Mike G. "Excited to try this place after seeing the great reviews. The upfront is a little confusing, as it appears to be counter service, which is where we ordered and took a seat, only to then understand it's also table service if you're eating in. Oh well. It all worked out. Not realizing we were getting lunch specials that came with fries., we ordered a few different appetizers to split. The falafel, veggie paneer, and garlic naan were all delicious, as were the hummus, tzatziki and other sauces that came with them. We also enjoyed our lamb tikka masala burger and vegetarian tikka masala burger. The regular and sweet potato fries were fine but nothing special. However, the lunch deal of burger, fries, and drink for a set price was a nice surprise. Everything was good, and we wouldn't hesitate to come here again."

Doug B. "Nepalese cuisine? A lot of what is on the menu is similar to Indian food, but there are some items that I have not seen elsewhere. First off, you can have yak meat in many of the dishesIt is worth noting that Tarkari is basically a curry dish and daal is the same lentil soup that you'd find at many Indian restaurants. So, Daal Bhat Tarkari is a set meal that consists of lentil soup, rice, and curry. Apparently, this is a national dish of Nepal. One of our fellow diners got this and it looked very good. He was happy with his choice. As with many places, they offer several spice levels, depending on your preference. The momo (dumplings) are a traditional street food and are a nice way to start the meal, though not really required since the dinner portions are generous. Of our group, most people ordered either a curry or a vindaloo at various levels of spiciness and meats ranging from chicken to yak. Yak is mostly like beef to me, and at a high spice level, it was difficult to tell the difference. I think everyone enjoyed their meals as the plates were clean at the end of the meal. We ate in the "garden" area outside and it was nice. They seem to allow pets in that area. I'd like to eat inside next time since on our way through, it looked to be very interestingly decorated. The service was good throughout the meal, although once our plates were cleared, it seemed like we were forgotten and we had to just about grab a server to get them to let us pay. They were pretty busy, but I'd think you'd want to turn a table to get more people in faster. I recommend a reservation, especially if there is something going on at the nearby school or if you have more than a few people in your party. Either that or be ready to wait for a while."

Jennifer V. "Came here on a weeknight and it was pretty empty. After some deliberation, I got jhol chicken momos. It came with 8 momos with decent filling and good wrapper/filling ratio. I was VERY full after my meal! I wasn't the biggest fan of the special bajeko sekuwa sauce but my friends were and drank up every last bit so your mileage can vary! My friends got the roganjosh, butter chicken masala, palak paneer, and mixed chow mein and enjoyed them all! Naan also was good! Portions were big for everything (proportionate to the price since the prices were on the higher end). While the price is on the higher end, the portion is fitting. Not the best Indian food I've had but good momos!! Service was kind of poor, they did not refill our water for awhile despite a pretty empty restaurant but that's just me being nit picky!"

We ordered the Pakora appetizer, which had shrimp, onions, green peppers, and chicken. It all was very tasty, the shrimp was cooked perfectly...which it is extremely difficult when something is deep fried. For our main course we ordered buttered chicken and chicken tiki masala, with rice, garlic naan and palak paneer. It was phenomenal! Everything tasted fresh, and the dish had a perfect blend of spices. It is near little part of Brighton that has a few other non chain restaurants and a nice theater. I highly recommend checking this place out."

Having been to Tibet previously, it's cool to see Tibetan/Indian/Nepalese food featured. We went with the lamb curry and chicken tandoori off the lunch menu. At $11 and $12, you cannot beat the value. Each dish comes with rice, naan, lentils, and a vegetable curry as a side to the meat. Really solid, filling, and delicious. I've honestly never seen so many choice at an Indian restaurant before! It will surely please everyone with such variety. Just give yourself time for perusing so much. The drink prices are excellent here. I tried a Chai Martini, it was sweet and tasty if that's your thing. I am glad they opened a spot on 6th St, so much closer to me and right by The Esquire. So, if you're checking out a movie there, this is the perfect before or after spot!My last meal I swapped out the beloved paneer with tofu in my palak/saag just because I already had so much cheese that day and I was so surprised how great it was! The tofu really took on a similar taste and texture of the paneer I typically get! Also, if you like samosas but want to try an amped up version, try the samosa chat! Many places do offer this, so I was excited to see it and have it again. See my pic of it! The food is great here and it will be a place I go to often that is for sure."

Sadly I don't often find myself in boulder anymore so when my husband suggested meeting me for lunch here last week it was a no brainer. The food here really is phenomenal! Menu is small which allows them to really perfect the options they offer. Great value as you get a ton of naan, a lot of rice, a huge portion of whatever you select and a crispy onion app. They also recently just started allowing you to choose two options which is even better. I love getting a meat and veggie so this was perfection. I really love Curry n Kebab and should make a point of driving up to boulder more often so I can keep supporting them. We've also gotten the saag paneer, samosas, naan and paratha. They are always generous with the rice (packed to the brim, open the box over a bowl so the rice doesn't spill out!) I saw the sign for a lunch buffet as I was driving past, and I am for sure a sucker for a $9.99 Indian buffet. This placed opened a month ago and the staff are super friendly and attentive. The place is immaculately clean and they were putting up decorations while we were there.I went for the buffet and my favorites were the Chicken Tikka Masala, Gobi Manchurian and Samosas. The samosas were paired with a tamarind and green chutney that were both well made. The Gobi Manchurian is a somewhat fusion dish. As it was on a buffet heated by steam it was not as crunchy as it should be ideally but the flavor profile was on point. The Chicken Tikka Masala was the perfect blend of heavy cream, chicken, tomatoes and spices. I would for sure order this off the menu during non-buffet hours. Some of the other buffet items were Naan (made well but not the ideal texture in the buffet format), Chicken Kadai, Saffron and plain rice, chickpeas and spinach with paneer. They seem to have a lot of drink specials and great outdoor seating so I imagine this restaurant will be a destination during the summer. It pretty cool in that they have an area of the patio dedicated to dog friendly seating."

Ed L. "I discovered the Himalayan Spice Indian restaurant on a random Yelp search prior to arrival. It was a 4.8 star rating and close enough to a perfect score.Needless to say that I wanted to try this place. I placed a reservation prior to arrival, thinking that it would be busy. After arriving at the airport and taking an Uber to get to the restaurant, I found out that the restaurant was virtually empty with only 2 tables occupied on a Thursday morning. I arrived here around 11:35am. The ambiance was good and quiet. I decided to choose a spot that was a booth and near the entrance. Once I checked in on the Yelp app, I was given a 10% off offer from my check. I showed this to the server and he agreed I can used it. I probably spent about an hour here, ordering a bit more than I'm used to. I eventually boxed up the rest of what I couldn't finish and ended up having it for lunch the next day after microwaving it in the hotel room prior to check out. I ordered the lamb vindaloo, garlic cheese naan, tandoori chicken, and the tandoori chicken wings. I decided to have water for the drink. As far as I know, I boxed up part of the garlic cheese naan and the entire portion of the tandoori chicken for lunch the next day. For the most part though, the experience here at the Himalayan Spice Indian restaurant was nice and casual. While it wasn't the best, it was certainly high and great expectations were already given. Food was delicious of course, but not as 5 stars as many people claim. Still delicious though. The overall experience here at the Himalayan Spice Indian restaurant - Denver was good and definitely a must do. While the prices here were typical of many Indian restaurants that I've frequented over the years, it's the quality and the flavors that are most important in this instance. I enjoyed the tandoori chicken wings first before the basmati rice with the lamb vindaloo arrived. I'm not sure but the tandoori chicken wings tasted like regular chicken wings with barbecue sauce (and other seasonings) on it. It was delicious but that's how I viewed it. The lamb vindaloo was good as I had it with the basmati rice and the garlic naan. It was a perfect mixture of sinful goodness, comfort food, and very good deliciousness that could not be compared. While it was awesome and a welcome respite after 7 hr worth of flights on 2 aircraft, it was wonderful to see be here and to sample top notch Indian cuisine in the heart of Denver, Colorado. While it was certainly good and delicious, I'm not sure if it was the best but it was certainly above average for sure. Although having a nice almost empty restaurant to enjoy the ambiance does help also, but the food itself wasn't 5*. 4.5 sure. While Yelp doesn't have a half point rating system just yet, Its tough to give them a 4.0 or a 5.0 star, when it's in between that - at least for my experience. If you're looking for an Indian restaurant in Denver, consider coming here to the Himalayan Spice Indian restaurant. It's very good and the service was friendly. Himalayan Spice Indian restaurant is located at 1234 Thyssen Street in metro Denver, Colorado. They accept major credit cards as well as cash. As far as parking goes, there was limited parking here for the merchants here. Probably around maybe 15 or so parking stalls. Then there's street parking wherever you can find it in the local area nearby. I came by Uber from the airport that day, so there's that service if you decide on coming, although the prices from the airport for Uber was a little bit higher than I expected but maybe it's probably because of the Denver international airport. If you love public transportation, consider which routes are best for your situation and plan accordingly. Best bet is to head over to the Denver area public transportation website and see which routes are best suited for your trip here to Himalayan Spice Indian restaurant. The experience was enjoyable and it was nice to be not dining in a loud and busy restaurant. Need that down time to decompress from traveling.4.5 stars for the overall experience. 4.0 stars for the food and service. 5.0 stars for the ambiance. 3.0 stars for the prices.Support local!B+"

Rika M. "When I utilized this business a little while back, I really didn't have a great experience; it was mostly not so great service where the lady who assisted me had no friendliness in her facial expression or words she uttered. My daughter who recently got a takeout from here pretty much agreed with me when it came to service (although she absolutely enjoyed the food itself.) I, however, believe in giving people or businesses a second chance so I went here just the other night to get myself a quick dinner (to which my daughter accompanied me.) To my surprise, I had a much better experience this time. The male worker upfront immediately greeted us upon arrival; he was polite with professionalism. He didn't rush me in any way; he patiently waited until I knew what I wanted. Once I had told him what I wanted he immediately transacted the order to which I settled the tab. While I was waiting for my food, I took the time to look around the restaurant to notice everything inside the it. The restaurant was very clean. The long/skinny layout of it is somewhat modern. It also has a good size patio seating. All the way back to the end (east side of it) there is a party area/room. It appears it can possibly hold 30-40 people. There was a customer who dines here on a regular basis (he also identified himself a friend to the business owner) and he friendlily spoke to us as he noticed us when walked in. He was sort of acting like the spokesperson of the restaurant and he said to talk to the manager if we had any questions or problems with anything with this place as the manager/owner truly cares about their customers' needs and satisfaction. What a nice guys!! After 10-15 minutes, my food was finally ready. At home, I immediately started my meal. Let's get to the main topic of this review: the food!!!Vegetable samosas: my daughter made a recommendation on this. When it comes to samosas I like chunky/dense ones. This restaurant makes their samosas thin. They tasted good but I still like my samosas made chunky stuffed with all kinds of ingredients with more density. These are 7 out of 10.Kari Pakora: Lemony curry with a good amount of kick (its spiciness is quite noticeable.) Unlike other typical curries, this one is not as heavily stewed so the texture is closely resembling to soups (more like) so in that sense, it's a light curry. I've never had a curry like this and I dig this very much; 8.5 out of 10 (the rice that accompanied the curry had a lot of saffron in it. In a way, I like my rice more plain so that it's not too overpowering to kill the flavors of the curry. It wasn't bad though!)To conclude my experience this time, it was quite good; 8 out of 10 for everything I had experienced. This place definitely made the list of my favorite Indian restaurants in Denver for sure."
