Eddie O's is currently the in-house BBQ service at D & T Drive Inn on the weekends. Apparently, they have been smokin' since 2017 and are already making some noise in the barbecue scene. They were mentioned in Texas Monthly's Top 15 Tex-Mex BBQ Bites in Texas.I've been following D & T Drive Inn's facebook page for awhile and have been meaning to stop in to try Eddie O's but weekends are just bad for me since I work retail. Alas, I finally had a Saturday off. It was pretty slow at D & T when I arrived around 2:00 There were roughly 4 people in Eddie O's t-shirts sitting at the bar. I wasn't too sure where to place my order but I did see their menus scattered throughout the bar counter. I decided to order a drink while I was browsing through the menu. The bartender told me I could order my food from the kitchen window behind me whenever I was ready.I was really hoping Eddie O's would be serving their elote. Unfortunately, it was not on the menu today. But, they were serving their famous "Magic Beans" and El Nino Brisket Tacos. The beans are indeed magic! Probably the best tasting beans I've had in Houston. The chicharrón on top is definitely a nice touch. And, be sure to order the larger serving size! The El Nino... I wasn't aware they made their own flour tortillas until I came back home and visited their website. The brisket was nicely seasoned, smoked and just the right amount of fattiness. I definitely will be back to try their other specials. Especially the barbacoa! Hopefully, they will continue with their success and have a brick and mortar restaurant of their own some day.

Have had Eddie O's several times. Its always OK and nothing more, which is a shame because everything always looks amazing. They certainly know how to present and photograph the food. It just never seems to overly impress me. Unless they are doing a special event they are pretty much just at D&T now. The brisket and barbacoa are fine if nothing special. The pork ribs are overcooked and come off the bone way to easy (yes that is actually a thing, when it all comes off in one peace it is way over cooked). The elote has those flaming hot Cheetos in them which doesn't mix well with me. Having that artificial dusty Cheetos taste, instead of actual spice kind of detracts for me. Charro beans are interesting with a good smokey flavor and cracklins, so that is a semi strange combination that does work for me. It is a family affair, and they all work hard but get backed up easily. I have seen it happen more than once, someone will order, only to be told after about 20-30 minutes they are out. So not the most organized, and sometimes don't seem to be able to read the crowd right on a given night. Though all in all nothing bad at all, and certainly filling when taking in drinks at D&T or whatever bar popup they happen to be at.

First time trying! My boyfriend and I were at the Holler Extravacanza event. The brisket and carnitas were cooked perfectly. I would definitely order from here again!

Great looking presentation but overpriced for being mediocre. $12 tacos is way too much even for a high scale restaurant. I never, not even once have I written a review good or bad but I felt the need to this time because I felt robbed. I had sticker shock when I seen the menu but I told myself I have to try everything once since I'm a big foodie. I said to myself this better be bursting with flavors for days to be worth the price. I set my expectations as high as the price of each taco but only to be disappointed. I wouldn't be writing this review if they were half the price and probably be a return customer. Till then I will just go around the corner to Taconazo food truck and get a whole plate of meat with cheese and able to feed a family for the price of the two tacos. I'm not cheap and believe in paying for quality and quantity but getting the ticket for my wife's and mine food was over $50 with sides not including drinks from the bar. Again, the food was good but not good enough to pay the high prices. I'm sure all the other food is good and he gets creative which is a plus, just wish he'd be more realistic on pricing. People are paying it so I guess my one opinion doesn't or won't matter.
