This is one of the best places for Latin dancing in Houston. I also enjoy the socials given by instructors, but there is something exciting about going to a club and dancing with people you've never danced with before. You'll find dancers of all levels - from absolute beginner to performers and instructors. Currently, Tuesday is ladies' night, so there is no cover and free parking. There are live bands on Friday and Saturday. The place is really loud, so don't expect to have much conversation, but the music is great and so is the dance floor. You can check your purse or coat at the door, but be sure to tip the person as you leave. They really appreciate it! The drinks are okay, not phenomenal, but it's worth having a couple if you're in the mood for it. The one negative is the parking. You can park in adjacent lot that is very dark, and probably not the safest. A friend of mine was mugged there one night after dancing a few years ago. I haven't had that experience, but sometimes I just Uber there so I don't have to deal with it. There is also expensive valet parking, which tends to be friendly, but slow.

Cons: Over price on drinks, they won't let you inside with a baseball hat. They will keep it till the bar closes but they will give it away to someone else, thinking you done left. $15 cover charge no matter what. Pros: on Saturdays ONLY is best to go, DJ plays some good music on the other side of the bar. Bartender was very nice and friendly plus she was cute. ;)

We love going to this club. VIP service from the beginning to the end. Great taste of music. Live music Friday and Saturday.

This is a Latin dance club and bar. Went on a Saturday night. It is a well run place with table and bar service. We didn't have a reservation but they let us use a reserved table for people who come very late. Those people never showed, at least not when we left after 1am. Still recommend a reservation. Waitress service was fast with frequent check ins. Only drinks are served and keep it simple. I ordered a gin gimlet and the bartender didn't know what that is (gin, lime, syrup, ice). There is a bar attached, Urbarra, next door but I didn't try to order a cocktail there. Cost: $15 cover, $10 valet, drinks around $10-15 per with tip. Reasonable, considering this is the only revenue stream for a large club with lots of good staff booking expensive live entertainment. The purpose of this place is dancing and to that end it is great with a big dance floor and clientele there to use it. The only CON: very loud. Bring earfoams with you and thank me later. So loud drink orders are pen on napkin. It was louder when the band played. PROS: I'm not a great dancer, have an hour of YouTube tutorials and maybe 3 nights of dancing with a willing and forgiving partner under my belt. But I felt comfortable. There are lots of novices and couples there to celebrate anniversary. Sure there are some semi pro dancers with sexy outfits and special shoes to prove it but the floor does not feel exclusive, nor is it too crowded to get out there. It's also good to watch and follow the other moves. This is good exercise and an exciting date. The band started at 11 sharp and were GREAT. It felt like I was in a movie, these guys were so classy and talented.

Parking was $20 on top of the cover fee and they kept telling us to park in different spots. Sat at a table with no reservation card, and were then told that we couldn't sit at any table because they were all reserved. After then moving to the bar, they forced us to pay our check for 2 waters ($8 btw) and when I asked to order something else, they refused to serve me. I would understand if I was being rowdy or causing a fuss, but we were incredibly compliant (we are two preschool teachers lol) It was silly, and we wish it would've been a better experience because I was celebrating my 21st birthday and they had awesome reviews :/

Live bands are usually great. Lots of dancers, 2 rooms, good music all night. I think entrance is pretty steep for a salsa joint ($15), you have to pay for parking . $20 for front of joint spot; $9 and $6 for around the corner. Other than steep parking and entrance fees, club is a lot of fun.

Classics never die and this is a good example. For the number of years that have gone by this place is exactly the same. If you ask for a good salsa place, this is the first one I recommend. It's a hole in the wall place but opens up inside. Lights and stage are great. Dance floor is nice and you'll see some talent here. I might give it more credit than it deserves, esp with the number of other salsa clubs in Houston. But it is what it is. Parking is horrid. You'll likely have to valet. Dress shoes required. Cover is usually $10 and ladies almost always get in free.

If you're as avid a salsa dancer as I, you'll know there's a big difference between a salsa night and a Latin club night. (Not that one of the two is inherently better, but if you're in the mood for one, you're unlikely to find satisfaction in the other.)From appearances, everything about this place screams "Latin club" (sketchy location, dim lighting, unnecessary valet parking, etc), but on the Tuesday night I ventured out here (and I did think twice about parking/entering when I got to the nondescript strip mall...) I was pleasantly surprised to find a very legitimate salsa/bachata scene, with a friendly crowd, decent music, and strong dancers.Yes, the location is a little seedy, the lighting is off, and the sound system isn't the best, but if you're looking for some decent dancing you likely won't find yourself disappointed.

Food is not served as far as I know. Service was good and prompt but the quality of the drinks is below par. I had a Cuba Libre and it tasted bottom shelf spirit as well as the cola itself. First time going and my friends standing at bar were asked to dance several times. Reserve prior if u want a table. Mix of dj and live band who played salsa and merengue mostly. I heard the DJ play salsa, merengue and bachata before live band started. The restroom has several stalls and is kept clean. A lady sitting inside provides the hand towels to dry your hands. Tips appreciated. Valet parking only- $10 behind building and $20 in parking lot. Entrance charge definitely on a Saturday.

I've been to Tropicana several times. They always have a good band that plays fun dance music. Why 1 star? The place is tiny. No room to have fun. The drinks are overpriced and watered down. You pay to park, pay to reserve a table, pay to check a coat, pay to get in, overpay for drinks, and pay when your car gets towed. Tiny parking lot shared with other business'. An employee walks the area and calls a tow truck on you!I will never go back. You've been warned! There are much cheaper places to have fun that aren't so cramped. Tropicana is not worth your time.Stay away!
