This place cannot be missed! The calamari appetizer was excellent, craft cocktails amazing (& BOGO during happy hour) and the birria tacos were incredible. Marcos was our server and bartender and he was exceptional! The entire experience was great from start to finish, couldn't recommend more!

This place caught my attention since it's lively from the outside but once inside it's a different story. We asked for the fans to be put on and we were ignored. It took forever for someone to come over and take our order but finally she came over. We ordered guacamole and chips and she was annoyed we didn't order more. You could tell once the guacamole came it wasn't fresh at all. It had that taste when guacamole just sits there and they think they can splash some lime on it and yeah boom it's done. No, definitely wouldn't come back here. Typical texmex place. Not authentic at all.

We decided to stop in after walking a few blocks because we wanted a margarita. This isn't a traditional restaurant, it's a lobby bar restaurant, with a bar & seats and a few tables inside the hotel lobby and patio seating. In the humid July Miami, we wanted to sit inside, so we sat at a 4-top. The chairs are not comfortable and with the guests of the hotel coming in and out, it was quite bustling. They do not have ice or lemons for water. We ordered a pineapple margarita and a chicken quesadilla. Nothing off the wall or extra, just simple. Small portion for the price for food, but that might be a Vegas vs Miami thing. The margarita was ok. They claimed it was a double shot, but it didn't taste like it, so maybe that makes it better? We never saw our waiter again after he took our order. The bartender came over once to ask if we needed anything else and we asked for the bill. They do have a 20% service fee and then an additional spot on the bill for an extra tip if you choose. I'm not sure if this is SoP for Miami Beach, but I guess we'll find out as we go tonight. I didn't feel like our service was that great, but it is what it is. They also only take cash or chip cards - make sure you note that!

We initially wanted to go to Abuela's tacos but it was closed. The sign on the door directed us next door to Don Sombrero. The waitress let us know that Abuelas is now Don Sombrero. I love that they have outdoor seating. Even though it was hot outside, the covered porch/patio area was all shade, and they have heavy fans blowing in every direction. We were very comfortable for the entire dinner. The host was super friendly and welcoming to us. It was busy, but we were seated right away. Our waitress was friendly and helpful when we had questions about the menu. For an appetizer, we had the chicken flautas on a bed of lettuce and flavored guacamole. The chicken was pulled chicken. It was delicious. You have to try it.We also ordered chicken tacos, steak taco's and the birria tacos. The steak was tender but missing flavor. We added a little hot sauce and that helped a lot. The birria taco was really good and flavorful. Not the best I've ever had but it was good. The chicken taco, however, was the best out of the 3. It was the most flavorful. There were a ton of other great sounding items on the menu. Oh, I almost forgot. They charge an automatic 20% "service fee" to every bill. It's written in very small print on the menu. Our bill was almost $200. I wouldn't mind the price if the food was top tier, but it was lacking.3 stars for the ambiance, chicken taco, and the flautas

We were starving and in the mood for some apps and cocktails to hold us over until a late dinner reservation.... almost passed this place by, but so glad that we decided to give it a try!Very nice staff... Coti was awesome! I wish I could transplant her and this place back to New Jersey! She was super nice, attentive, and giving. There was no one really inside (Super Bowl was on)... but, I can imagine the regulars that come back when they find out how good the service, food, and drinks are. I can taste my coconut margarita now. It was perfectly balanced and delicious. You can tell there was actual cream of coconut in it. I ordered and tasted the following: guacamole (perfect), tuna tostada (never really see that on a Mexican menu... but it absolutely worked!), shrimp nachos (really good with the perfect amount of toppings)... everyone else really enjoyed their food, all plates were clean. We left full and happy.

Pros: The wait staff was super nice. The place has a Vegas feel, which I loved, as well as stained glass windows. The restaurant is on a less crowded street than Ocean Avenue, which is nice. The music is popping! I saw a bartender give a hotel resident (the hotel is attached to the restaurant) a bottle of water for free, which was kind of him. The manager personally brought my food out, which was nice. My food was delicious (I got Veggie fajitas), and my husband had no complaints about the fish tacos either.Cons: My husband and I waited for a minute to be greeted. The cost is pretty steep for the amount of food you get. Overall score: A-

We really enjoyed our meal and drinks at Don Sombrero but what really made our night was our server Alexandro B. He was fun and attentive and made sure our night was memorable. My husband ordered the carne asada tacos and said they were meaty and probably the best tacos he's ever had. I ordered the Churrasco and it was amazing too. We both got super margaritas and you can tell they used fresh ingredients. They were really good and complimented our meals well. The restaurant is in south beach and has south beach pricing but definitely felt like we like we got our moneys worth.

Pros: Nice outdoor seating, good music, free water. Cons: TOURIST TRAP!!!! Wow we went because of the review but we were deceived, probably the worse service and worse tacos I've had in a long while, and it's ridiculously overpriced for the quality. I would forgive the price if the food was worth it.The guacamole was def from a store bought container, there was nothing fresh about that concoction. The server was rude and full of himself, but when 20% gratuity is included, I guess you don't have to worry about quality of service. Will never return. IT'S A TRAP.
