"Surprised as we knew this was a chain and not your mom pop authentic Mexican. Came for happy hour and grabbed a seat (3-6) at the bar. Drinks are strong (no complaints here!)Orderedd off the HH menu and the catfish beignets did not disappoint! Flakey, perfect crust that isn't too thick! Gringo tacos...suits the name. Queso is a great started, smokey flavors!"
"My coworkers love to get tacos from here for the office, and they are delicious every time. I came to visit the restaurant today for the 1st time in person, and the service was pretty fast. Waitress was very attentive, and customer service was superb. Food came out fast, and my tacos were as delicious as they always are. I usually order bean and cheese and the papa con chorizo. If you order some breakfast items after 11 a.m., there is an additional charge. They provide small cups of vanilla to add to your coffee, and it sweetens it perfectly. Ask for the vanilla cups if you don't automatically get them with your coffee. The salsa for the chips had the perfect spice to it, and I could not put them down. It unfortunately ruined my appetite for my actual meal, lol"

"Meh...just an average experience. I was quickly greeted and seated. The wait staff was initially quick and then seemed to just disappear. I ordered the Caribbean salad with shrimp. The taste was great but some of the lettuce was past the point of tired. It looks like they mixed a bit of fresh green with some that were old. While you hope that there is some consistency at locations, it just doesn't happen. There are not a lot of choices in the area so I'm guessing I'll probably return."
"My husband & I ordered to go & the Piccadillo puffy tacos plate weighed about 7 lbs. they were pretty tasty.. the rice was not to my liking but the plate overall was good, we also ordered Lengua guisada & I must say I've never had anything like it, it was so tender & the flavor was on point, a little overpriced but the location says it all. Next time we'll dine in."
"This place is fantastic. It is on the outskirts of town, so I am not sure how much business they get, but I hope this helps them out because I want to make sure they are there next time I come to Victoria. The service was fantastic. Very friendly. The lady recommended something from there specials menu. Had no idea what it was but took a chance. It was something and pork (see picture). Mostly vegetables. Now, normally I would not do vegi, it would need to be meat; but this was awesome. Secondly, they make their own tortillas, flour and CORN. Worth the trip just to sit and eat the corn tortillas. The place open early for breakfast and they do a great lunch. Please...please keep them open."
"Really like their food. Get the Steak Fingers. They take the steak for Chicken Fried Steak cut it in to strips and THAT is you fingers. The Taiton Chicken is very good and you need to try the Pork Chops. Have not had a bad meal there. They have beer and a limited selection of wine. I prefer the Matagorda wine. Taiton is just a spot on Hiway 71 with a Catholic Church, a dance hall, a beer joint, and this cafe. If you find yourself going through Taiton I recommend you stop."
"Nice little hole in wall. We stopped here after dropping my son off at Texas State. Brisket quesadillas were on point. Good bbq sauce but need more of it. Good green chili ranch sauce. Fries were excellent! My son had pulled pork sandwich combo. Should be served with coleslaw and pickles and jalepenos on the sandwich. Quality of meat is great. Good smoke. They let you BYOB from liquor store next door, which I did. The folks were nice, service was good. My son will be going here often for good food at good price. He will like the brisket grilled cheese and brisket nachos... Check this place out next time you are in quaint San Marcos!"
"If you want good breakfast in Harlingen or Brownsville, head over to Chapitas. Best breakfast in Harlingen, periodMy wife and I have been to the Rio Grande valley many times and we always make it a point to stop at Chapitas for breakfast, either coming from or going to McAllen, TX. The portions they give you are copious, the food is authentic and the prices are very reasonable. The tortillas are home-made, the eggs are great and the pancakes are enormous. You will walk out of Chapitas fat and happy. The location is a little out of the way. It's just east of where Hwy 77 intersects with Hwy 83, just west of the airport, on the north sunshine strip. It is worth the trip, my friends. Visited March 2010"
"Had a great night here! We had a crawfish boil- the crawfish was great, and the fixings were so good! I've coke beer, great service- thank you Brewster for a great night!"
"This spot is legit! They offer all types of Porky Goodness. Chicharrones - CheckDeep Fried Ribs - Check Chicharrone Prensado - Check Gorditas - Check Gnarly Cuts - CheckDefinitely check this spot out if you're in the area, their Habanero salsa is great too. This is the Real Deal if you want Carnitas and Cracklins!"
"Stopped in here on our way from the coast to Austin. Loved it! Salsa was a bit different but delicious and the chips were crispy and fresh. Nachos were perfect - right amount of beans and cheese and a nice bowl of jalapeños. Puffy tacos and enchiladas were good (puffy tacos being the favorite). Finished with a sweet empanada. Restaurant was clean and very family oriented, restrooms were clean and well-stocked, and our server was fast and delightful. We'll stop again next beach trip."
"Food was yummy and they served good portions. Their barbacoa is some of the best I've ever tried. Fast, speedy service"

My wife and I were in a mood for something different and we never been to Z-Tejas before. We had heard some good word of mouth compliments for the service and food, so we decided why not. After it had first opened, l had read some mixed reviews from diners. Some were not favorable but others defended the restaurant, so l was a little leary and now wished I had listened to my instinct. The place was beautiful and the atmosphere was warm and delightful especially with the 2 open fire pits giving off a warm and inviting glow. Our waiter (sorry l forgot his name) met us at the door and promptly sat us. His mannerism was fantastic ( only reason l gave 2 stars) . He was very attentive but not pushy. He made suggestions for the beverages and appetizer. The tea was tasty, the Queso and chips were mediocre. The cheese was thick, clumpy and grainy. The adobo sauce was overly sweet. The cheese was burnt on top around the edges giving the overly concoction a bitter taste. The corn bread was hard (over cooked) cold. My wife ordered the grilled Salmon classic style (their words) and I had the Chicken Tinga Chili Renano. Like I said the waiter was very attentive constantly refilling our teas, so off the the men's room. After spending thousands on the creation of a great atmosphere, the restroom was under- whelming. The pipes looked cheep and not well installed showing signs of rust already and one of the wash basins had a broken water spigot being held up by a very dirty looking bottle of something. My wife's grilled salmon had very little flavor except for the flavor given off from a less than fresh piece of fish. My dish was also undesirable with the chicken being very sweet to point l couldn't taste chicken. The filling looked like chicken salad (overly blended with the pineapple, raisins and pecan). I could not distinguish any of the ingredients from the mush that comprised the filling. Well we tried something new, not really happy that we did, but the waiter made our visit pleasant, sorry I can't say the same for the food.

Doesn't look very impressive from the street but it's loaded with charm when you walk in the door. Cute rustic country charm with sport team & beer signs along with a galvanized wrapped bar. It was our first visit and we'll definitely be back when we are in the area. I had the lunch special of a steak finger basket and hubby had the CFS w/sides of green beans & mashed taters. No complaints and just had us wanting more. Everything was perfectly cooked and fresh. The special of the day was a taco bowl and by judging by the other tables, it was a popular choice. A friend recommended the hamburger but we'll try it next time. Great wait staff, and a friendly place.

Great hole in the wall barbecue place and the hungry man deal is at incredible value. Open somewhat late as well which is super convenient. The food is always incredible thought the sausage can be a bit inconsistent but suppliers do be like that though. Not worth losing a star for such a minor issue, and staff is always helpful when providing sauce/silverware/etc.

Excellent food here. We've came here each time we are in the valley. Our favorite is the Catfish strips meal. It comes with slaw, French fries and a drink for $6.99. The catfish is just delicious. We've eaten other things here too and it's all very good. The place is always busy. The waitresses are excellent, we really appreciate their good work.

"So I went here last weekend for breakfast, I've heard so many good things about here, so let's try. We were seated quickly, and our server was friendly, kind, the food was sooo good. My French toast was I believe the best French toast, hands down! I wasn't a fan of the hash browns they were gross bland, and they probably could've been cooked a little longer. When I got my order, he said they didn't have syrup for my French toast. That was a bit upsetting. When I ordered, I felt he should've told me they didn't have any.. he offered me honey or sugar-free syrup. I ended up turning around and asking someone for some syrup. They atmosphere itself was ok, it wasn't amazing and nice but it was basic and blah but it's good was good and service was good so, I was ok with that. And lastly the price was great! Very affordable"
"Let me say we went on a Friday around 7pm. I expected the place to be hopping and it wasn't really busy except at the bar area. We ordered a couple drinks and they were ok. Not amazing but not terrible. I found the salas to lack flavor. We ordered the chili con queso. It was ok. Not bad. It was melted cheese. Then we ordered the mini tacos and they came with very bland rice and beans that were ok. The tacos were ok. Overall, it wasn't bad, but it wasn't amazing. I expected a place called Casa Tequila to have a more extensive tequila selection."
"If you need to feed a lot of people, there is no better option than Red River's fajita packs. It's as if you cooked a ton of delicious Mexican food for your friends and family, except you didn't have to do any of the work. And in 45 minutes or so, juicy, flavorful meat (chicken and steak - both outstanding), onions and peppers, guacamole, salsa, queso, chips, the best beans, rice, incredible fresh flour tortillas and whatever else you want to add on just shows up at your door, ready to go. The price is right, the food is delicious, and you can add on Mexican butter. I don't know what makes the Mexican butter Mexican, or what you're meant to use it for, but we got it, and no one was sad. Also, if you don't finish it you can use it to dip crawfish later on, and it's the best."
"This place has some delicious tacos, I definitely will be back to try the breakfast tacos. Not much else to say other than they serve really good food for a reasonable price."
"Wife and I have visited this place last night amongst a few other times the beer is cold and usually cheaper than anywhere else the food is great service is really good cleanliness is usually a plus and deserts are fantastic"
"The environment is always very pleasant. I have visited several times and had different menu items. The service is always polite and gracious. My breakfast taco with bacon egg potato à la Mexicana is excellent. The migas plate is excellent. Unfortunately, today, I was unhappy with the pancake plate. The egg and bacon and hashbrowns that came with. It was fine, but the pancakes were not tasty at all. There was no flavor. It tasted like flour and water only. Overall I enjoy the restaurant. I just won't order pancakes anymore."
"This review is for my most recent visit to Julio's during a visit to Del Rio, trying to cure my husband's craving for tacos. We made it in before the lunch crowd, and were taken care of by a helpful, friendly young lady at the counter who answered my husband's questions about the different tacos he was interested in trying. My husband ordered three tacos to go, chicken fajita, guisado and brisket. Each plate came with a side of Julio's Corn Chips and small portion of salsa. The tacos came just as he requested, with the chicken fajita being his favorite. For someone not familiar with guisado, he was pleasantly surprised and enjoyed the ground beef and cheese. The brisket taco was a bit underwhelming. The tacos came in flour tortillas in case you're expecting hard shell tacos. The Julio's Corn Chips have been a family favorite for years but it's nice to know the food they offer is good too."
"After my dad recommended this place for tacos we ordered them for the whole family during Xmas break. I would check your order before leaving if you have any picky eaters, because one taco was incorrect. That said, the tortillas were soft and homemade. I really enjoyed my tacos and the service was very friendly. Will definitely go back!"
"Costa Mesa sent me a $10 certificate for my birthday this month! We will be going soon! Love the Mexican food! Employees are always polite and kind and welcoming. Ambiance is always enjoyable due to the employees!"
"We were not expecting this quality and variety from a small highway town "cafe"! Upscale ambiance and amazing flavor Mexican flair. It isn't a typical Mexican restaurant, but it isn't Tex-Mex either. Service was very attentive, prices were reasonable given the current inflation, and flavors were amazing. My husband wanted a gallon of the seafood enchilada sauce!"
"I've heard nothing but great things about this place but felt very let down when I came to check it out for myself.I asked for chips and salsa to calm my hangry 2 year old it took a good while to get them. I ordered a children's meal of the ground beef, rice and beans but they brought it on a plate - my son really needed the bowl to salvage as much of the food as possible while still giving him the ability ti eat independently. They asked if it was okay, and I said I needed the bowl - they never brought it out, which meant I couldn't enjoy my meal. My older son ordered a taco plate, and his food was cold. I brought it to the servers attention, and she took the plate back to microwave it - it came back insanely hot, so my son had to wait a while to eat it.I ordered a chalupa plate, and they brought me crispy tacos instead. They honestly just felt like doing their own thing that day and I haven't been back since. In my experience the service was not good, food was not good either. Probably won't ever return."
"Let me tell you!!! The chicharone with guac cup is THE BEST! I don't care what anybody says. I am a chicharone/cracklin snob...I don't like everybody's chicharone/cracklins. I'm originally from Louisiana...and chicharones and cracklins are the same thing except for the spice that we cajuns love. The carnitas tacos were so good y'all! They were seasoned perfectly. When I tell you I DEVOURED them tacos. My daughter had the enchilladas...she finished the whole plate off. My hubby had the torta but he had already dug in by the time I could try to get a pic. He loved it! The service was excellent. We got a waitress that didn't speak English which didn't work well for our little Spanish. So she went to get a young man to help get our order...He even sold us on the Horchata which was also very good. Our waitress came back multiple times to make sure our food was good and we didn't need anything else. Check them out y'all!"
"Great caldo de pollo (chicken soup). Very easy order and pick up. Very nice lady at window."
"We have eaten at AR's Cafe four times. The food is consistently flavorful, well cooked, and served with a smile. Their tortillas are extra big and delicious! The best thing about their tortillas is they use baking powder so the tortilla does not look raw or greasy!!!!! Also, the salsa is also flavorful and fresh. Next time you visit the area, you must stop by for breakfast."
"little disappointed in the changes they have made since the last time I was back in Corpus. The number of options for your burrito have shrunk, the flavors seem to have been toned down, even the sauces that were available by the soda dispenser have been removed. All in all, I think they have taken steps back towards the other national chains"
"Just ordered their green enchiladas for lunch! Hot dang, these are delicious. The best I've had in this area. I will be ordering them again. Thank you, Mary!"
"This was my first time eating at Toddle Inn and let me tell you! It was amazing! Mark the owner greeted us with open arms and told us what he recommend on the menu. Very great and genuine guy. They give chips, salsa and fideo before your meal. It was the best!. He gave us his famous churro waffle and it was delicious! If you're here you need to try it! Definitely recommend you stopping by."
"Came across this place On a whim and I am glad I did their breakfast tacos are really good I had their barbacoa and the meat is just great no fat which is how I like it. They open up early which is great for those early risers.i will definitely come back"
"Driving from Galveston to San Antonio we want a quick meal. If you want authentic Mexican you will find it here. This isn't a fancy chain, or anything upscale. Good food at a good price"
"My previous review from a few years ago still stands. Staff is still friendly, service is still timely, and the food is still flavorful!"
"We love the Jalisco. We go often as we live in Uvalde. I feel like it's more traditional Mexican food. They do not have queso which to me is TexMex. The Shrimp Quesadillas Diablo are my favorite and it sounds weird but I LOVE their refried beans. Highly recommend the Jalisco."
"We just moved to the area and are extremely happy to find a great local Mexican restaurant. We've tried most places in town and our whole family agrees this is the best! Great breakfast tacos and plates. Lunch and dinner menu is always on point. Staff is very friendly and attentive. It's a must try!!!"
"Always great food and drinks. Zero issues with the quality or portions of food but the service was lacking some. I didn't deduct any starts as I understand what restaurants are going thru to try to get staff hired and to show up but it was a little disappointing but again the food was great."
