This is a must visit if you are not a rush and have patience. No reservations and no they do not pick up their phone. Things to note:1) No reservations and they close early at like 7pm. Yes, 7pm but we finished our meal at like 7:30pm - so people still sit around and eat.2) No indoor AC, so on these hot Colorado summer days ... even the outdoor garden is warm, plus these are a lot of flies outside3) Nevertheless - try to sit outdoor because there is a full Japanese garden 4) The service is very very very slow and sometimes you are waiting just to order your meal5) no alcohol6) do not ask for soy sauce with your raw fish here bc they already pre-season it and it's a no no7) I love this soy milk both thing where you dip your noodles 8) no there are no sushi roads, it's more of a Japanese comfort food place - think curries, ramen, teriyaki bowls (homemade sauces)Again - if you are not ok with very subpar service .. do not come here, otherwise pretty decent prices, a little garden in the middle of the hood (tbd sometimes a lot of homeless wander) but otherwise you are near Santa Fe.

Yikes. This place is so hyped that I was really looking forward to it, but the only decent part of the experience was the garden, which is admittedly beautiful. We arrived and were seated outside, and our server came to take our drink order. The online menu showed a selection of beer, wine, and sake. We wanted to order sake, but we were told that they are redoing their liquor license and only had tea or soda as drink options. This should have been advertised on the website. The food menu is also drastically different from what is advertised online. I asked the server if the kimchi ramen was spicy, and he said yes, so I ordered it with pork. There was an egg shown on the menu for this item, and I tried to ask if I could get the egg over-medium but the server said the photo was outdated and this ramen didn't come with an egg. My wife ordered a different ramen dish (A2) with beef. Lo and behold, my ramen arrived with a severely undercooked egg (runny whites, barely done enough to stay together). My ramen was not spicy at all, and was honestly really bland and flavorless. My wife's came in a large plastic bowl, while mine was in a cast iron bowl. My broth was so hot that it was impossible to eat for quite a while (although an upside to the scalding broth is that I was able to push my egg into it to cook it more). My wife's broth was slightly sweet, which was odd, and the beef in hers was so fatty that you could see pools of fat floating on the top. Our server didn't come back to our table until almost 40 minutes after our food came out, so we weren't able to voice any concerns with the meal.Neither one of us enjoyed our meal (and we usually LOVE Japanese food). For a meal we didn't like, it was a steep $50 after tip. To top it off, something in my ramen made me ill and I was sick to my stomach the whole next day. I don't recommend this place and will not be returning.

decent japanese food with a lovely outdoor seating area! i got the curry udon with a pork cutlet, i would recommend. it was tasty and came with miso soup and 2 sides. the cutlet wasn't crispy, but it still tasted good.service was fine, they checked up on us frequently and made sure our cups were always filled with cold water. overall, solid japanese food in the area.

We thought the food, service, and ambiance was great! For a mid week lunch, the place was quiet and it was easy to get a table. The food is different from most options in Denver, and we loved the variety.

Came here on the recommendation of a neighbor with a discerning palate. Glad we got here. Unique for its ambience and menu. For a Tuesday lunch it was pretty busy. We enjoyed everything we ordered. Service was a little slow but they were very busy. We did order Chicken Karage which did not come out. As we were paying our bill we were told it was coming to us in a "to go" box. This was ok since we were pretty full by this time. We can overlook some of the service issues for the uniqueness of the venue and menu.

One of my favorite restaurants in the Denver area since 2016! So happy they reopened after covid. Since then, they made their menu smaller and the quality of the food is still great. Got curry udon and it was delicious and flavorful. Love all the sides you get with your meal. The portions are massive so you'll have leftovers. Highly recommend getting their takoyaki (not pictured).I love the atmosphere of the Japanese garden so definitely try to site outside. They don't take reservations so try to go during a non-busy time (call ahead!). Their parking lot is a bit small but there should be plenty of street parking.

I last came here pre-COVID in 2019. It was excellent then and still excellent today. Very authentic Japanese food, and it looks like they are going back to their original menu and simplified things. There's no more ramen, but the choices are still delicious. You get 2 pre-determined sides with each entrée and they simplified it to where each entrée is around $17. You get a lot of food for that amount. They focus a lot on curry, donburi (rice bowls), and udon now. I got to try the sukiyaki beef udon and the pork & cabbage hotpot. Both were great. If you're feeling a rich broth, then go with sukiyaki. The hotpot was a nice, clean, and refreshing dashi miso broth (I liked this one better). The hotpot had an odd rice cake which I would have preferred tofu but this must be more authentic. They provide plenty of ingredients. The Japanese meatball side was yummy, and the noodle dish was light and refreshing. Parking is still very limited, but they've changed their hours to 11am-7pm straight, which is convenient. My friends and I went when it was not busy. I love the fact they are very involved in the community locally and give back worldwide and offer humanitarian support. Dining here also helps them with providing support.

Unique/nice environment, but with slow service and mediocre food.Understaffed and customers are scattered all over the place that the workers have no time to help them.We had to ask several times to have our orders taken and water was never filled.Food was ok.

I was in Denver to visit my friends, and we decided to have lunch at Domo, a Japanese restaurant. Although the wait was a bit long, the experience was well worth it. The food was delicious and the portions were huge, offering great value for the price. The authentic flavors and variety of dishes made it a memorable meal. One of the highlights was the serene garden in the back, which provided a peaceful atmosphere. Additionally, the dojo was really cool, featuring old Japanese artifacts that added a unique and cultural touch to the dining experience. Despite the wait, the quality of the food and the fantastic deals make Domo a spot I'd definitely recommend.

Looking forward to coming back to Domo once their full menu is back and the patio is open. We had an emergency mid-meal and my partner had to run back home for about 25 mins, the Domo staff was so kind checking in with us and even re-heated his food once he got back. We visited Domo right after we returned from our trip to Japan and it was so nice having authentic Japanese food again! I notice some of the more critical comments on this page may have been looking for Americanized Japanese food which Domo is not - if you are simply looking for sushi and ramen their current menu is not for you. The standard single price structure is really nice and I loved that the dishes all came with sides. It was a nice way to try some new things and made for a really balanced meal. They forgot my soup and brought me only an empty bowl but it's ok. Everything else was delicious. We were seated in the back corner bench seats, and unfortunately felt tucked away / very uncomfortable as there was no basket or hook for our jackets, and it was awkward to order since the seat is blocked by a table and the waiter couldn't actually reach us. The beautiful dining room is half the reason we came so it was unfortunate we were seated facing the wall and didn't get to enjoy it. Also I am a bit of a germaphobe so I didn't love having decorative items on the table/windowsill right in front of our food since they were a bit dusty. I think this is only an issue with the bench seats and the ambiance is much better at a table.
