Intro: I stopped by East End Hardware on a Monday evening. While they have a small gravel parking lot, it was full when I arrived so I parked on a side street for free close by. Located in EaDo, I was excited to check out a new bar. Ambiance (3/5): East End Hardware is a no-frills bar. They have a good-size patio but we opted to sit inside. Inside, they have stool seating at the bar and a couple of tables. East End Hardware is a casual spot. While they have happy hour specials and daily specials, rather than being listed at the bar, they're listed at the door. As a result, I didn't notice the specials until we left which was unfortunate. More prominent placement would help. Service (4.5/5): They don't have waiters but you can order at the bar. The bartender working while I was there friendly and efficient. And they let us linger for a good while after they had closed so we could finish our drinks. That's always appreciated!Food (2.5/5): The food menu isn't extensive but I always appreciate it when a bar serves food too. We went with several appetizers: a cheese board, pimento cheese dip, and a soft pretzel. The pretzel was a disappointment. When it comes to a soft pretzel, you want a crisp exterior with a chewy interior. You also want the exterior of the pretzel to be buttered. This was not it. The pretzel wasn't even as good as a pretzel you can get at a sporting event---which isn't a high bar. It tasted like a frozen pretzel. The pimento cheese dip was served with crackers. It's not often that I come across pimento cheese in Texas. I have a soft spot for pimento cheese because it is popular in North Carolina where I spent four years. The portion size is generous for this dish and it was my favorite out of the three. Finally, the cheese board was pretty similar to the pimento cheese dip because both pimento cheese and crackers are part of the board. In addition to that, other cheeses, kinds of honey, and kinds of butter are included. Not as elaborate as you'll see at other places but not bad. Drinks (4.5/5): The drinks are probably what you care about most and this is an area where East End Hardware delivers. They have a nice list of craft cocktails, beer, and something that makes them unique: alcoholic snow cones! This was a first for me and I couldn't say no. The snow cone is served with a spoon. Eating it takes a while and it gets messy (I spilled some red ice on my shorts) but it is a unique experience. Not something I would order regularly but it was cool to experience once. The cocktails are creative and the beer list is unique so that was appreciated. I had one cocktail and one beer so the trifecta was complete. Overall: Come for the drinks and not the food. Take advantage of their daily and happy hour specials.

One of my favorite bars, always great service and great drinks. I've been wanting to come try their steak and I was not disappointed. Every Thursday starting at 6pm. You get a 14oz ribeye, salad and a Parmesan shallot polenta all for under $25. The menu does say "No To-Go Orders". There was a steady crowd coming in and eating and leaving. It was never over crowded but at a few times did get loud with conversations. They have a great playlist going all night. I asked for my steak to be cooked medium rare and the chef nailed it. Bartenders were friendly and attentive. I'll be back next Thursday!

Nice hidden gem. This is like your local neighborhood bar that has a very homie feel to it. What I like about this place is that it's cozy, relaxing, quiet & good vibes. I'm getting to that age where I dread spots that are so loud that you have to scream to speak to someone, this bar is the total opposite. The bartenders are nice, the customers are laid back & not sloppy drunk & the drinks are good. What more can you ask? I usually order my go to which is the old fashioned ($9). I like that they don't use cheap liquor & my drink taste strong & not watered down. They also have beer & snow cones infused with liquor. You might look at those snow cones and think that it's not going to do anything to you, nah it'll creep up on you. Strong & delicious. I also like that they have board games to keep you entertained. The menu has limited selection of food but the quality is fairly decent. I've tried the "just cheese plate", roast beef panini & brie & big soft pretzel. All were pretty good. I enjoy the pimento cheese. The pretzel comes out fresh & hot. The roast beef panini was solid but the Dijon mustard was overpowering. Overall, this is my favorite local bar to go to. Nice staff, affordable drinks without breaking your bank & cozy atmosphere. They also have outdoor seating as well. The only thing that needs to be updated are their walls in the restrooms other then that I have no complaints. The parking isn't the best but I can look past that. Shoutout to our bartenders Michele & Rennick for their hospitality. Especially Rennick, he was kind, personable & made me feel at home. He also let me try some samples of their beer and they were good. Will I come back? I don't go to bars that often but this will be my go to spot at least once a month. Thanks once again Rennick, you're awesome bro. Tip: they have weekly specials like steak night, you guys should come for that.

My sister loves this place. She lives in Boston now, but when she came back to visit, she wanted to go to East End Hardware. The walls are full of art. There are several games to play with friends, I beat everyone in Uno.The bartenders are nice and helpful. They should have some merch, because my sister would buy a hat and a shirt with their logo. We got lucky and got there for steak night. The food was delicious and cooked how we like it. This is a great place for a boozy snow cone or a tasty steak.

My date, Mr. W, asked if I'd prefer coffee or cocktails.... ummmm, cocktails please, I mean it's Sunday Funday! Mr. W chose @eastendhardwarehtx as our meeting spot which is a cute little bar tucked away in an east end neighborhood. We grabbed two seats at the bar and spent the next hour getting to know each other over the delish cocktails! I started with the strawberry pisco snow ball and he enjoyed a Stout Beer by Brash and for our second beverage we both enjoyed a tiki cocktail I enjoyed the laid back atmosphere, it was a bit noisy but still allowed us to enjoy each other's company and have a pleasant convo. Will definitely return.
