Savoring at Duck and Bao in Houston was such a delight. We ordered half of the Peking duck and it was the perfect amount to share between 2 people. Each bite bursting with succulence and tenderness. The thinness of the tortilla wrap was a game-changer, providing the perfect balance to the rich flavors of the duck. From the very first bite, it was evident that the chefs at Duck and Bao are true masters of their craft. And you can witness how they make the thinly tortilla and the soup dumpling. The meticulous preparation of the thin tortilla wrap allows the savory essence of the duck to shine through without overwhelming the palate. What truly sets Duck and Bao apart is their commitment to delivering an exceptional dining experience. The ambiance was inviting, the service was quick and the presentation of the dish was nothing short of artistry. The texture of the wrap complemented the juicy tenderness of the duck, creating a harmonious symphony of flavors that left me thoroughly satisfied. In conclusion, Duck and Bao in Houston is a culinary gem that deserves every bit of its five-star rating.

We came for Lunar New Year dinner, and since they do not take reservations, there was a wait as expected. While they initially told our party of 7 it was a 40 minute wait, we were in after only about half an hour (and it was well worth the wait!). This is my second time here, and the food and service are both very high quality. We were seated at a corner round table separated by a wall, almost creating an illusion of a private room. The interior design is lovely with tasteful wall decor and furnishings. For the food: The soup in the soup dumplings was delicious, although these are certainly a challenge to handle and maneuver! Eggplant in garlic sauce is always one of my favorite dishes, and they make it very well. The rice noodles with beef were a hit with our family too. The duck came with small round, flat pancakes to wrap everything in, and was just enough for the seven of us. The soup was nicely done, and just right on the seasonings, with some added veggies and glass noodles. The pork belly in the buns are an amazing combo and a must try!All in all - go try Duck N Bao! You won't be disappointed.

Date night at Duck n Bao - the perfect spot!We had little wait time, but just beat the dinner rush. They had people lined up waiting for a table, a good sign.Service was terrific: constant water refills, immediately picking up trash from opened chopsticks or cleaning dirty dishes, and so prompt with the check and our orders. Everything came out perfectly time without overwhelming us or having some dishes sit and get cold. The food was delectable, great balance of classic tastes mixed with new favorites. The wontons and Brussels made a great pairing, the nutty savory Brussels balanced the spicy creamy wontons very well. Wontons we're just spicy enough without being painfully spicy.Pork-Crab soup dumplings were a great addition. The perfect size for two, the wrappers were cooked perfectly and the broth inside mixed well with the filing.By the time entrees came we knew we needed a to-go box. The two classic Asian take-out dishes were delicious, very well done. Orange chicken was hot and slightly spicy with a good amount of breading. Stir fry noodles had the right amount of veggies that were cooked just enough without being too soft or too crunchy. My only critique was the drinks. I had the panda and my partner had the spicy lady. They had an interesting taste. The panda was very sweet, almost too syrupy at times. The spicy lady was in fact spicy but had an earthy taste that was hard to place. These were the special drinks at $15 a piece, so it stung a bit when we didn't enjoy them and didn't finish them. Next time I'd order a more basic drink like a margarita. We were SO pleased with this place, and have found our new favorite take out ( or dine in) Asian restaurant!

As the name suggests, the Peking duck was worth all the hype. It was delicious and tender. The wrap and sauce paired well with the meats. It was pretty busy but there was little to no wait. The service was up to standards. The fried rice and soup dumplings were average but it was all still filling. The interior was decorated nicely and the atmosphere felt like we were just in our own bubble. Everything was quite pricey but it definitely reflected in the quality of the food.

I ordered from here Christmas Day . Site said they were accepting delivery orders. After calling 6 times in the course of 4 hours, I finally was able to get through to someone at the restaurant. They told me my order could not be fulfilled and I would be reimbursed. I was never reimbursed. There goes $76. Poor service.

Went here on a weekday and there's plenty of seating. We ordered a lot and it came out rather quickly. They boast that their Peking duck is very good but... the skin was not crispy. The pancakes were kind of a mess and dry. The toppings like cucumbers are just cucumber skin... the walnut shrimp is great, they use jumbo shrimp . The green beans are tasty, eggplant may have a bit too mushy for my liking. Everything else we had was just decent. Nothing I can say wow. My favorite thing was the hot and sour soup. It's the only thing I felt was excellent. Right amount of spice.

Not in Chinatown so a lil more expensive but we were happy to pay for the better service and more comfortable setting. Delicious food. Nice attentive staff and clean. Duck tastes different than what I'm used to in a good way like the marinade was different. I love the duck flavor really comes through without overpowering spices.

One of the better Chinese restaurants in the rice military area. While prices are a little on the higher end, the food and portioning is fair. A general crowd pleaser will always be the duck that comes with the soup, but their other menu items are just as good. I always recommend a saucy dish like the eggplant and mapotofu which comes with rice and can fill you up. Service is kind and food comes out fast!

Houston has some hidden gems for dining, and Duck N Bao simply adds to the hype. I've seen these guys a few times on social media and have bookmarked it on Yelp to try when I finally made my rounds in H-town. Well, my assessment is that this spot is worth the visit. The restaurant is small so you will be met with a line during dinner service. Arrive early if you have a bigger party and add yourself to the waitlist to save some time. This is what I ordered to taste test --* Crab Meat and Pork Soup Dumplings ($12.95)* half Peking Duck which includes 6 pancakes, duck hoisin sauce, cucumber slices and scallion slices ($32.00)The soup dumplings were amazing. I read that the soup dumplings are handmade in house and I could tell because of its intricacies -- every bite was perfect. And, the ginger dipping sauce sealed the deal for me. Moving over to the Peking Duck, it was surprisingly very well seasoned. I'm from the Bay Area in California so I know what type of potential that particular traditional Chinese dish has. The chefs at Duck N Bao are certainly creating a name for the restaurant and I love it. Supporting small businesses is my motive but it gets even better when the product or service is worth bragging about. My server Carolina was sweet but ran around the restaurant with a sense of urgency as it was busy, and I appreciate that type of hustle. All in all, the experience was worth satisfying my curiosity. I will definitely return when I'm in the area again.

Trying out different Chinese restaurants in the city and came across this one. I loved the interior design of the restaurant and the staff were helpful and accommodating. It is located in a plaza so parking is easy to find. For appetizers, we ordered the soup dumplings which had a great soup to meat ratio that were super flavorful and came with a ginger sauce. We then ordered a beef dry pot, and the house special boiled fish fillet. The beef dry pot was packed with spices but still had the umami flavor. The fish fillet was a bit too numbing for me but was super tender and melted in your mouth. My boyfriend devoured this dish and even drank some of the soup. Overall, we really enjoyed the experience and will be back to try their Peking duck and other dishes!
