Absolutely delightful crew behind the counter recommended chopped brisket sandwiches. The gentleman asked with surprise why we stopped at "this hole in the wall".And you know what.... the question is the answer sir. The question is the answer.

On way home from Houston, did a quick search to find good bbq. Have tried City Market in Luling and was amazing. So figured would be Greta's well. Ordered sliced brisket sandwich. Meat was tender, very easy to bite into. Lacked a good smoke flavor. Also needed more flavor overall. Would have benefited from more dry rub prior to smoking, ad that spice. BBQ sauce was ok, nothing special.

We stopped late in the day and they were out of chopped beef, so we got sliced. The meat was moist even without sauce and tasty without being overly smokey. The beans were delicious...nicely spiced with heat. And the potato salad was some of the best I've had. Nice folks running the place too.

Visited this small meat market as we were on our Painted Churches Day Trip. It's a small market that has jerky, different packaged sausages & fresh meat. You can view the choices in a glass-lined meat case. I bought Deer sausage seasoned with garlic for $4.50/pk. I asked the clerk about it and it seemed to be a favorite for some. I ended up frying some up today and it was nice, mild, lean, not overly greasy & no gamey flavor. It's a blend of Pork, Venison & spices. I don't think I'd buy it again as I saw MSG in the ingredients list. Too bad I couldn't view it first as it was behind the case. Oh well...

I got some garlic pork, hatch chili, and the pork and beef classic and all thee were amazing. Great snap and the perfect chew you want in a Czech born Texas sausage. The business and its building are part of that historic Czech tradition in the part of Texas. It's a must stop!

Driving to see the painted churches and spectacular wildflowers. Stopped in on a Friday for lunch - read reviews. In our group -guys who love good TX BBQ. Although they advertise ribs on their sign and have them on the menu board - only meat available was brisket or sausage - during the week. No signage. Gruff customer care. Brisket just ok. I ordered a sausage wrap (thinking tortilla). Sausage plopped on a piece of white bread. Underwhelmed by the food, friendliness, and service. Disappointed.

We stopped by on the way between Houston and San Antonio for a quick lunch. Chopped beef sandwich had a stale bun, meat had no seasoning or sauce. Potato salad was interesting, but not great. BBQ beans were ranch style straight from the can. Plasticware was loose in a can with no cover or wrapping. Prepared food is not at all recommended, but the meat market looked promising.

My wife and I stopped for lunch and had two sliced beef sandwiches and tea. The process needs some work. We asked how to order and were told to go out to the bbq pit and tell them what you want. The pit master said they only sell by the pound and if we want sandwiches to go back inside. So we ordered and waited a few minutes. There was no one at the register so we waited a few more minutes. Got the sandwiches but no drink cups and had to wait a few more minutes for the cups. Finally for the food: Their brisket is moist and tender but no smoke flavor at all. The sauce is not good either. You have to self serve pickle and onion, napkin, plastic ware, and drinks in a crowded small space and there only 4 tables.I wouldn't go back for the bbq but maybe for the meat market. We didn't buy anything but the meats and sausage looked good and at reasonable prices.
