In town on business and tried this old school family Italian restaurant. Dining room was spacious with a pleasant vibe. Complimentary bread service with a garlic / herb oil that is some of the best I've ever had. The menu listed the spaghetti and meatballs as the best in Philly. It was a large portion with oversized juicy meatballs. . Sauce was good but not the best. Looked like plenty of entree choices I would have liked to try. Definitely happy with my choice to try D'Angelo's.

D'Angelo's has been on my radar for a lot of years, so I was excited to be able to meet a friend at the bar for a meal there. We were able to sample plenty of food been the two of us. I always start a review of an Italian restaurant with the meatballs. The meatballs here are large and juicy and delicious. The meatball appetizer let me know I was in for a good meal. There is a bread service, like at most Italian restaurants. Standard bread and oil. The calamari was another delicious appetizer. We even had grapes to share, which i don't think was on the menu. For my entree, I had veal with cheese and broccoli rabe. The veal was succulent thin slices. A little bit too much broccoli rabe, so I had to push some of it to the side. I was also able to try my friend's pasta dish, which was outstanding. I took home the leftovers and ate it the next day. For dessert, we had the tiramisu and cheese cake. The tiramisu was the perfect sweet boozy end to my meal. The cheesecake was good, but not as good as the tiramisu. The bartender was great as well, making perfectly mixed drinks. The server was knowledgeable and friendly. No wonder D'Angelo's has been around so long. They deliver a five-star meal!

Vegetarian perspectiveVery old school Italian place, and you can tell some people have been coming here for decades. But young people sprinkled in too. Not particularly my vibe, but nonetheless good amount of seating and very friendly staff so it was nice. The table bread was dry, and there weren't many vegetarian options. It's an old school place with old school menu, so I wasn't super surprised though. However, I got the asparagus pasta in pink cream sauce and it was good.

OMG.O. M. G.O.M.G.Do food orgasms come with red sauce?* * *Red sauce Italian has a justifiably bad name in many parts of the country. In Philly, Red Sauce Italian is not only good - its' wonderful.Of course, not every Philly Italian restaurant will sell you great Italian Red Sauce Cuisine.Tourist traps abound. But D'Angelo's is the real deal.* * *Rule Number One of Great Red Sauce Restaurants:You don't absolutely have to order red sauce.I had ziti for a side dish, and that comes with red sauce. The red sauce here is completely wonderful. But that's not all they got.* * *There may be other rules of Great Red Sauce Restaurants but I don't know what they are.* * *What I do know is this ...a) Their antipasto comes with enough vinaigrette on top to make it count as a salad.I was in love. The cold cuts and cheese weren't that great - but miraculous olives made everything worthwhile. And yeah, I could kill for the tuna.b) D'Angelo's has great great veal.Do you know how hard it is to get good veal in the United States?I come from Texas. What we call veal in the State of Texas is considered to be legally unfit for human consumption in thirty eight states of the Union plus the District of Colombia. The basic butter, lemon and wine sauce they put on top of veal at D'Angelo's is pure paradise. And so are the peppers and onions on top of that.I died and went to heaven.c) I am sure that many of the desserts at D'Angelo are great. But I can't see ordering anything other than their cannoli. And yes, I come from Texas. What they call cannoli in the State of Texas etc. etc. etc.Once again, I died and went to heaven.* * *(Yeah, yeah, yeah, I died and went to Heaven a number of times that night.Hey, I'm Buddhist. We reincarnate fast.)* * *Overall, a totally amazing place. It made me fall in love with American Italian all over again.

Wow wow wow. Three wow's for a dope experience at D'angelos. We were seated right away, and we're greeted by a great waiter. Had a our wine and appetizers in within 15 minutes. Great service all around. What we snagged:-Amazing bruschetta (Highly recommend. Comes with warmed mozz)-D'Angelo Salad (VERY savory dressing)-Chicken Parm-Veal Park-Veal Milanese -Clams in LinguiniEach dinner was completely cleaned off their plate. The dishes were HOT and ready to eat when served. That's what we like to see. We also snagged a great bottle of Pinto Nior from Santa Barbara. Perfect paring with all the great dishes. We'll be back 100% and you should stop reading this review now and make a reservation.

1 year later, different pasta to try! The perk of D'Angelo is D'Angelo himself and the staff. They make you feel like modern royalty and D'Angelo even serenades you while you eat! Would recommend for the hospitality itself. The pasta is average with a run of the mill tomato sauce. But still good. Ambiance is perfect for a romantic dinner or catch up with friends. Not loud at all!

Sweet family Italian place in West Rittenhouse.Seating outside is shady and quiet. I chose the bar area because I was alone and just wanted to eat. Their salad dressing is wonderful-a crisp, not too sweet, Italian.

This is the second time that we have been to this restaurant-both times with a large group; everyone had a fabulous meal. Great traditional Italian meals. The staff were gracious and attentive and couldn't be more kind. Everyone looked like they really enjoyed being there, and serving their guests (even with a song or two)- job well done!

Old school excellence. Fresh vegetables, best broccolini ever. Homemade ravioli just the way it should be and fresh fish. Good wine at fair prices. Friendly service and a homey atmosphere. We loved it!
