Over the last couple of years, I've had excellent Mexican food in Georgia, Florida, North Carolina and Virginia. We've been to three Mexican restaurants in Pennsylvania, none of which compel me to return.Positive reviews brought us to Don Mezcal, plus I had a $5 coupon, and the restaurant advertises complimentary margaritas.I love a good margarita. Three sips of this, and I had enough. (It was likely a bottled mix with a dash of tequila.) Chips and spicy salsa were particularly good, but our mains, just a smidge over three stars.Had the chicken in my quesadilla been marinated, it would've been so much better. The salad with a dollop of sour cream was nothing special as was the rice, served luke warm. My husband's mole ranchero was also serviceable but hardly memorable. We split a ball of fried ice cream which may have been the star of the show.

Roomy spot with decent food and relatively quick/friendly service. They offer free chips and salsa and a free margarita per person, so if you're looking for a casual dinner spot with decent value, this is a good option. My husband and I ordered the chicken fajitas, shrimp tacos, chili relleno side, and churros. The chicken fajitas and shrimp tacos were well flavored, and I especially liked the sauce that came with the tacos. The shrimp tasted fresh and not overcooked. Each of our entrees came with rice and beans, neither of which was exceptional but neither were they bad! The chili relleno came with the option of chicken or beef, and it was actually pretty tasty with the beef. I've never had chili relleno with meat before--I'd always thought of it as just chili, rice, and cheese. The cheese that came on top was also pretty tasty. I wonder if this was a regional version. Either way, I approved! The churros were a bit on the dense side, but what's not to like about fried cinnamon sugar with chocolate and whipped cream? They don't seem to have a full drink menu yet (weird for a place with Mezcal in the name), but I assume they're working on that liquor license!

Relatively authentic Mexican food served by very authentic Mexicans. I's a chain (which means its sparkling clean .. for those who are squeamish about mom-and-pop taquerias. Huge menu with all the gringo favorites. Service is sincerely friendly, and the food is well-prepared with fresh ingredients served at the proper temperature. Prices are great. I still love my Norristown holes-in-the-wall, but for the Main Line, the prices are great, and I'm sure they are consistent as well-managed chains tend to be. Nothing not to like.

The lunch fajitas with strips of beef were perfectly seasoned but slightly too salty. The portion size was generous, and the service was quick and friendly. They accommodate my request for corn tortillas and no beans. A must-try for any Mexican food lover in the area.

A new Mexican restaurant in Bryn Mawr. This is definitely going on my list of favorite local restaurants. I ordered from lunch menu. I went close to 2, and it was not busy, which made me happy for quick service. My server was very friendly and attentive. Chips and pico de gallo were brought to the table once I was seated. The homemade chips were crispy and paired well with the mild pico de gallo. The pico was traditional with ingredients and was really good with the chips. I ordered the chicken chimichanga with Spanish rice. The dish was flavorful, and the chicken was nicely seasoned. The cheese sauce, lettuce, tomatoes, shredded cheese, sour cream , and guacamole complemented the dish. It was a great blend of flavors. The rice was lightly flavored and perfect as a side dish..y dessert was the fried ice cream. It did not disappoint. The ice cream ball is served in a fried tortilla wth a and the crispy coating of frosted flakes with the frozen vanilla ice cream. It was delicious with toppings of whipped cream, honey, chocolate, and a maraschino cherry. It was a yummy birthday lunch. I cannot wait to return for dinner.Dinner Tonight Grilled Shrimp Fajita 10/10Flauta (chicken &cheese) 10/10 Beef Tacos

We have a ladies dinner once a month and decided for our March dinner to pick a local Mexican restaurant. Don Mezcal came highly recommended by another neighbor so we were eager to try it out. It's important to note that there is nothing on the website to indicate that they are BYOB, and we didn't realize it until we pulled up in front of of the restaurant, but that issue was completely resolved with a complementary margarita. Was it the best margarita I ever had, absolutely not, but to save $12 on a tasty drink at the end of the day, I'm all in.When we were first seated in the comfy chairs, they brought out copious amounts of warm chips and tasty salsa. These were replenished throughout the meal at no additional charge. One member of our group ordered the guacamole and said it was fantastic. The menu offers your basic Mexican fare and some delicious specials. Even the picky eaters in our group found something that they liked. I had the Camarones Mexicanos, which was shrimp in a creamy cheese sauce and it was divine. With each dish you also receive a nice helping of Mexican rice, sour cream on a bed of lettuce, and most dishes included refried beans as well.Because we are large party, we arrived a little on the early side, and the restaurant did fill up as evening went on. We had three people assisting our table, and all of our meals came out of the same time. They kindly added a few pitchers of water on the table and the staff was extremely attentive. All in all, everyone was pleased with their selections. The restaurant has a pleasing decor, with solid tables and comfortable chairs. The average price per dish, including tax and a 20% tip, was about $24 which is pretty amazing in this day and age. Overall, we had a great time at Don Mezcal and are looking forward to returning soon.

Checks all the boxes for me for a Mexican eatery. Food tastes good, fresh, and has good variety. Menu is extensive, service is fast. The interior is decorated nicely and feels airy. Prices are good, especially the lunch specials. Service is fast and efficient and they give you piping hot chips and salsa. Now this is our go to Mexican place in our neighborhood, which has quite a lot of Mexican eateries.

They are offering free margaritas! Maybe the restaurant is new, I don't know. We were visiting Indiana and our son has major food allergies and Mexican offten woks well for him. Anyhow, the food was very good, the prices were quite reasonable and hey --free margaritas!
