I recently visited cantina with 5 friends for lunch on a Thursday and had an extremely disappointing experience. From the moment we walked in, the service was awful. We were seated promptly, but it took over 20 minutes just to see our waitress for the first time. When we finally ordered drinks, they were beyond sour and completely undrinkable. We tried to get the attention of the staff to address the issue, but our waitress was nowhere to be found. When we finally managed to speak to the management, they were unhelpful and dismissive of our concerns. I should mention thay the place was pretty dead for lunch outside of a small party happening. They were very clearly understaffed. The lack of attention and poor service made it impossible to enjoy our day. We ended up leaving before even ordering our meals. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a pleasant dining experience. Save your time and money and go elsewhere.

We love a good mexican spot that has plenty of vegetarian options. We started with the creamy avo salsa and the traditional corn. It was all very good. The tacos were fine too but that burrito is a Filling and delicious. The location is fantastic as well. A good stroll after a good meal is a plus too.

First time being here - the food was amazing! We got the house chips with salsa - if you're looking for chunky salsa though, this wouldn't be for you. But the flavor was great and I prefer this texture. We ordered chicken fajitas which came with large pieces of chicken on a bed of fajita veggies, along with cilantro rice and beans. This also came with 3 street tacos type tortillas and guac/cheese/pico. My kid got the al pastor tacos which she loved as well (don't eat pork so I can't comment on them). The server was very attentive and refilled beverages quick, as well as gave us chips and salsa to go. The atmosphere was nice - art along the walls (my daughter gave me a lesson on Frida) and nice Spanish Christmas music playing which was a very nice break from your traditional music and that Mariah Carey Christmas song. Anyway - highly recommend this place. PS, park in the underground parking garage so you don't have to fight for a spot.

I came here with my family on a Sunday afternoon. The place was not super crowded. The service was really the server was really attentive and fast the ambience it's like a very open modern Mexican style. However, the food is American Mexican flavored don't expect it to be authentic, but I'm fine with that. We ordered the chips with the three different salsa and we also ordered the lobster guacamole. It was so good, I would definitely be trying this a lot more often. There is the lobster tacos with the green salsa that tortilla was on the barely warmed side, but they were good. Overall, my husband tried the Barbacoa tacos, which were generously filled. They do not have any Coke products it's Pepsi so my husband ordered a lemonade style drink which if you have a sweet tooth it's good otherwise I don't recommend it. I just stuck with water. I did like the place. It is in a great area. It is spacious so it doesn't feel like you're right next to any other tables that's open. They also have an outside area and they have a bar to the side inside.

I visited driftwood cantina today for a quick lunch and sat at the bar. It wasn't very busy at all so service was pretty quick and they were attentive. Immediately I was given water and a menu. I opted in to order the chips and house salsa. The chips were good and warm, the salsa was just okay. It could have used a bit more flavor and wasn't my favorite restaurant salsa that I've had but it was decent overall.I asked the bartender for recommendations for a meal and he said to look at the tacos and entrees but wouldn't give me "specific recommendations" as he felt food choices were subjective. I would have liked to have known at least what some of the house favorites were and I thought it strange that he wouldn't at least share that.I opted for the fish tacos grilled with salsa verde as I'm allergic to avocado. They were okay, I felt like the lack flavor, I wanted a bit more flavor, it was just a bit underwhelming. The mango salsa was nicely prepared and the fish was grilled well however.Overall it was an okay experience, I'll go back to try something else. I do love that it's located in the Lafayette village area so I can shop and take care of other things while I'm there and the parking is plentiful.

I visited Driftwood Cantina with a few coworkers recently and left very happy. The atmosphere is fun and well decorated without being over the top. It was colorful but classy. Our waitress was absolutely amazing and on top of it with everything. We visited around 4:30pm and there were only two people inside, so I'm sure that helped her be as quick as she was. I ordered the Blue Pineapple Margarita and the Hibiscus Margarita for my drinks and they were both outstanding! My coworker ordered the Prickly Pear Mule but because she's a light weight and couldn't finish it, I did the honors and enjoyed that one as well. Driftwood Cantina makes amazing drinks! For my meal, I ordered us bottomless chips with the Cool Salsa to share and the Enchiladas Mole for me not to share because man, those were good!! The chips were well seasoned and the sauce on the enchiladas was decadent. The only negative thing I would have to say is that the prices are a bit high considering you don't get rice and beans on the side, you have to order that separately. Otherwise, everything was delicious and I would absolutely come back again!

Taco Tuesday! It wasn't busy when we came in so we were seated right away. The fun stuff: Chips and salsa...the salsa was a bit sour for my taste.Chicken tinga: plentiful of pulled dry chicken with a bit of sauce. The sauce did not help. The corn tortilla is made in house daily so it was good.Carne asado: very flavorful thin sliced steak with onions and peppers. Would def order again.Taco Tuesday: any set taco $10Margarita special: $6 with lunazul tequila. I loved it. Service: wonderful. Abby checked on us and made sure we had everything we needed.

NO FLAVOR - This was an interesting visit. First time. Hostess said there would be a 30 minute wait. Yet we saw several tables that were available. She said she had to clean them, but they were clean and had napkins on them. Humm. She then said you can sit at the bar and eat, so we did.The bartenders waited on us right away. We each ordered separately. First order was fajitas, second order a tostado, the third order given ten minutes later was a burrito. The second order came out first. I was done by the time the first order came out. And the third order never came because it never went through. The bartenders got busy and we were forgotten. The spicy tinga (chicken tostado) looked so good but was so disappointing. It was bland with no flavor and it had no kick. I was very hungry and ate it all but did complain to my friends how bland it was. I had to ask for salt to see if that would help but it did not. I had to ask for salsa because the chicken was dry. That helped get it down. When I read Spicy, I expect spicy. Very sad. The bartender said she would not charge me, but I told her no, just discount it a little. It was only $8 and I did eat all of it but she did not charge me.The chicken fajitas ($15) that my friend had said it was good. She let me did try the black beans and cilantro rice. The black beans were good but the cilantro rice again no flavor. Where are the Mexican spices? My other friend got a chicken burrito ($14). She said it was good. None of us raved about the food. I would not eat here again. Prices are good but the food bland. The bartenders were nice and very busy so that we had to get the attention of our bartender several times. The place must have also been short handed because we were there a long time. We were not in a hurry but we asked for our tickets and it took at least 15 minutes until we asked again. We wished the bartenders good luck when we left.

We ordered takeout and were pleasantly surprised.I ordered the fish tacos and was quite surprised by the large serving of fish provided! Most places give 1/2 the fish they give! We did receive the food cold (obviously not the restaurant's fault) so the fish was a bit dry. It was a bit bland but I put some of the guacamole on there and it was good.We also ordered the yuca, plantains and guacamole- all of which were delicious! I am pretty picky about my guacamole. Most places don't add enough acidity but theirs is perfect! I would really like to try it in person next time so we can experience it fresh and hot! But I would definitely order again!

I hadn't been to Driftwood since it was Driftwood Southern Kitchen. It has been transformed into Driftwood Cantina now. The decor and the menu both have changed. February brought the newest menu. The restaurant takes reservations so that makes it so much easier when dining out. They also have Saturday and Sunday brunch. I believe that they just recently started being open on Sundays. They also have indoor and outdoor seating. The hostess was very friendly as she checked us in and led us to our tables. Our waitress was also upbeat and possibly new as she was having trouble putting the orders in and forgot my drink. S Also some checks had the wrong items on them and my credit card was charged for someone else's order. But that was addressed once we could get the attention of the waitress. he was knowledgeable about the menu and gave some recommendations and got answers to the questions she wasn't 100% sure about.I ordered the Tres Leches French Toast. I did enjoy it but seeing what others ordered I will want to try something else next time as the menu has a lot of options besides the brunch items.
