"The food was amazing. The staff was friendly and helpful. They seem to be very family oriented. Definitely check out their ice cream shop next door."
"Inconsistent Experience--Great First Visit, but Disappointing ReturnWe visited twice in one week, and the experiences couldn't have been more different. Our first visit was easily 4/5 stars--the burger and fries were , perfectly cooked, and super satisfying.Unfortunately, our second visit was a major letdown. The multiple appetizers we ordered were soaked and soggy with grease, making them hard to enjoy. The fries, which were amazing the first time, were SUPER salty this time around--a complete 180 from what we had before. And the brisket egg rolls? Honestly, they shouldn't be a thing. The flavors just didn't work at all. It's a shame because we had high hopes after our first visit, but the inconsistency really stood out on the second trip."

"I've been going here since the glory days of the Hotrod Gang. I even used to work across Chaparral at Tom Foolery's. It's a shining example of what Corpus has to offer in terms of good times, good food, and awesome music. Really, this is an awesome venue. No place is perfect, especially when you've been going there for over a quarter century. Sure, I've had some concerns in the past. But, somehow the people at this place keep addressing them without making a big deal out of it. My wife and I usually go for daytime food and fun on the weekend, when there is consistently a solo performer from noon-4pm (Sat/Sun). Also, the open mic with Rick on Wednesdays is great. I know they have a trivia night (Drinks with Geeks) on Mondays. They also host a lot festivals, and they supplement the other festivals downtown. I've met some cool local musicians over the years and I highly recommend this family and dog friendly place. They do have indoor and outdoor seating, plenty of good food options (no u-peel-ems though), a full bar, and a wide selection of drafts (that changes with the seasons and availability). Here's some pics from spring break 2024. Pro tip: Get the surf burger (has beans, Fritos, and salsa). If you get the salad, have the house dressing (it's a Walnut dressing)"
"Always great home cooked food. Chicken fried steak is hand battered. Greaf wait service and always fresh food."
"I don't usually eat Texas barbecue but when in Texas I have to and let me tell you Black's Barbecue did not disappoint! We got the fatty beef brisket, jalapeno-cheese sausage and pork spare ribs to share. Everything was soo tender, juicy and just so good! For sides we got the potato salad, mac and cheese and cream corn. The sides went perfectly with the meat. I also love how you can grab your own onions, pickles and bread because I'm an onion girlie and need a whole lot haha. The workers were very welcoming and friendly and it's a big place with a nice and chill vibe. I know there's many barbecue places here in Texas but I think Black's Barbeque is definitely worth a try!"
"Came here as a result of seeing it on an episode of "The Day Tripper". Can only speak for the (to go) small pies since I didn't eat there. So far the strawberry rhubarb and Dutch apple were fantastic... heated at 350 degrees for 20+ minutes. Looking forward to trying the peach and cherry. UPDATE: The peach and cherry were excellent. I think my order of enjoyment was: strawberry rhubarb, cherry, apple, peach. Reasonable prices. Liked the ability to buy multiple small pies at $6 a piece instead of one big pie at $26. UPDATE: Upon arriving back to Dallas, I tried the strawberry rhubarb pie from USA TODAY's #5 Pie Shop in America (Grapevine, Texas). Texas Pie Company's crust is better but the #5's strawberry rhubarb filling was slightly better with slightly more sweet / tangy taste. If prices were similar, #5 spot would have just squeaked over as "the best" of the two but since their small pies are $17 and regular pies $45, Texas Pie Company has the edge. If only they were closer! The service was just "eh", probably judged a bit more harshly after seeing the engaging owner (Julie) on Daytripper who was no where to be found on my visit. Just folks (efficiently) going thru the motions. Nothing special. Great facade on the building exterior. Good addition to the city of Kyle."
"SAN MARCOS: Texas Bean & Brew House is an American-style restaurant that serves breakfast all-day, and also lunch and dinner. The breakfast tacos were great! There is a full cafe beverage menu and you can also get a beer on draft. Love it!Leashed dogs are allowed at the outdoor patio which is covered on top with heaters and also on their lawn with picnic tables. It is ok to bring your dog inside to order then server will bring your items outside."
"Great food, wonderful patio/meeting & play/green space for get togethers & fabulous staff!!! Party Room available & only 25% of what you'd get charged at Chicken & Pickle!!! Wow!!! Don't miss out on this great space at Hwy 151 near NW Loop 410. Huge area to hold any event or to just relax on any day! Check it out!!!"
"*no pics because I was too hungry to bother* We stopped by Sandwich de Paris (SDP) after a medical appointment and were pleasantly surprised with our experience. The cafe is located off of Louis Pasteur in the medical center area. There's plenty of parking, though the parking lot did seem crowded during the lunch hour when we went. It seems like employees no longer bother to greet customers these days, so the hearty welcome we received--complete with a detailed explanation of the menu and specials--was a nice change of pace. Throughout our visit, the employee taking care of the front of the house cleaned, bussed tables, and engaged everyone who walked in or out of the restaurant, asking everyone how they enjoyed their food. The same employee took our order and was still courteous, personable, and authentically engaging. You could tell he enjoyed being there and assisting customers. My husband ordered the Tribbiani wrap, which was their special, with butternut squash soup. He devoured the wrap (loaded with three types of deli meat) and the soup in record time. He did say that the butternut squash soup tasted more like chicken stock than anything, but it may have been an ingredient he couldn't identify. He enjoyed it regardless. I ordered the tsukemono sandwich with a side salad dressed with balsamic vinaigrette. The grilled sirloin was tossed in a soy marinade and was tender and juicy. The meat was topped with tomato, cilantro, pickled veggies, red onion and aioli on a soft baguette. I asked for an additional cup of pickled veggies because I felt the sandwich needed some acidity to balance the sweetness of the marinade on the meat and the aioli. I would love to see the option to add thinly sliced jalapeños or maybe a kimchi option (though I know I'm venturing into another cuisine with that suggestion). Maybe add some heat in the form of chili sauce or toss the pickled veggies in nuoc cham to stay true to the overall vibe of the sandwich. The balsamic vinaigrette on my salad was too thick and sweet for my preference. I would prefer a thinner vinaigrette with more balsamic. It leaned more towards a ranch or Caesar dressing thickness and less towards a vinaigrette consistency. This hearty lunch for two (with bottles of TopoChico and Fanta) was around $30 with a tip. I highly recommend SDP if you're in the area, and even if you're not in the area, I recommend swinging by to check out their food. In a day when customer service and good food in a clean establishment are few and far between, this gem needs to be appreciated and supported."
"Great local diner. Friendly staff. It's a small space, but it's a neighborhood diner so it's exactly what you'd expect. Delicious chicken and waffles."
"Best BBQ in New Braunfels area- A Must-Try!We moved to the area seven months ago, eager to experience authentic Texas BBQ. Unfortunately, our experiences have mostly been disappointing, with places often serving BBQ that's too salty, dry, overpriced, or lacking in seasoning. We tried the 5 top-rated BBQ joints in New Braunfels area, but none compared to Bare Bull BBQ.Bare Bull BBQ is a true smokehouse! From the moment you walk in, the aroma of wood fire sets the tone for an amazing meal. The atmosphere is family-friendly and welcoming. We ordered the three-meat sampler, which included brisket, burnt ends, and chicken, while my husband opted for the brisket sandwich. Every bite was delicious--the meat was juicy with perfect bark marks. The sides were equally impressive, and the meal was perfectly finished with their banana pudding. What's more, the prices are incredibly reasonable--half the cost of Black's BBQ. Bare Bull BBQ has definitely earned our business, and we will be back!Photos doesn't do any justice, just go try it!"
"LOVE this bbq. The brisket, the ribs, and most of the sides are on point. Pro tip: Jalapeño/cheddar sausage isn't on the menu but they serve it until they run out. Try the sweet potato side and the mac n cheese. while the mac is a little peppery it's delicious."

Location, location location. Food is standard. Beers were cold which was good enough for me. Sat outside at the bar so we could get full service (regular dinner has to be ordered at the door and picked up) . Our bartender was a little scattered and lacking knowledge about the menu but we survived. Ordered GRILLED shrimp, rice and vegetables. Got stir fry shrimp, rice and vegetables all combined. That was yuck. I just ate the shrimp.Fans would be nice to eliminate the mosquitos. If you have no expectations of a beach bar / restaurant you won't be disappointed here. FYI, they pass on the credit card processing fee to you.

Recently went for dinner on 06-03-24. Wife had a margarita and I had a beer to start. Typical drinks for downtown. The fried pickles were very tasty as was there fish and chips. It's not your traditional cod dipped in wet batter more like tilapia fried traditionally but still delicious. The wings were just ok. Overall the service was attentive and I would return.

The service was great! This place honestly just reminds me of grandmas house growing up. Cute little homey atmosphere. Our food was a little subpar- but I don't think people really come here for the food. They come here for the comfort and welcoming feeling from all of the staff. All of the elderly people around us were greeted with warm smiles & hugs, almost like they were family and it made my heart so warm and fuzzy. I would recommend this restaurant just for that feeling alone! I love it!

If you're craving some seriously good Texas BBQ, Black's BBQ is the place to go. This spot has been around for ages and it shows--they've mastered the art of smoking meat. The brisket is always on point--super tender, juicy, and packed with flavor. The pork ribs are just as good, with that perfect, melt-off-the-bone texture. The sides are solid, too. Whether it's the creamy mac and cheese, tasty potato salad, or the tangy coleslaw, they've got the perfect balance to go with all that meaty goodness.Black's BBQ is great for families, locals, and tourists alike. It's got that laid-back vibe where you know the food is going to be great every time. If you're in the area, definitely check it out--you can't go wrong.

Adorable environment walking in. A wide variety of seating options and it feels like a nice casual breakfast place to hang out. I got the breakfast hash and it was honestly pretty filling for what the size looks to be! Delivered in a timely matter and the workers were quick to clear plates. Honestly, a nice place to grab food for cheap and for a casual outing.

This was my first time. You never forget your first time. My family was holding a graduation celebration. They rented out the party building. All I have to say is that it was a great time. I wish the place had more of a beer and booze selection, but just like most Burger joints, all they have is a few select choices. Still got the job done. The Party building has an indoor section with a patio under cover. The indoor section has a good size bar, but it looked like it doesn't get used very often, and it's used for storage. The women's bathroom was out of order so the whole party used the Men's bathroom. It is a one person bathroom, so it was fine. The best part of all of it was the food. It was a simple spread of salad, burgers, and fries. No special orders, which was more than good for me. The burgers were so good I had to take one home with me. It was still really good after I warmed it up for 30 seconds in the microwave. I have been wanting to eat here for a long time, and it was worth the wait. I can't wait to go back.

"First time here so here goes all the good news first. We were looking for an old style lunch diner with comfort food. We would definitely come back. There were a few flaws but not enough to scratch this place off of our foodie road trip list. It's very clean, the decor is simple diner style, the staff is super friendly and efficient, the portions are huge, and the prices are very reasonable. It's a typical fairly limited diner lunch menu with daily specials (can you believe liver and onions - haven't seen that in years), and the ingredients for the most part were fresh done old school style. The roast beef was a REAL roast cooked in the oven for hours - so tender it just fell apart on your fork. I could eat that every day. The chicken fried steak was from scratch as were the amazing thick sliced huge onion rings. Almost every table had them. The breading for both looked like it had a little cornmeal mixed in. The gravy for the CFS was not the typical cream gravy. More on that later. The dinner salad was the usual diner salad but so crispy fresh and cold. The chunky thick blue cheese dressing looked and tasted like scratch made. The fluffy dinner rolls are made every morning and so are the scratch pies. You have to wait til the pies cool enough to slice. Some are a mile high. So there were a few minor issues but not enough to keep us from coming back when we're in San Antonio. First and foremost, the coffee was weak. That's a crime at a diner, and another customer was ticked off, but oh well. This isn't a coffeehouse. Overall, the food lacked salt. I'm ok with that because I'm cutting back and prefer to add more if needed, but some people want their food seasoned during cooking. Here, it's all very flat from lack of salt (except the salty packaged brown gravy mix on the roast). That included the bland thin yellow gravy that is served under the CFS. Never saw that before, but it kept the steak batter crispy. The mashed potatoes were a huge disappointment, the main reason for the 4 stars. To me and other diners at the table next to us, they were horrible. They were straight up russet potatoes mashed plain as if they just baked then smashed into a hard, dry lump that looked like it was scooped out of a big pan - no salt, milk, seasoning, or butter - just pure literal solid mashed potatoes. But the worst thing was the cold roast beef on the open face sandwich. The next table over's was cold, too. We sent it back to be microwaved, and then it was hot. And still delicious enough to order every day. Even so, with such a shortage of good diners serving comfort food these days, we were happy to find this place, and we will be back. We'll just avoid the pitfalls we learned from this trip."
"I am a sucker for a really good sandwich. I love really good delis and this is the best kept secret in San Marcos. The ingredients are fresh, the sandwich bread is amazing, and their homemade ranch is really good. My favorite is the turkey and getting a side of ranch to dip it in. The staff are friendly and it's a cute little hole in the wall."
"Their $9 whole smoked chicken on Wednesdays is definitely a steal, and the Family Pack #1 is a great value for feeding a group (which is what we were doing). It's no surprise that my husband and our family were impressed with their BBQ - their reputation for being one of the best in the area speaks for itself. Brisket DAMN soo good. There was no meat we didn't try and they all were excellent. My daughter thought the Turkey would be dry but, nope...#delicious. If you're ever in San Marcos or if you have friends visiting who want to experience excellent Texas BBQ, I highly recommend checking out San Marcos BBQ. You won't be disappointed! We never are."
"Don't be fooled by the building's exterior. Walk in,stand in line, place your order and then Dine on the best BBQ in SATX.The 2 meat platter is your best deal. The chopped brisket sandwich is stuffed between 2 slices of Texas toast. The sides were just as good but my stomach was full by the time I got to them.I suggest to arrive early or after the lunch crowd. The seating area is limited but I'm not here for a good seat. This BBQ "makes you want to slap yo momma"."
"Every time I order a drink from Tantra, I'm always a bit let down. Not even their iced latte seems worth it to me, as their prices are a bit high for what you get. This last time I ordered a Paris Fog tea, which is black tea, whole milk, and vanilla syrup. It was okay, nothing special but something about it tasted a bit off -- I totally think that's my fault though because I asked if they could use sugar-free vanilla syrup instead. Rookie mistake. I do have to say though, their hibiscus tea sweetened with agave syrup is pretty good.I love this place more for shows than the menu. They have a lot of cool local bands that come to play, not only from San Marcos but also the NB and Austin area. The shows are (usually) free and it's always nice to sit outside (when the weather is merciful) and catch up with friends."
"Hester's offers a truly fresh and delicious experience. I had the Texas Turbo Brownie, and it was everything you could want in a dessert--rich, fudgy, and with just the right amount of espresso to give it a nice kick. The homemade pecan praline filling on top was a perfect touch. The staff was also incredibly nice, making the visit even more enjoyable. Looking forward to coming back and trying more yummy treats! Thank you!"
"The food here is absolutely amazing and delish! My son always wants to come here, and now I know why! What an amazing experience."
"We came at an off time, walked in and were greeted by the bar tender. The atmosphere is definitely not your normal restaurant- it has musical instruments for lighting that are really cool. The staff were friendly and the food was fabulous. Definitely glad we stopped by for a late lunch!"
"Amazing "scratch" restaurant in Laredo! So glad I found this place and tried it out. This will probably be one of my go-to places when in Laredo. I tried 2 "half" dishes and the portions could easily be enough to be a single portion....very generous. The chicken in both the salad and sandwich was so moist and savory. The salad had all the healthy greens and veggies I look for in a salad without all the extras that just add calories (sorry, dug into the salad before taking a pic). The bread for the sandwich was perfectly toasted and yummy (I'm kind of a bread snob). Highly enjoyed my lunch here!"
"First time. Choice of five sandwiches, one of which is vegan (avocado, lettuce, tomato). I had the "roast beef", my friend had the "cheeseburger". Both were excellent. Buns are toasted. They are on the small size, though. So if hungry get two. At $3.99 each, definitely worth it! No fries but can get Lays potato chips and a bottled soda for extra."
"We like this place. The quality can vary. For the most part it is very very good. We will return there. And we know we'll have fun there."
"Always a treat. Great food, service and entertainment! Family and dog friendly is a huge plus. We love lounging outside sipping from their great beer selection."
"Absolutely delicious can't wait to try more menu items. The truck was in the target parking lot, I was so glad I stopped by target that day."
"We had the brisket spud and Philly cheese steak with tea and fries mushrooms, very tasty the meat, the potatoes well cooked and big . We will come again. The dinner area is very clean and homey atmosphere."
"This café is absolutely delightful! The presentation is charming, and every bite feels like it was crafted in the clouds. The textures--from the pasta salad to the peanut butter chocolate chip muffin--were amazing. I also appreciate that they offer vegetarian options even though I'm pescatarian - some times I do want cheese and veggies! I love their "life's short, eat the cookies" sign. I AGREE.The atmosphere is adorable, and I'd happily return. Parking is a bit limited, but street parking should work fine. It's such a sweet spot, perfect for anyone visiting Corpus Christi. Definitely stop by and support local businesses!"
"Craving for good Texas BBQ and Lulling BBQ doesn't disappoint. I don't know what happened with folks came before me. The service was awesome. Everyone was friendly. The meat just melted off the bones. Sausage is not overly salty like that mega gas station chain. They are definitely much better than the one in Houston where I had to stand in line during the lunch time to get in. You know what I am referring to."
"What a great place our friends recommended! Nice menu choices, good variety and tasty lone star combo.Jody, our server, was very helpful with the info, sides and choices. We'll definitely be back."
"A little hidden gem in San Antonio! The city is so well known for its Mexican food, but this place has a little something special that I think everyone ought to check out! They have American food with a cool little twist on it. I had the delicious beet & artichoke salad and my husband ate the Whiskey Chick sandwich with a side of fries. The food was made fresh and ready! We decided to sit outside on the patio since the weather was nice and it turned out to be a great idea, because we had a clear and direct view of all the planes taking off and landing! My husband and I enjoyed ourselves! It was something different, relaxed, and definitely entertaining. The place is quaint, small, clean and there's indoor and outdoor seating, as well as bar seating. When you walk in you pick a menu up and order what you want and find your favorite spot to sit."
"Yummy ice cream, friendly staff ready to explain menu items even with a busy line, and beautiful views!!"
"Possibly the best burger in Corpus Christi. Burger patty was fresh and smashed perfectly. Fresh romaine lettuce. Fresh cut red onions. The bun was toasted to perfection. Such a juicy delight. As for the fries? Amazing. Fresh cut and expertly seasoned. Can't wait to go back."
"Great healthy options and very good customer service. The guy taking my order offered suggestions and he kept coming around and checking on me, he offered to get me more water. Very clean restaurant and I would definitely come back to this location again."
"Salad bar is delicious and well maintained. The soup was a little cold but otherwise good. Service was quick and polite. The staff we're on top of cleanliness and refills. Cool little place for lunch."
