I really want to rate higher but...Pizza prices these days are astronomical. I treat myself once a month to "expensive pizza" and expect that they'll deliver (good quality) pizza each time. I remember ordering dough head about a year ago and was blown away by the crust! (I am not a crust eating pizza person) This dough is best I ever had! My last 3 ordered I have been super disappointed. I spend $1 for extra sauce - they give me regular amount of sauce on my pizza. I spend $3 for extra pepperoni - they give me standard amt of pepperoni. Again- If I am willing to pay for this ridiculously expensive pizza ($43 after delivery & tip) but I expect there be to extra sauce and extra pep when it's asked for....

I'm on the journey to try the top pizza places and Philly and started here. The crust is crispy with a slight char but not burnt, very well done. Pizza is not too floppy and the undercarriage cooked to the right texture. Flavor is great, right amount of sweet and tangy tomato. The garlic knots are amazing, so flavorful with a nice bite and not too doughy, hard to imagine a better knot anywhere else in the city. I'd put this place top 3 in Philly.

I have had some really bad pizza in this city, and I've had some okay pizza too. However, this is the only pizza place I find myself going back to. Truth be told, I don't have the patience for Angelo's so I can't compare Dough Head to them (yet). Everyone on my street (mere blocks from Dough Head) order it too because I always see a box out on trash night. We love the dough mama (white pizza with crumbled broccoli) and the Olivia gluten John (chicken, sun dried tomatoes). You should go for their premade selections, rather than DIY because you'd be hard pressed to make something more delicious than their options. I've ordered online several times, and it's always ready on time. They recently started a rewards program too so now I can see how much of a fatty I'm really being by looking at my rewards!

Been hearing lot about their pizza on lot of best ofs ( oh btw best ofs have poor taste buds more about whats hip in place .. lol) finally tried it as its on pricier side & honestly i wasn't impressed.. i mean yea somewhat tasty but for a place with dough in title i found it too cooked to point much of dough was heavy crunchy even burnt in parts & my jaws started hurt after 2nd piece.. got the square granny pie.. & order of garlic knots. Knots were bit dry seems nobody in philly knows how to kick up garlic knots ...dough head did a decent job w/chop up actual garlic some evoo sprinkle Locatelli blk pepper bit salt .. anyhow not sure ill try doughhead again.. got my favs in center city & in-our vicinity though sure wish angelos delivered..

Wow! I was walking by and had already eaten dinner and literally followed my nose towards the delicious dough fragrance being emitted.. we had to investigate! Wow, it looked and smelled delicious, so we ordered 4 slices (2 cheese, 2 pepperoni) to go for next day's lunch. I could smell a great slice and my nose never lied. The service was kind and hospitable and mentioned they opened about two years prior. Later that evening while escaping a thunderstorm without umbrellas and after arriving home, I was grateful the box kept the pizza dry. When I opened the box, I was surprised to see one pepperoni slice was mostly eaten as if a big mouse found it .. lol that big mouse was my husband who devoured most of the pepperoni slice, at room temperature. And he thought it was great! And so, I finished the slice to discover it was one of the best pizza slices we ever ate and not even heated! Wow, our foray into pizza eating in Philadelphia started off here and couldn't be a better start!! I grew up in Philly in the 80s and 90s and left in 2001 to return now over twenty years later and, wow, the food scene has exploded! It's always been a gem and now much more!!

Best pizza I've had so far in Philly. Great crust texture and really good flavor of the sauce because it's just pure crushed tomato flavor. I wish they had a pizza that just had fresh mozzarella as opposed to the cheese blend they use, but that's my personal preference. The rest of our group liked the cheese blend. All in all would go back!

Highly, highly recommend. This pizza had an amazing crust and the sauce was a very simple red sauce (not sweet). We also noted how large the pizza was given the price. The pick up was extremely quick and timely. Only thing was there wasn't really seating so something to note if you go

I came here strictly to leave a 5 star review because 4.4 for this place is criminal. It's legitimately some of the best pizza you'll get in Philadelphia, period. The owner himself was there working with everyone else, giving out orders, saying hello, making you feel like you're at a real neighborhood spot.Just go. Go now.
