Gee C. "I have not eaten at Subway for a while, but after being tired of super rich food at seafood and Italian restaurants, Subway in Port Aransas was a pleasure. Fresh ingredients, choice of bread, great service and easy pick up plus the price it made a food balance to otherwise overpriced food in Port Aransas. We picked up Subway for lunch each day while we stayed here and it was delicious each time."

Deb P. "Consistently good food and service. It's not fine dining by any means but I can always count on a good, solid, fresh, hot, tasty meal. The menu is limited which I think is a good thing. That way they can concentrate on cooking what they know and do best. I like the chicken fried steak, fried catfish, and the BBQ Poorboys but my favorite is the shrimp plate. The shrimp are fresh not Cisco. They are plump enough to actually bite through without a ton of breading. You know you are eating shrimp. My favorite sides are fried okra and potato salad. Their side salad is wilted some times. For dessert their homemade cake slices are good. They are tall but thin which is fine because they are so rich. With the sad state of shrimp in this town and seafood in general, Nolan's is actually the best there is. If I want excellent, have extra cash, and am up to a road trip, I go to King's Inn."

Adriane M. "We visited on a Sunday morning right at 11am to get the delicious looking Dino ribs!Boy! Did they come through with tasting even better than the picture looked! They were so meaty, juicy, tender, and fell right off the bone. The sausage was also very good, the meat was the perfect texture with a good snap on the skin. The chopped bbq sandwich was a hefty, full of meat sandwich with so much flavor. The sides were got were potato salad - it was so creamy and really good and the mac n cheese - I could have bathed in it, it was so good! Cheesy and creamy, not dry at all! Don't forget the banana pudding, you'll regret it! The owner was super nice and very friendly, as well as the woman taking our order. Overall- highly recommend, great experience! The weather was perfect to sit outside. Love that it's covered with plenty of parking and places to sit."

Jay Y. "Located in the historic 'downtown", Green Iguana is one of the few better dining places in the small town of Port Lavaca, but compared to other restaurants, it is nothing spectacular. The decors in Green Iguana is pretty cool! The whole interior is filled with old school decorations and antiques such as an old Coke machine that sold $0.25 per pop (Those must be the good ole days). Sadly, the food is nothing out of ordinary. I ordered shrimp po-boy for the last two visits and although they are pretty cheap ($8 including fries), the po-boy was just something I need to eat to hang out with people in the restaurant.Overall, the relaxed atmosphere and the nice decors make Green Iguana a great place for local residents to hang out with their friends. Other than that, it's nothing that you should go out of your way to dine."

Robert C. "Very disappointed with the food. I have ordered raw wagyu beef from Texas T before. Their raw meat products are great. So when I saw they had a store front on my way home and serving BBQ I was excited to try it. I knew it would be pricey, but hoped they would at least execute a good sliced beef sandwich. While the meat was tender it was almost cold, very little smoke flavor, no seasoning and there was very little meat as you can see in the photo. The lemonade that came with it was yellow water. I gave it two stars rather than one because at least while you are there you can get some good raw wagyu beef and cook it better at home."

Peter C. "Headed back home from Corpus Christi and looking for a quick lunch and a restaurant we haven't tried. Searched trusty Yelp for a recommendation and this place in old Edna popped up. Sounded good so we made the loop around to find it and I am really glad we did. The restaurant is very unassuming as a converted old filling station (almost expected to meet someone named Goober here..) it was a blessing that there were no fan belts or hoses on the walls or tires laying around just an adapted front drive through and demure entrance door. The inside is very basic small town tables and chairs with an old menu block letter sign and plastic wrapped specials list on the counter. Divey! I loved it. A nice lady took our order (two cheese burger baskets with fries) and the food came out pretty quickly. I was surprised how large and beautiful the burgers were presented. Large home style buns with a fat patty of excellent quality, lettuce, tomato and onion all fresh. The burgers were wrapped in paper like days gone by and the first bite sent me back to the days of my youth when people went out of their way in crafting good burgers. They have the taste of early Americana busting of juicy flavor. They really need to be wrapped in paper as they are just that juicy! The crinkle fries were cooked perfectly crunchy without being dry. The catchup was brought out from a cooler cold..(love the health and safety mindset) and alas my burger was gone before I realized I hadn't taken a picture! Sorry about that! I set my empty basket down and pulled more tip money out of my wallet to add to my previous tip when we paid at the counter. This was the best burger I've had really in decades. Not dripping in avocado-mango-salsa or blackened or covered in bacon or whatever, just an honest old school home run of a basic cheese burger. Love it ... or face the fact that everyone with any sense will know you don't know what a burger is supposed to taste like!!! Burger lady.. I will be back!! Next time to sample the awesome chili you told me about too!"

Megan K. "This is my favorite uptown lunch spot, hands down. They bake their own bread and have a huge variety of kolaches, strudel, etc, all of which is delicious. Their chicken salad is killer -- perfectly ground chicken, just the right amount of celery, pickle, etc, well-seasoned. Try it on their wheat bun. Totally worth the extra couple bucks over Subway. Actually, I can never manage to get away from Subway for less than 8 bucks, so Czech-Mex is totally comparable. Sandwich, chips or cookie, and an iced tea is around 6 bucks. Some things to note: (1) they only take cash and checks, no cards; (2) it gets packed at the noon hour, so come early or late or call your order in and take it to-go; (3) they have super cute decorated sugar cookies for every season & holiday you can imagine, which make great gifts."

The chicken fried steak must have been fried in the same grease as my mother's catfish. (My food had a fish taste to it.) Other than that, everything else was good. Thought the prices were a little high, but that's Bidenomics at work. Speaking of politics, I was very impressed with the restaurant's support of President Trump for President in 2024. Anyway, the service was just right. The only mix-up was not knowing to pay at the counter instead of at the table. I also enjoyed the indoor decor of the establishment. Mary R. "This is the worst Schlotzsky's I've ever been to, and I've been to quite a few. Their sandwiches and service at all other locations have been very good, but this one...ugh.We we're headed out of Corpus Christi, and I had a hankering for a hot cheese sandwich. This location is convenient to I-37 on the North end of the city, so we stopped here. I should have heeded the reviews. The girl at the cash register who took our order seemed to be new, because when I ordered a cheese sandwich with extra cheese, she seemed hesitant and confused. She had a pleasant demeanor, though. I told her it was the same thing as an original, but without the meat in it. I told her I wanted everything but onions and meat on it. This is not an unusual order and I've never had a problem at any other Schlotzsky's ordering an original cheese sandwich. She rang it up with a soda and a kid's pizza meal for my granddaughter. They gave us a number to put on our table and we sat down.We weren't sitting long when they brought our order out. That was good. My sandwich was an original with meat and hardly any cheese at all. No bueno. I immediately pointed this out to the woman who served us. She kind of hesitated, so I explained again that I requested no meat and had to tell her to take it back. She took it, but came back with a young guy who was either the manager or the cook. I had to explain it again to him that I wanted an original cheese with extra cheese minus onions. The young woman said they'll redo it and not charge me "this time" and walked of again with my sandwich. She was pretty frosty about it, as if I had deliberately ordered it wrong. Certainly no apology. Wow.In spite of the stupid dance, the sandwich was delicious. The bread was nice and spongy, not too hard on the edges. My granddaughter enjoyed her pizza, and my son liked his ginormous sandwich. The restaurant was pretty clean, so no complaints there. The bottom line is that we will likely not be back here again, because I really felt awkward about the whole thing. If you've never had Schlotzsky's before, please don't let a negative experience at this particular location put you off. This place is not typical of all the other Schlotzsky's I've been to."

We walked in and were greeted by Freddie himself. The whole place smelled like bacon. It was amazing already. "Y'all want me to cook you some breakfast?" Freddie asked. We said yes and within moments he presented us with one of the most delicious breakfast sandwiches I've ever had. White bread, American cheese, a fried egg and copious amounts of bacon. I could say that I was surprised to be served something so simply fantastic at a half restaurant/half convenience store in small town Texas but I wasn't surprised at all. I knew as soon as I walked in that Freddie would uphold his sign's promise of being the right place to go When You're Really Hungry. My friend and I blissfully ate our sandwiches, flipped through that morning's local paper (WHS ended up winning the previous night's football game- go Tigers!) and contemplated the merits of moving to Wharton (and trust me, the merits are many).Freddie had disappeared into the back so we didn't get to thank him before we left so Freddie, if you're reading this, thank you for making us feel so at home and thank you for existing to serve the hungry folks of Wharton and even out-of-towners like ourselves.
