you're drunk, you are going to notice the lack of quality and wish you ordered something else. I'm sure this place does good business when the bars let out, but if you're just looking for dinner (or aren't wasted), don't waste your money.

Awesome! Authentic! Best fajitas since I lived in Texas. Perfect!!! The chips are delicious and my husbands enchilada verde was also wonderful. Just a funky little place with a couple of tables and some pheonixville charm. We will Definitely go back and be sure to grab takeout whenever we can.

Overpriced and underwhelming. Very disappointing meal. More than $11 for a chicken burrito and sweet potato fries. Why fries, you ask? Because that's what comes with a burrito -- not chips. Really. Burrito was bland. Missing any flavor. Chicken had NO spices. Beans? Nope. Dry? You bet! Fries? Limp and undercooked. Size? Less than 1/2 what others offer. Had better at national chains -- and that is NOT good. Never again.

I have tried El Burrito a few times and most times I end up frustrated with some part of the experience whether it be the food, prices or the service. The food is generally bland. I find the chicken to be tasteless particularly. Carnitas was a bit better, but still lacking in flavor. When checking out, the person generally asks if you want red or green sauce. The first time, I assumed this was complimentary but then saw it was a hefty charge for a tiny cup of sauce. I feel like this is pretty shady behavior because they don't mention the cost at all. I can't recall exact cost, but it was somewhere between $1.50 and $3 for the red or green sauce. The portions are also fairly small compared to the prices. With all the other Mexican options around and El Limon coming soon, I don't think I will waste my effort or money with El Burrito anymore.

I need to start off by saying Mexican food is a hard thing to review. Unlike almost any other food It has a wide range from traditional-Texmex. Everyone has the style they seem to like. This was in fact a five star experience. Though it wasn't a perfect meal the good drastically outweighed the bad. We started off our meal with the usual salsa and chips that our waitress brought out to us. We ordered an appetizer of guacamole. We made her aware of my girlfriend's nut allergy, which is almost never much of a problem in Mexican food but we always make staff aware. She said the kitchen didn't have any that she was aware of she would make them aware. She was very kind and checked on this for us multiple times. Something we both don't take for granted. The salsa was outstanding. It was a verde cream salsa with avocado. It complimented my entire meal. I added some to my shrimp tacos to take them up a notch. The guacamole was super refreshing with a wonderful lingering taste of fresh lime. The way I like my guacamole. Couple minor issues. The size was easily that of a 4 maybe 5 dollar bowl of guacamole. Usually there would be an option in sizes but there was only a 7 dollar bowl. Which I assumed would at least be a medium sized bowl of guacamole. It was not. It was small and had wayyyy too many tomatoes. Still, the favor was phenomenal just felt underwhelmed by the size and excessive use of tomatoes. I ordered shrimp tacos with onion and cilantro rather than chipotle mayo. I wish they would have fried up the shrimp with a little more seasoning but when I added the salsa and some of my tomato guacamole they were bangin! Super fresh and the shrimp had a great texture. The shrimp tostada I ordered needed absolutely nothing. It was phenomenal straight from the kitchen. The little lingering after thought of lime on the end of this (just like the guac) was wonderful. It must of been in the mayo. The avocado on top with onion and tomato complimented the shrimp and crunchy corn tortilla very well. Now onto the veggie quesadilla with a side of rice and beans. Honestly one of the best I have ever had. All the vegetables were cooked correctly, not just thrown into a flower tortilla with cheese and served as a soggy half cooked mess which if you have ever eaten them consistently you know is a VERY possible outcome. They obviously took the time to let the vegetables sweat. The mushrooms in it were the star and brought that quesadilla to top level for me. I would eat it every day if I could. Finally we ended with churros which were warm, sugary and served with chocolate sauce. Not much to say here. Warm crunchy churros aren't something that should be screwed up and they did it right. Overall the meal was not perfect but their willingness to work with us, cater to our dietary restrictions, create some very memorial foodie experiences, and be genuine and kind really brought this to an easy 5. Thank you for the experience El Burrito! We will be back!

What a lovely place. Extremely friendly staff and delicious home style Mexican food. I've eaten here twice and both times was totally happy with the experience. Reasonable prices and a very varied, authentic menu. Owned and operated by Mexican people who know what real Mexican food is supposed to taste like.

Great Mexican food especially for Phoenixville. I will say it's not the most traditional (it's definitely targeted towards the local demographics), but still very delicious! Had a lovely atmosphere and worked well for a group of college kids. Service was great and I plan to go back again soon!
