The inside is nice and clean, I wish I'd grabbed photos. (Will on next visit). The service was quick since I ordered for pickup and had a great small chat. The pizza was hitting on some! I'm not a big fan of deep dish but this was a great deep dish for me. The sauce was good, the cheese was great, and the pepperonis brought it all together. The dough was fluffy and soft b it had a nice crust on the edges to give a crunch. Will definitely be back, and the pizza size regardless of what other reviews say is big enough lol, it's a deep dish, 1 pizza is shareable.

I've been meaning to get here for a long while, probably since they opened a couple years ago. I'm on board with the mission and love the idea of a restaurant at 28th and Lehigh that is worth going out of your way. Finally got here and was not disappointed.Fries were spectacular. Cauliflower wings were spectacular (I now know to get a side of the excellent house-made buffalo sauce because more is more with good hot sauce). Got the Uptown Vibes pizza and it was - no surprise - spectacular. A really unique take on Detroit-style pizza. As other reviews noted, the dough has an almost focaccia-esque tang and chew, which I really liked. The Detroit-style burnt edges were there and they were delicious. One pizza (with the wings and fries) was more than enough for two adults to eat too much and still have leftovers.Service was friendly and military-level precise: I arrived at 4:41 for my scheduled 4:45 takeout order and waited exactly (probably to the second) four minutes for my order.Highly recommended for both the food and the mission. I would love to see more small businesses (particularly restaurants with excellent grub) orient themselves toward effectuating meaningful change in traditionally underserved communities.

This place has been on my list for some time and I was fortunate to visit at a downtime. Amongst a city full of pizza shops, Down North stands out among the greats.ENVIRONMENTThe restaurant is relatively easy to find and seats no more than 5 or so people in the shop. The wait was a tad excessive which I credited to the food being "made with love".FOOD I love a good piece of focaccia! Another contributor commented that their pizza can be likened to focaccia which I would find to be incredibly accurate. The "Detroit" style was incredibly flavorful accompanied by a heaping of toppings(I settled on the "I'm A Boss"). I will admit the fries left a bit much to be desired but not enough to influence my rating. If you're based anywhere in North Philly between Farimount and Erie Ave, I can confidently say Down North is among the top three picks for the area. Happy eating!

Some recommended this place. I was in the area, so I called in my Oder Parking: Residential StreetAtmosphere: small, bright with nice wall decor. You can dine in as well as takeout. You have to use a card in order to place an order over the phone. Service: It was good. The cook and counter guy was going back and forth about inventory, so that was a little uncomfortable, but Pizza: I ordered their popular Roc The Mic, which is 4 Cheese + Beef Pepperoni + Norf Sauce (spicy). It was made to order, and it came out piping hot! I didn't taste spicy and would have liked more cheese and flavor. The pizza is a deep dish square pizza. $23 for the size was steep to me. I didn't eat all of it and reheated it the next day, and it didn't taste that good. Drink: lemonade. Strawberry, I believe, and it was good. Overall, the pizza was ok (not worth $23). Maybe the next time if I go back, I'll split it with someone, get extra cheese, and eat my portion in one sitting and

Best pizza in Philly (if you're a deep dish lover)! The dough is nice and buttery and only slightly crispy at the edges. I got the Roc the Mic pizza, which had the perfect amount of cheese, tomato, and pepperoni. I was a bit skeptical of the beef pepperoni (there doesn't seem to be any pork of the menu), but it hardly tasted different him pork pepperoni. Will be ordering from here again soon!

I cane during the last 30minutes and almost missed ny opportunity to taste the BEST PIZZA I'VE EVER HAD!!! Oh my gosh... it's perfect from start to finish!! It's moist and all the toppings have their individual taste so every bite is full of flavor. I absolutely love the mission and intent behind the business. I received service from the chef/owner himself! What a pleasant surprise!! This is going on my MUST HAVE list while in Philly. I recommend you stop by. Order delivery or pick up. Be patient as they serve so many hungry people all day. I promise it's worth the wait.

WOW! We swung by on a Saturday night before an event at Laurel Hill. The Break You Off was one of the best pizzas I've ever had. Crispy crust, flavorful toppings, and just the right amount of cheese. Maybe even more impressive, the vegan No Betta Love was also amazing. The norf sauce is spicy and delicious and you wouldn't know the cheese is vegan. The apple pie milkshake and blueberry lemonade were pretty great too. It took us about 20 minutes to get our order, which makes sense because we watched them make our pizza from scratch! They have seating for like 5-6 people. It's mostly a takeout place, but the guys were plenty nice to us while we dined in. I would 100% go out of my way to go to this place again next time I'm in Philly.

This review is long overdue! I visited Down North Pizza when they first opened, and I'm so glad I did. The space itself is small, and the prices might be a bit higher than your average pizza spot, but it's absolutely worth it. My best friend and I were drawn here not just for the food, but for what the establishment stands for--uplifting and giving back to the community. The pizza and wings were delicious, with unique flavors that really set them apart from the usual fare. The staff is friendly and welcoming, which only adds to the experience. Supporting Down North Pizza means supporting a business that genuinely cares about its community. I highly recommend giving them a try!

Down North Pizza put a spin on the crust. It is crunchy on the edge and chewy in the center. For me, pizza is just as much about the crust as the topping. This crust is akin to foccacia bread. Not thin crust, NY or Chicago style. The toppings are creative and lend themselves well to the crust. The tomato-to-crust to topping ratio is spot on. I like it!
