Wonderful food, staff and an adorable ambience who could ask for more.Coffee is outstanding especially when you're on the move

Sat down to a sticky table w rubbish from last guest. Just missed breakfast and server was nice enough to try and get our order in before "chef" shut down but unfortunately we were denied breakfast. Sadly! Drove from Shiner to try it out. Wife got a lunch selection which finally took 19 minutes to get to the table w no other guests but us at 11:43. Fries were cold and soso tough to bite through sandwich was steamy hot. Not sure how both could be such polar opposites. Great music, beautiful decor and well done menu but no soul no over the top service and only a fizzle of a vibe that you'll have to bring w you. What a let down. You can't be hot or miss when you're a destination point!

Delicious! Friendly staff and cute atmosphere. Love the story and the fact the owner is an Aggie! Definitely worth the stop for those that are not local.

My wife and I are from out of state and Darlin's was recommended by a family member. It's a quaint little place located in a late 19th century building. We were treated to one of the best breakfast selections around. Excellent taste and very generous portions are definitely the norm. My Latte and my wife's chai were a welcomed addition to our perfect breakfast. We would highly recommend Darlin's to folks just passing through and especially you folks from that part of Texas.

Decent fare at a fair price. "We're only serving breakfast today," our waitress explained at noon. That was unexpected, as we'd already reviewed the menu they'd handed us and picked out the lunch items we wanted. We weren't greeted when we arrived. We were eventually told to sit anywhere, but weren't told who would be waiting on us. After awhile, a lady approached from behind the counter, took the order of the people who'd come in after us, then walked away. Soon after, someone sweeping the floors saw my hand up and came by to take our order. The food arrived quickly enough. My eggs benedict ("eggs benny") was tasty enough, though the eggs are over easy, not poached. Still, they were not overcooked and it worked. The hashbrows were tastey enough that I left the ketchup untouched. My dad's taco was pretty bland. It's hard to miss with an egg, cheese and bacon, taco but he says it was a miss. And they didn't bring a side of salsa or anything. Still, it doesn't bill itself as a Mexican restaurant and that's not likely their specialty. And it was pretty inexpensive. It's a nice location, and they're popular enough to fill the place on Sunday. Seems like a regular spot for the locals. They must be doing something right.

Always excellent. I always stop there on the way to san antonio. Food and COFFEE are always very good. Staff is always very nice!!Great historic building and there is cool train museum next door.

Just what you would want in a quaint, clean, quick diner. Great food. Great atmosphere. Perfect mid-way stop between San Antonio and Houston.

I don't typically write reviews. But the service was beyond slow and they got several orders wrong.One of the food orders had to be fixed 3 times. No one came to ask us for refills and anything we did need it took 20+ mins to get it. even just something simple like ketchup. The food took an hour and 20 mins to arrive. After bring this to their attention, we received dirty looks from all the staff for the rest of the vist. We were not the only ones feeling this in the restaurant, we watched a large table get up and leave before their food arrived because of the lack of attention from the servicer and how long everything took.

The ambience at Darlin's is adorable and inviting, however the food was quite expensive for the quality and amount. We were there a while ago and my husband ordered a side of toast to go with his country fried steak and eggs and he received one piece for $4.00 of store bought bread tossed in top of the rest of the order which came on a very small plate- very crowded. The service was very good and the building itself fit's the name as it is darling!
