We came here around noon on a weekend and that was a mistake. It opened at 10:30 am and it was packed. I guess if you want to have minimal waiting then try to get there when it opens. After we got seated, we looked at the menus and placed our order. It didn't take long for us to start receiving food and we ordered a lot. Everything is bigger in Texas is a true statement. The portions were a lot bigger than the ones back in Chicago. The menu had a vast selection. Prices were reasonable for the size of the food. Ample parking available.-sauteed mussels - 5-Chinese broccoli with oyster sauce - 5-seafood congee - 5-egg tart - 5-baked bbq pork puff - 4-pan fried turnip cake - 5-pan fried taro cake - 5-deep fried shrimp and pork puff - 5-steamed shrimp and pork dumpling (siu mai) - 5-steamed rice noodle with shrimp - 5-chicken feet - 3-steamed shrimp xiu mai - 5-steamed rice noodle with beef brisket - 5-steamed mushroom and chicken bun - 5-steamed rice noodle with beef - 5-pan fried potsticker - 5-steamed rice noodle with bbq pork - 5-pan fried stuffed bell pepper - 5-imitation shark fin dumplings - 3 - didn't taste like anything special-deep fried crab claw - 5-steamed shrimp dumpling - 5-bean curd pork roll - 5-steamed sesame cream bun - 5-steamed egg yolk cream bun - 5

I came here after they opened at 10:30am on a Sunday. After 11am-12pm, it starts to get busy and you will have to wait a bit before you get seated. I have come here a couple of times but some of the food I tried were okay; it was a hit or miss. I especially didn't like the steamed rice noodle with shrimp. The shrimp inside was definitely not their best and it left a pretty bad taste. The same goes for the shrimp in the Steamed Shrimp Dumpling. The chicken feet was a challenge; I preferred it to be more steamed and easier to eat. Both the shrimp and pork ingredients in the foods were just okay. Out of all the dishes, my favorite was the egg custard. It does take a while to get the staff attention but pretty understanding since it was busy. They do check and refill your drinks often.

Been coming to this restaurant since they opened, both for dim sum and for dinner as well. Both have not disappointed. The space is large and can definitely accommodate large parties. We've had 14 people somehow fit into a table, Hong Kong style. When they have it available, I do love the 菠萝流沙包 Baked Egg Yolk Cream Bun. Parking does get dicey if you get there later, especially on the weekends, so arrive early to avoid waits. Whether you want to get together with friends for dim sum or get together with extend family to celebrate birthdays/anniversaries/etc, Crown Seafood can take care of it.

I think this is my new favorite dim sum spot. It's spacious and clean, and I really like the service here. The wait varies of course depending on time and day. We got there around 11am on a Sunday and it was about a 15 mins wait. Once we got our wait number, we went ahead and grabbed a menu and our dim sum ordering sheet. Makes everything go faster once we get seated and just hand our order sheet to the server. Our food came out at a decent rate, and our beverages were consistently refilled. I really appreciated this as it's really difficult to wave anyone down in a busy Asian restaurant for drink refills. Some dishes were just okay, but for the most part I really did enjoy the bbq pork banh cuon, pork's blood, steam custard buns, fried taro, and the xíu mai. I most definitely enjoyed this place better than Kim Son and Ocean's Palace dim sum.

Got there at opening and there were already a lot of people inside eating! By the time I finished eating, there was a big crowd waiting, so I definitely recommend coming right at opening. Some of the items are a little bland, but you can always fix that with some chili oil and soy sauce. What they lack in seasoning, they make up with it in portion size. I feel like the size of the items are bigger than other dimsum places. My favorites of the dishes I ate were the five spices beef tripe (66), baked egg steam bun (73) and deep fried crab claw (37).

Between all the heavy hitters in the dim sum scene in H-Town, Crown Seafood is often mentioned as the local's choice for its massive banquet dining hall and old school push carts (weekend only) showcasing a solid variety of items. I don't mind coming here, but I've yet to be impressed with the food. For me, it's a 3 star spot until further notice. With high ceilings, bright lights, and the dizzying array of round tables, it's easy to see why this is a preferred option for big groups. Every day there's a decent crowd, but the waits tend to be more of a thing on the weekends. Bathrooms are not great, so approach with caution. The novelty of push cart dim sum is a bigger thing in the west than it is in a place like Hong Kong. Back in the motherland, the idea of food sitting out on cart for X amount of time has become unappealing, thus many restaurants have opted for the a la carte / check box on paper menu format instead. I think the former applies in this scenario as some of the items just feel like they've been sitting out a little too long. There are some decent items that solid in a pinch. Namely the very plump shrimp siu mai (蝦燒賣), lotus leaf glutinous rice (糯米雞), a crunchy glutinous fried pork dumpling (鹹水角), and a very hearty sweet cream bun (奶黃包). The rest has either a little too much breading (bbq pork bun), or overly thick skin (such as the shrimp dumplings), or is very plain (egg tarts).I will say their dinner service is more optimal for me, since their platters are huge and the noodles, vegetables (especially the stir fried pea shoots), and steamed fish / lobster preparation gets an A for effort. The only downside is that they're closed by 8pm practically every night. Prices aren't as high as their nearby competition, but the other places usually have better service and ambiance. Crown's service can be a flop at times when it comes to being tended to, but it's likely they're just simply understaffed. Speaking Cantonese is not necessarily a guarantee here either, but seeing as every person on the wait staff speaks something, be it Mandarin or Vietnamese or English, it's usually enough to appease the many folks coming here on the daily.

Crown Seafood has been a Bellaire family style staple for seafood, dim sum, and all the Asian favorites in between. The huge dining room is way bigger inside than it seems from the outside. I wouldn't call this place the cleanest looking restaurant, but at least it's great for big parties. Think of your hole in the wall type restaurant with authentic food, but on a larger scale. The service is quick here just because they serve so many people. Almost too quick like it seems like they are rushing you to order, but it honestly didn't bother us. Food wise, come hungry and try everything. Our favorites were:Crab meat fish maw soupPeking duckHoney walnut shrimpGinger scallion lobsterSalt toasted squidSnow pea leaves w/ garlic sauceEggplant w/ garlic sauceChef special crispy noodleOverall, the food is pretty good here. Just know that if you come on the weekends, expect a little wait just because of how busy they get, especially for dim sum. Enjoy!

We were thoroughly impressed with the delicious and flavorful food we ordered. The green beans were delicately glazed in a delicious garlic sauce, while the shrimp and basil dish boasted plenty of large, succulent shrimp--a truly fantastic and tasty combination. Additionally, the riblets we ordered were juicy and delicious. It's rare to find a place where every item ordered is so enjoyable. The service provided by Helen was excellent--she was very sweet. With plenty of tables, it's a great spot for hosting big parties!

Fear not, anyone who speaks less-than-impressive Chinese. There is an adequate pointee-talkee with a numerical alignment, which is the successful universal language for ordering food. Everything was hot and tasty. Dumplings were not skimpy-filled. Not much else to say except I'll be back. It was delicious.Be aware, if you're trying to go there on the weekend, this is the Asian-family equivalent of brunch and mimosas with the girls. Time it right, or you'll be waiting!

I was coming back into town from a weekend to the beach with family deciding where to eat?Ultimately we decided to go with Dim Sum and chosen to visit Crown Seafood Restaurant. Believe it or not, I am aware where the location is but have never ate there but around the area both in the plaza and across the street. We were fortunate to come in when the weekend rush for dim sum was slowing down. Walking into the restaurant, the dinning area is large, wide, many tables with seating. My family did the ordering and picked items like the taro puffs, siu mai, beef tripe, sticky rice, beef rice rolls, and especially the chicken feet. The food was good as well. I have not come across a bad dim sum restaurant in Houston. Crown does have a nice condensed menu for dim sum but also a full menu. The service was fast and attentive. It did not take very long for most of the food to arrive at the table. But I know the staff are constantly busy and moving. And I did appreciate the importance of cleanliness especially from the food runners by wearing gloves. Overall I wished I had eaten at Crown seafood all these years. But Houston's Chinatown is abundant of many restaurants especially Chinese cuisine. I would have given the experience a 4.5 out of 5 because of the 2 orders of shrimp Siu Mai were overlooked and were brought towards the end when we were about to pay the bill. Also the restroom temperature was freezing cold. Otherwise no major concerns so I give it the benefit of the doubt. Sure I would like to come back. Very appropriate for family and large groups.
