They have more varieties of buns and dessert after they renovated the store. It looks cleaner and organized. Now they have donuts, blueberries cream cheese bun ( it's so good), tiramisu.Coconut pineapple bread is so soft like a pillow. You can pull apart per section. It has sugary pineapple topping. Price is still reasonable, on average it's below $3

Went a few minutes before closing so they were out of most things. Coconut bun was really good, but as it was closing time, it was a little cold for my liking. Would taste really good fresh and warm. I guess it would be best to visit them in the morning hours. Highly recommend the Panda sponge cake sandwich - so soft and airy!! Like the coconut bun, it was not overfilled, had a mellow flavor and was only mildly sweet. The Hong Kong style milk tea was okay.

What a cute find. Lovely little bakery with tons of traditional Asian options (buns, custards, etc.). Mix of savory and sweet. We ended up getting a LOT of things as we had so much trouble deciding between everything and everything was so cheap! Some were better than others but definitely glad we got a nice array. They also sell bubble tea but we opted to skip this this time.

I've been wanting to stop by this place after first trying a custom pandan cake from them at a Lunar New Year event earlier this year. It was oh so light and not too sweet, of course, so I assumed their other offerings would be just as good. I wasn't wrong! I came in on Sunday to get a pineapple custard bun (my fave Asian pastry!), pineapple coconut bun, egg tart, and strawberry sponge cake. I also paid for a durian pastry, which wasn't in the bag when I left, but after messaging the store, they offered to make sure I get one next time! Anyway, the pastries I did get were all excellent. Soft and creamy and crisp and flaky exactly where you'd want them to be. I need to get a lot more than one of each next time haha. The surprise standout to me was actually the strawberry sponge cake, which was dense but fluffy with ample cream. It was so perfect with a few sips of coffee! Given the variety of things that I tried, I'm confident that Dodo doesn't miss. Their store and branding is super cute, too. Can't wait to go back and try more things!

They have an amazingly large menu for such a small low key place. One of my favorite bakeries in Philly!

It was pretty full when I got there because school just ended, but I got a matcha latte with aloe (it was a last min. topic decision because they ran out of tapioca pearls that day) and my friend got a strawberry milk tea. Both were great, and the server genuinely seemed like a nice guy. We also got a pineapple bun and butter cookies (they were kinda pricey) and they were rlly good! I'll definitely come again to try a few more of their drink options.

First let me start off by saying the nicest people work there. They told me if I wanted any egg custard tarts, I can call early that morning and pick it up in the afternoon. So I ordered their famous pandam tarts that sell out every morning because no one else makes these and thought it would be a unique Thanksgiving dessert. Everyone thought they were good but that it tasted like a regular dan tat (egg custard tart). There was not a bit of pandam flavor at all! It was very disappointing since we all love pandam. Maybe it was just a fluke. I hope because I like to support local businesses.

Dodo bakery is a good addition to the south philly neighborhood for when you're craving Chinese/ Hong Kong style bread but doesn't want to go all the way to Chinatown. My favorite are the floss roll, the chicken sandwich and the sesame balls. Floss roll; the mayo (what I assume to be mayo) adds moisture to the bread and the floss roll balance the sweetness of the dough. Chicken in the bread is cooked well and vegetables always looks fresh; combining with the bread it comes with a good flavor profile. Sesame balls, I just like them. Sometimes the skin can be a bit too thick but it's still pretty good.I find their bread profile to be a bit too sweet sometimes that I find myself leaning toward their savory selections. I've purchased from them a few times and I have to say they seem to keep on improving themselves in term of their flavor, selections and service. Their first week of opening I didn't want to go back but I'm glad that I did.Overall, with their large selections of buns and drinks, there bound to be something you would like when you visit.

Came here to pick up a bag of breads and pastries last weekend. Store was pretty empty by the time I came (around 5:30) so come early!I got- 4 pandan egg tarts- 1 ham and egg bun- 1 snow mountain bun- 1 butter and sugar bunUnfortunately, the ham and egg bun was moldy so I can't comment on the taste. The other two buns were pretty dry and flavorless. The butter and sugar bun had a super light sugar glaze and I think butter slivers inside and the snow mountain bun had a slight sugary crust on top. Both bread portions were very dry. The egg tarts were okay but the custard part was more jello like in consistency and more sugary than I was used to. The crust was also not flaky pastry crust but a cookie crust (just as a headsup!) service was super friendly, but would probably go back to the Asian bakeries in Chinatown instead.

Dodo is such a gem. We stopped by to grab some pastries on the way to an Easter brunch, and everything was a hit! I'm so happy to have a sweet little place like this in the neighborhood. I'm ashamed to say we took way too long to try it out, and I don't know why. Maybe because Frangelli's is right there? Thankfully Dodo's business hours coincide with my lack of planning ahead, because whenever I try to do a quick run by Frangelli's (like this morning), they're closed. This place has a very different vibe, and both are great. Highly recommend.
