Demeris Bar-B-Q - Shepherd

All around, this is pretty good barbecue. We stopped by for dinner on a Friday evening around 6pm. There was only one other set of diners when we arrived. We quickly ordered a brisket burger with two sides to share (mac & cheese and green beans). Our food came out very quickly! We happily dug into the sandwich, and weren't very hungry so we split it. If you're coming here with a big appetite, you should probably order a whole sandwich for yourself. The barbecue sauce was great and I felt that they put a decent amount of meat in the sandwich. The mac and cheese was deliciously creamy, and I enjoyed the green beans as well.A few more patrons entered as we left, so I am guessing they get a bit busier later in the evening. I might come back here if I'm in the area, though there are a few Houston barbecue places I'd prefer.

Best peach cobbler! Also love their ribs and brisket! We were able to order to celebrate the holidays and staff is friendly especially drive-thru :)

Venerable family owned and operated Houston BBQ institution Demeris BBQ deserves love and patronage for the many decades of consistently tender and delicious slow smoked BBQ that is served. The brisket and pulled pork are savory and tender, and are offered on a plate, in a sandwich, on a salad, or stuffed in a baked potato. Order at the counter after reading the large and legible menu board, and the cashier shouts your order to the kitchen crew. By the time you have paid the cashier, your order is ready to carry to your table or to take to go. The never ending pandemic has hurt the volume of business, which has been further battered by ongoing road construction on Shepherd. A meal from Demeris BBQ is well worth the time and effort to slog through construction traffic.

I've lived in Houston, TX all of my life (53 years), 9 years ago I moved out to the Katy\ Cypress area. I recently went back to my old stomping grounds and was looking for something good and hearty to eat and saw Demeris Bar-B-Q.It's been at least 30 years since I've been here, but I'm very pleased to report that the quality of their food, the friendly service and the cleanliness of their establishment has not changed. I was greeted with kind friendly faces and the food I ordered was ready very quickly- granted it was not busy, still it came out hot and fresh.Ok the dish, I ordered the brisket taco's and OMG! they were fantastic! The taco shells were crispy and light with an amazing taste, and the brisket was very flavorful and all of the condiments tasted fresh and were also delicious!I also ordered a loaded potato, an IBC root beer and (I'm from Texas) of course pecan pie. All of it was just great! The manager was very friendly and made sure I was well taken care of.Demeris Bar-B-Q is a staple establishment in Houston, TX and they deserve my praise and I'm happy to give it to them, thank you!If you're a barbeque lover like me and you appreciate good service, food and a comfortable atmosphere- head on over to Demeris Bar-B-Q now!

Okay, hear me out.Demeris BBQ has a really good deal! We went to try it out and it did not disappoint. Service was great and helped us out pretty fast!The restaurant is pretty old, but I feel like this adds to the value! A place that's been running for a while is a good restaurant in my books.I got the combo with 2 meats and 2 sides (which was under 20 dollars). Brisket and sausage is what I always go for and I got macaroni and rice.Truly was good food that was comforting!

I work in close proximity to this restaurant, so my doctor bought us food from here to try. I was highly dissatisfied with the food and I was not the only one. I tried the chopped brisket baked potato. The meat had no flavor and neither did the sauce they were also stingy with the toppings there was barely any Cheese or chives but they do give you a packet of sour cream at least. I didn't even finish it my meal I ended up throwing it away. I don't know how they're so highly rated. Maybe we came on a bad day.

The pork ribs were the perfect balance of flavor, seasoning and tenderness. I didn'tcare for the sauce BUT I haven't found any BBQ sauce that I like/love in Houston YET.I took my food to-go but there are plenty of tables and TV's to watch Games with friends The service was refreshingly "energetic" . I don't know about you but recently most restaurant servers can be polite and professional while being numb and robotic. Over worked underpaid employees that work with the PUBLIC have my empathy. Please remember to be kind to people, FIRST, everyone is going through SOMETHING. You never know if you could save someone's life just by being kind. The menu was extensive so lots more to try!I would recommend it to friends.

Omg= OH My Goodness everything was very fresh& delicious being from New Orleans l have very critical taste buds, the smoked wings 5* the Mac & cheese creamy the ribs melts in your mouth.Two Dinner Plates with 2 sides for 30$. Friendly ( Regina& back kitchen)and professional. I will be getting my BQ from here only.

Brisket was super dry and the bbq sauce wasn't even tangy. The Mac and cheese had no flavor

The food at this barbecue restaurant was really good, but I was disappointed in the portion sizes. My wife and I shared a three meat platter with two sides, but it seems the sides were very small. The buckets of beer only had five, I am used to buckets having six. Fortunately, the beer was not all that outrageously priced. We were a collection of mostly blind, and visually impaired patrons, three of which were in wheelchairs. There were a couple of sided individuals in our party. Knowing that it was a counter purchase of our food, I wish there could've been a little extra attention paid to the table for those of us who could not get to the counter.
