I love a good old school diner. Very few of them are left in Philly. This one has been around a long time! It's a great location in NE Philly. It's clean, has a big parking lot, lots of seating and a bakery. The diner staff greets and seats you. Our waitress was very nice and fine with making adjustments to our order, lol like adding fries! The food is very good. The French toast had a custard texture and was studded with lots of raisins. Plain is also available. The Sammie was a special order-a BLT with an added egg. That way you also get the lettuce and tomato! We also added fries. Everything came out hot. There is no rush to be done. We sat for awhile chatting with refills on coffee and tea.

Went here for a late lunch with a friend on a Sunday. It was quiet with a few scattered guests. I ordered here before thus I knew the food was decent, but in person was even better. We were seated quickly. The place was clean, and the service was friendly and efficient but did not rush. I had a breakfast combo. It was tasty, especially the bacon and link sausages. I also had an order of cheese fries which were perfectly crip.and the cheese was super yellow but didn't taste fake. My friend th French Dip Au jus which he said was tasty and fresh. My only con was that the place does look a little outdated, but walls seem like they started a renovation and then stopped. Overall, the Country Club Diner is definitely worth a meal if you are in the area. I'll stop in again.

Great place to bring you back to when you were younger - great place to sit together with friends and chat. My friends enjoyed their French Toast, and I enjoyed my BLT with a fried egg added. Our waitress was very nice and attentive. Love how we never felt rushed and we stayed and gabbed forever. Check them out!

Rainy Sunday morning, quiet due to the upcoming Eagles game this afternoon, I sat alone at the counter. Service was slow as the server refused to acknowledge my presence as she chatted with a friend/customer nearby. When I made eye contact with the owner/manager, she came over to provide a menu and ask for my drink order. Things started to move as the wait person dropped off my coffee (creamers rather than requested milk), and accepted my choice for a Country Omelet. It was pretty good, with onions, tomatoes, green peppers and breakfast sausage inside the shell, a side of hash browns and rye toast. The omelet was moist and filling, the hash browns crisp and crunchy, while the toast was not quite hot enough and likely sitting for a few minutes before the rest was done. Overall, decent dish. Country Club is a misnomer for this diner. Monochromatically a dull beige throughout, and lacking much wall decor nor background music, I couldn't escape the impression of chilliness and unspoken sadness permeating the space. Not sure of the cause, but more smiles and positive energy would certainly help.

It has been years since we have been to the Country Club Diner, but we decided to stop in for a quick meal. The parking lot was absolutely empty which we thought was strange since it was close to 5 p.m. Not much has changed with the diner's interior ~ it was sad to see it looking so tired and outdated. My order was breakfast with eggs, potatoes, toast, bacon ~ all were very bland, the butter made the toast uneatable (was it old? sitting out too long?). My husband had a turkey sandwich which was very fresh, and made exactly as ordered. Our server was super friendly as was the lovely hostess who seated us.

Like a beloved grandparent who was a powerhouse in the past but is now totally senile, the once-famous Country Club diner now well matches the horrid neighborhood the area has become. The food is...well...awful. One of my dining group refuses to go there at all. Also, one person who works there is very young and very miserable. She should go away, we'd all be happier.Three visits ago, we did take-out. It was irritating but, things happen. They forgot my coleslaw for my turkey dinner. That was one of my two vegetable choices! Oh well. Two visits ago, take-out again, turkey dinner again, they forgot my damn coleslaw again. But that was secondary compared to what my meal consisted of. My turkey platter was, instead of baked turkey, are you kidding me, sliced deli, lunch turkey, and not high quality deli turkey. It was vile. One visit ago, we ate in. We each got paninis. You know what a panini is, right? Crunchy, grilled, Italian bread pressed under weight to crush the filling into something juicy and nice. Well, the kitchen has never heard of a panini. We got insubstantial, cold rolls holding the hot fillings, which were there if you looked carefully for them but "plentiful" certainly does not describe what we found. "Minimal" does.I've heard stories from older friends for whom The Country Club was a mainstay of their younger years. But the new ownership of the last 10 years or whatever it's been has no clue and doesn't want one. Eventually, this place will close and no one will care.

Been here 2x's in the past 2 weeks. Both times the restaurant was clean and well kept. Our waitresses both times were nice and friendly. Food came quickly and was hot and delicious. They have the best cheese for fries. We found our new favorite place.

Had my grandkids for the weekend which is always fun. Since I didn't have any OJ on hand (hey, I thought that was a pretty good excuse!) we ordered from Country Club. What a happy accident. I swear, it was THE best french toast I've ever had and I really have made my share! I've made it with challah, regular white and with brioche but nothing compared with this. Sweet but not too sweet. Even the bacon that the kids ordered was awesome. We will definitely be looking at the rest of the menu more often!

Some bad reviews here, I'm able to give a good one. Had the chickendeluxe sandwich today, it was very nicely prepared and delicious. Please get better hand towels for the rest rooms - the brand you use is like tissue paper. Use the brand that Tiffany has.You used to have the best tea biscuits in the City. I hope you will try bringing them back - if only a small quantity on selected days.
